Conveniently located but needs better cleaning
The place was conveniently located and was within walking distance to most amenities. My room was nice, and I liked having my own bathroom. However there was no orientation on what was expected of me during my stay. I had to figure some things out by myself. Secondly, the hallway where my room was located was very dirty and never cleaned for the entire 21 days I stayed there. The place also had a weird smell. The shared kitchen was dirty and had items that were not supposed to be found in a kitchen. And it was constantly smelling too

Deposit delayed for FIVE MONTHS
I’m writing this as a warning to future students considering this agency: avoid them at all costs. They are by far the worst agency I have ever dealt with.
I have been waiting FIVE MONTHS for the return of my deposit. All they do is postpone the payment date over and over again while telling me I’m supposedly on some “urgent list.” Nothing ever changes.
I am a STUDENT, and you have absolutely no shame keeping my money hostage. I repeatedly explained that I urgently need this money, yet I’m told that the finance team still needs “manager approval.” What kind of ridiculous excuse is that?
At this point, I literally have to beg just to receive MY own money back. I also noticed many other reviews describing the exact same situation: vague excuses, endless delays, and never a clear payment date.
I have already warned them multiple times that if I do not receive my refund immediately, I will take legal action. We live in a state governed by the rule of law, and this behavior is completely unacceptable !!!!!

Avoid Londonist — poor communication and unresolved tenancy issue
I had an extremely stressful and unacceptable experience with Londonist, and I would strongly warn other students and tenants to be very careful before booking with them.
On the first day I moved in, the bathroom hygiene condition was shocking and completely unacceptable. I was told that the property had already been cleaned twice, but the actual condition was still very poor. For accommodation aimed at students and international tenants, this level of hygiene was simply not acceptable.
I contacted Londonist immediately and sent several emails within the first week asking to discuss ending the agreement and moving out because I did not feel comfortable or safe staying there. However, I received no proper response. I also tried calling their finance team and relevant staff multiple times, but the communication was extremely poor. Instead of helping me resolve the issue, they appeared to ignore and avoid the problem.
Because there was no clear response or solution from Londonist, I had to move out and find temporary accommodation elsewhere at my own cost. This caused me a lot of stress, inconvenience, and additional financial pressure.
What made the experience even worse was what happened afterwards. Several months later, instead of properly addressing my complaint or the poor condition of the property, I received further pressure from their finance team. I also received a phone call that I found intimidating and threatening, saying they would take legal action against me. After months of poor communication and no proper resolution, this felt extremely unfair and distressing.
In my opinion, Londonist’s handling of this situation was unacceptable from beginning to end: poor hygiene, poor complaint handling, lack of communication, avoidance of responsibility, and then aggressive payment pressure afterwards.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Londonist, especially to international students who may not be familiar with the UK rental system. Please be very careful before signing anything or making any payment to them.
Deposit Still Not Returned After Months
I stayed at Finsbury Residence from September to January, and since moving out, I still have not received my deposit back. They continue to ignore my calls and keep removing my requests from the student portal.
I am seriously considering taking legal action because this seems to happen to far too many students. When it’s time for us to pay, they constantly spam us with calls and emails. But when it’s their turn to return our money, they suddenly stop responding.
Very disappointing experience.

Refund Still Not Received After Months – Poor Service and Lack of Transparency from Londonist
Terrible experience with Londonist, especially with the Paddington City View accommodation. From the beginning, their support only worked when it came to closing the deal — after that, they completely disappear when you actually need help.
I’ve been dealing with a serious issue regarding a £250 refund. I followed all the required steps for the refund process, submitted my request back in December, and still nothing has been resolved. In the last email I received, in February, they said my refund was “in progress.” Today, April 27, I still have not received my money.
I have tried contacting them through every possible channel: website chat, email, and all their WhatsApp contacts. No effective response, no solution, no clear communication. It’s a complete lack of respect for the customer.
There is absolutely no honesty or transparency. I do not recommend this company to anyone. I expect them to resolve this situation immediately and issue my refund.

Unbearably shabby room at Sterling…
Unbearably shabby room at Sterling Court in London. Toilet leaking, no heating, pests on the ground - just to name a few. What's more, it's been four months since I moved out, but I still haven't received the deposit refund! My worst experience in London!

My experience with Londonist was absolutely terrible from start to finish. I strongly advise any student, especially anyone new to the UK, to avoid this company.
They put heavy pressure on students to book immediately, creating urgency by saying the accommodation will not be available if you do not secure it right away. In my case, what was presented was completely different from what I found when I arrived in the UK.
The studio I was given was in a shocking condition. It was extremely dirty, smelled awful, and was not fit for a normal person to live in. The condition of the room caused me serious stress, anxiety, and disgust the moment I entered. After travelling to a new country, this was the last thing I expected. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt trapped, sick, and deeply regretful.
This experience affected me so badly that it made me want to return to my home country immediately. No student should arrive in the UK and be treated this way.
I asked for a full refund because the accommodation was clearly not as promised and the situation was unacceptable. More than 10 days have passed and I have been ignored. Their handling of this matter has been unprofessional, dismissive, and completely unacceptable.
In my opinion, this company takes advantage of students who are unfamiliar with the UK housing market and rely on honest guidance. What happened to me felt deceptive and unfair.
Avoid them at all costs. There are far better and more honest companies out there. This was one of the worst experiences I have had.

Ongoing issue for months – no refund, no follow‑up, no accountability
This is not the first time I am raising this issue, and unfortunately I am still forced to do so because nothing has been resolved.
I cancelled my accommodation back in January, yet months later I still have no refund and no clear explanation. Since the cancellation, I have repeatedly been told the same thing: “someone will get in touch,” “please wait,” “the refund is being processed.” Despite these assurances, no one ever contacts me and no concrete action is taken.
I have gone out of my way to follow up myself, contacting Londonist multiple times via WhatsApp, emails, and phone calls. Each time, I receive vague responses and requests to wait — with absolutely no progress.
What finally confirmed how serious this issue is: when I called again yesterday, I was told that my cancellation process had not even started and that I was still listed for the “Old Street Residence”, despite cancelling months ago. This is completely unacceptable and shows that all previous promises were meaningless.
At this point, I am no longer accepting excuses. I will continue calling, sending messages, and writing reviews until I receive my money back. If Londonist expects me to wait any longer, then they must:
provide clear proof of the refund process and its progress,
and put me in direct contact with a responsible person immediately.
No more delays, no more vague answers. This situation should never have dragged on for months, and I strongly advise others to be extremely cautious when dealing with this company.

Missing deposit and unsafe conditions
I stayed at Chapter Highbury and when arrived my room was so filthy and smelled horrible. The shared kitchen was unusable with flies, piles of dead bugs, cobwebs, greasy appliances, and again, such a bad smell. I had to spend my own time and money cleaning and buying air fresheners just to make my room livable.
Moreover, people entered my room without my knowledge or consent when I was not home and my door was left unlocked multiple times afterwards. Also woke up to cleaning staff locking themselves in my room. Completely unacceptable. Furthermore my access card stopped working twice unexpectedly, and communication about my second room assignment was so delayed that I packed and cleaned everything without even knowing whether I was moving or being inspected.
Most frustrating of all - I have still not received my £250 deposit back or the £65 compensation they offered for the disgusting living conditions after I made a formal complaint. They noted that I requested my deposit on 29/10/25, but I still have not received any money. Since then, they have effectively ghosted me every time. It is very frustrating to see other people receive their deposits after posting on Trustpilot, even though they requested theirs after I did.
I wish I would've have never trusted this company and I can only hope I will get my money back as especially as a student this is alot of money...
