My issue is with OPTIMUM MOBILE, not the internet side of the company.
The salespeople do not disclose the charges you will incur by changing service. I was offered a bundle (phone & internet). On the surface, it's a great deal that would have saved me lots of money over time. My internet speed would increase, and the phone service would be less than what I currently pay.
Sounds good, right?
I have been charged $99.87 so far, and the phone isn't even activated. None of the charges were mentioned when I ordered the service. I was also told my new phone would be free but later on was told it would be financed for the next 3 years.
The phone was sent to the wrong address on June 8th, and I came very close to calling the police due to the phone being missing and someone forging my signature. On June 10th, I finally found the phone and it was at the manager's office where I live. She had the package marked return to sender. (another review coming)
Optimum Mobile created a bank draft from my account, which I expressly stated I don't allow. I was told that I don't have a choice. You always have a choice.
Contracts have been emailed to me, but I have not signed or noted items that I don't agree to. Two or more people need to agree to a contract for it to be valid. You also have the right to disagree with parts of the contract, and the company should negotiate with you until both parties can agree.
With all the issues that I have stated so far, I decided it was not in my best interest to do business with OPTIMUM MOBILE. The phone had not been used, and I had not completed porting my phone number.
On June 10th, I attempted to cancel the mobile service. After being on a call with multiple departments, wasting 2.5 hours of my time, nothing was done.
On June 11th, I went to the local OPTIMUM MOBILE store for help. They were not able to cancel the phone due to me speaking to someone over the phone. What they did do for me was to be a witness to another 2 hour call where I was denied cancellation by 2 separate agents.
The first agent went on and on with ridiculous questions that lasted for another 1.5 hours. The skill here was to drag the conversation out until I gave up. He went as far as bribing me with 4 months of free service. Again, I said no and asked to cancel and refund me fully. I didn't trust any offer he made.
Instead of fixing the issue and canceling the service, I was told a different department had to get involved. I was cold transferred to another agent who started in with the same questions. The sales clerk interjected herself and spoke directly with this new agent. She explained we had already gone over everything and to cancel my service. At this point, we are 45 minutes into this part of the call and my patience had been tested enough, especially when this young lady stated she would not cancel. At this time, I requested the call be escalated to her manager. I was told no, that she was not going to escalate and wanted to know what was so wrong with her that I would go to her manager. At this point, I was done and hung up the phone before I blew a gasket.
The next morning, June 12th, I contacted the corporate office of OPTIMUM MOBILE about the situation and how it was not handled. I was escalated to a Tier II specialist named Cynthia that ended up another dead end. She closed the case without resolving anything.
I am also filing a complaint with the FCC as these heavy arm sales tactics (lies and failing to disclose) are unacceptable. The reason companies get away with treating people badly is that we do not stand up for ourselves. It is too easy to say to heck with it and walk away.
OPTIMUM MOBILE has my money and their phone. Today is July 15th. My service is not cancelled. They sent me a bill for $56.47 which I refuse to pay, so they are now harassing me daily for payment. They can no longer charge my account as I had them blocked.
I do not recommend this phone service to anyone. Their Internet service is a separate division and I have no issues with their service.

After trouble shooting it was deemed broken by an Oprimum rep. My husband took the broken box back and got a crappy refurbished one, which also didn’t work. After several long phone conversations and troubleshooting, it was deemed broken by Optimum. They sent us another refurbished cable box which finally worked. Meanwhile we had been told to call back to get a credit for the month we were without cable. Another 45 minute conversation with an Optimum rep proved unfruitful. Optimum refused to credit us for our down time! This is truly the worst customer relations company EVER!! Shame on you Optimum.

I requested upgrade to DVR, spoke to 2 people who said I already had DVR capabilities which I don't. I spoke to tech at optimum who said someone should have told me I needed a real DVR and remote and to pick up at nearest optimum store, 50 miles away. I did it still didn't work so I called optimum again. They assured me it would work. They called my husband back and told him we were given the wrong box and he would mail the correct DVR to me in 2-3 days. Day 8, it hasn't come. I called optimum again, they said there was no order for a DVR! We still don't have television or DVR!

Applied for and received Lifeline assistance benefits in NC. Lifeline sent me code to give Optimum to apply monthly deduction. Optimum did not know how to do it and said they don't participate, but i was informed otherwise.

I've been an Optimum customer for 11 years. Recently an Optimum chat agent offered me a promotion and confirmed it in writing: 6 unlimited mobile lines at $70/month locked for 24 months, internet lowered to $42/month, a one-time $80 credit, no contract, cancel anytime. When I asked the agent to reconfirm every term, they replied word-for-word: "Yes, you are absolutely correct." A short time later another agent told me: "I have successfully processed the offer for you… visit the Optimum Mobile website to complete the activation," and even issued me activation login credentials in the chat.
I went to activate — and the activation page was down ("scheduled maintenance"). When I followed up, the order did not exist on my account. Over the following hours I spoke with seven different agents and a supervisor. Every single one refused to honor the deal, saying it "isn't available" and "is not a valid offer" — even though their own colleagues had confirmed it and told me it was processed. I was bounced between "call the retention team" and "we've noted your feedback," but no one would make right what Optimum's own agents promised me in writing.
I have full screenshots of everything: the confirmed terms, the "you are absolutely correct" confirmation, and the "successfully processed" message. This is a company making written commitments through its own agents and then refusing to stand behind them, leaving an 11-year customer to chase seven people through the night with nothing to show for it. If Optimum's own confirmed promises mean nothing, that's a serious trust problem. Get every promise in writing — and don't count on them honoring it.

Their customer service is a farce: it is border line illegal and certainly unethical. I am a senior citizen and they prey on us. I had their store in Georgetown transfer my two phones to them and they billed me for four lines. I have spent hours trying to deal with their customer service folks and they actually laugh at my dilemma- I not only want a transfer pin, which they will not provide but also credit for their charge of four lines , two of which are bogus!!!! My quoted price of 20.00 per line is being billed to me at over 100.00 per month. I even revisited the store in Georgetown and they will not help - they claim I must deal with customer service. There must be some type of consumer protection organization that can help - I am doing research on that. Otherwise I just pray that someone in their company has some ethics and sense of fair play and will get this resolved.

They are frauds. Make sure you chose some one else. They charge you for whole billing cycle. I canceled the services on 4th day of the billing cycle but they still charged me for entire cycle. Also service is pathetic.

I’ve only had the service 2 months and I’m already being scammed! The price lock guarantee is a joke. Someone changes your plan without your consent and when you want it back they want to charge you more than what you were paying!!! The service was consistently mediocre but the reason that I'm giving this one star is it took me 2 hours of being on the phone for them to cancel my account and I'm still not even sure if they canceled my account. I talked to one guy and he said he was going to cancel it and then I was transferred to another guy who said the exact same thing and asked the same exact questions. it's impossible to not get angry when I'm being asked the same question over and over again and I'm just not having the simple task done of disconnecting my service. I have worked there and I can tell you from the inside that it is extremely scummy. and the disconnect process that I just went through was just as scummy as I remember. if you have a chance, please go with another service. I understand a lot of gamers or people that are online will probably have to use optimum like just like I did and I am sorry for you if you have to. the service died every year whenever it would rain. and the technicians were nice because they would just come out and fix it, but the corporate structure and all of the agents that are following the really anti-consumerist rules that they're corporate overlords are feeding into them are truly terrible. this is my childhood home where I have this service so I don't really have a choice, but I do encourage people to not move to a place that is serviced by this company because it is worth paying more to have better service because it's probably just a better neighborhood too if optimum's not there.

DO NOT get optimum mobile. They will lie to you about the price and you will be stuck forever with optimum mobile's ACTUAL price.
The price to finance the phone is 183$, so if you cancel it(which I have did today after 4 months of being lied to) , you will have to pay that amount as well. I was promised 3 months free internet and 2 phone lines, then 20$ a month for 3 years locked. But I was charged every month $51.83. After speaking with the agents today they said it was a misunderstanding but they won't listen to the recording of what happened.
We don't use the phone at all we agreed because the price was lower, but it's not at all what was promised! Prepare to pay more.

What a disaster this company is!! Took me 45 minutes (of my life I can't get back) to cancel after I already made the switch to another provider and had it installed.
I contacted optimum prior to going with another local provider to see if they would extend a current offer to me that was being advertised. Well I got a big, fat NO, sorry! Ok, no problem I said. I'll be calling back to cancel. And I did, but oh brother, what a nightmare!!
I despise this company with every ounce of my being, and I am so grateful to be able to give them the boot after another local provider came to my town and squashed Optimum's monopoly. I wouldn't go back to them if it were free. Horrible, inconsistent service, poor technical support, high fees,(and everyone seems to have all different prices that they're paying!! What's up with that?!) Oh, and they lie. Read other reviews on TrustPilot, Reddit or Google, I am not alone, which gives me some solace
Although it wasn't easy or pleasant to cancel my service (it was like trying to escape a cult), I am so happy to be free!!!

I have been with optimum since the beginning of the year. Here's my honest review regarding their internet service. Optimum provides very reliable and affordable internet service. Personally, I haven't come across any companies that offer the prices and reliability they do. They provide different tiers of speed, and I have had no issues with internet speed at all. I highly recommend them.

I called for Earthlink, I was transferred to optimum, I explained what I needed, and they "Optimum" sent me a cable box. I had two days to get it up and running. It was not going to work. I called to cancel, they flat out refuse to cancel (I have it recorded) I asked for the Mans name his said Adam. I ask for his ID number, his states he did not have one. I talked for 47 minutes to try and cancel the service and he would just suspend it, stating that once it is suspended, I can cancel at any time (Dumb) I said great, cancel the account my now, and we went back in a circle. Optimum SUCKS and I only had it for two days.
It took 4 days, over 12 phone calls, and at least 8 to 10 customer service people to cancel the service I was never able to use for one week. I will have AI translate the call, and you will understand the pain.

I canceled my account prior to my billing cycle, I save saved the email Optimim sent to me and showed them the email after I was billed for the month of service.. they totally disregarded and did they could find any records of credits.. I attached the email to the chat and was told it was wrong.. suck BS and poor customer service
