On Friday 15th May 2026 my wife and I visited the Richer Sounds Solihull store with the specific intention of purchasing a new hi-fi system for our cherished vinyl collection. I have been collecting vinyl since 1978 and have just sold my old Kenwood system. Having carried out the usual on-line research, Richer Sounds looked like the ideal place to get advice and have access to a wide range of equipment.
We spent what can only be described as a wonderful couple of hours being looked after by Marcus at the Solihull store. From the outset Marcus was patient, understanding, extremely professional and took customer service to a new level. After vaguely explaining what we were looking for, Marcus carefully curated a system that exactly met our needs. He set up the speakers for us in the experience room and took us through each component carefully, explaining in detail what they did and how to get the best vinyl experience. He also took future-proofing into account for us.
What an amazing young man you have in the business. I cannot thank Marcus and the other friendly staff in the Solihull store enough for their care of us.
We have spoken highly of the experience to friends and family since and how much fun we had choosing our new system. We cannot wait for it to arrive in the coming days.

I have recently updated my hi fi system. I wanted to achieve a fuller sound from my music set up. I went to Richer sounds Solihull store and was served by Martin, he advised me to only change one item at a time from my set up and to see the difference it made incrementally.
My first purchase was a new Cambridge Audio CXR 100 amp to see what difference it made. I then changed to Monitor Audio speakers which really made a big difference. Finally to complete my set up I wanted a sub woofer to boost the bass sound.
I have now bought an Argon Malmo sub 6 which is ideal for what I wanted. I only wanted some definition to the bass sound which I was hearing and as I only live in a semi detached house. I don’t tend to have my music too loud and certainly didn’t want an absolutely booming bass sound.
The Argon provides the sound which I want at a price to fit my budget, it sounds good and also looks good but isn’t too obtrusive.
The best thing was that I was talked through and demonstrated several different choices of each piece of equipment to compare prior to purchase and also it was in stock and I walked away with it that day

Martin at the Solihull branch was friendly and helpful allowing us to decide on the TV we were considering. Ordered the TV in the afternoon and received it next morning at 9 in the morning. It came with a 6 year warranty included. Everything went well and very happy with the LG TV.

Went into Richer Sounds Solihull originally looking to replace an ageing Bose 5.1 setup… and walked out having completely rethought our entire system thanks to Marcus.
What impressed me most was that there was zero hard sell at the start. Marcus spent a huge amount of time understanding our room, listening habits, existing setup and what we actually wanted from the upgrade. He explained everything clearly — including where spending more genuinely mattered and where it didn’t.
We haven’t even plugged the new system in yet, but the buying experience alone deserved a review. We ended up going for a Marantz Cinema 50, Bowers & Wilkins 706 S3 speakers and REL T5x subwoofer after being talked through multiple options and setups in a way that felt consultative rather than salesy.
Marcus somehow managed the rare feat of both upselling successfully and making my better half completely comfortable with the decision at the same time… which deserves its own award to be honest.
What Marcus does brilliantly is make premium audio feel exciting rather than intimidating. Deep product knowledge, patient, commercially sharp, but also genuinely focused on what works best for the customer.
Outstanding experience from start to finish. If you’re heading to Richer Sounds Solihull, ask for Marcus.

In a way it is like going back in time. Like 1976 and buying that first colour TV. You go into a shop, prepared to spend a decent amount of money. In 2026, the usual experience is that the person working there just wants a sale.
But then you walk into the Richer Sounds in Solihull. After 30 seconds in the shop, and a quick glance at the busy staff behind the counter you receive a "Hi there, be with you shortly" from the manager, who is satisfyingly also called Martin. He looks you in the eye and gives you a genuine smile which you can see in the whole of his face, like a friend who is really happy to see you.
Then, when you have had a quick browse at the items in the range you're interested in, you ask Marcus, who is free, but busy on the till computer. He immediately looks you in the eye and smiles, and when he says "How can I help you?", you know he actually means it, and really does want to help you.
A purchase in Richer Sounds doesn't happen every week, but the people who work for Richer Sounds make it feel like you are always a valued individual. I have always had the same experience in their shops, and if I want to buy a piece of electrical entertainment equipment, I will try to time it for when I am in the UK with my car.
There is simply no other comparable shop chain.
