Having been a member of Third Space on…
Having been a member of Third Space on and off for almost six years, it is extremely disappointing to see the same maintenance and service issues continuing year after year.
Third Space positions itself as a premium health club and charges accordingly. Unfortunately, the standard of maintenance at this particular club simply does not reflect the price members are being asked to pay.
The steam room is the clearest example. It has suffered repeated breakdowns for years and was one of the main reasons I previously cancelled my membership. Having recently rejoined, I was assured that there had been a greater focus on maintenance and planned preventative maintenance. Yet, within a short period of returning, I have found myself experiencing exactly the same issues again.
Most recently, the steam room was out of service for the entire weekend. As a result, members were crammed into the sauna to the point that some people had to stand. For those of us who predominantly use the club at weekends, this is particularly frustrating. At this stage, I have very little confidence that the steam room will actually be operational when I visit.
What is increasingly difficult to understand is why, after years of recurring faults, there does not appear to have been sufficient investment in a permanent solution. There comes a point where repeatedly repairing the same facility is no longer acceptable. The steam room appears to require a complete overhaul, specialist assessment and proper capital investment.
Unfortunately, the lack of maintenance extends beyond the steam room. Lockers remain faulty, including one I personally reported that has still not been repaired. Other lockers have similar problems, and deteriorating seating and upholstery are also becoming increasingly noticeable.
When I raised concerns, I was told that the club is "old". For a premium operator, I found this response particularly disappointing. The age of a building is not an excuse for poor maintenance. Older properties require effective asset management, robust preventative maintenance and, where necessary, investment in refurbishment.
There also appears to be a disconnect between issues being reported and meaningful action being taken. Members should not have to repeatedly report the same faults or simply accept facilities being unavailable.
At this price point, members are not paying simply for access to a gym. They are paying for a premium environment, premium facilities and a premium level of service. When facilities are repeatedly unavailable, faults remain unresolved and the general condition of areas is allowed to deteriorate, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify the membership cost.
Third Space continues to invest in expanding its portfolio and opening new clubs. From a member's perspective, I would much rather see greater investment in maintaining and refurbishing the clubs that already exist.
After almost six years of experiencing many of the same problems, this no longer feels like an occasional maintenance issue. It feels like an ongoing failure to adequately maintain facilities to the standard the brand promises and members are paying for.
For a premium health club, the current standard simply isn't good enough.
I have been a member of Third Space on…
I have been a member of Third Space on and off for almost six years, and unfortunately the recurring maintenance issues continue to let what should be a premium club down.
There are many positives. The Hot Yoga offering is genuinely excellent and, having looked extensively elsewhere, is one of the main reasons I returned. The staff are generally welcoming, and when everything is working, the club offers a very good experience.
However, for a gym positioned at this end of the market, the condition and reliability of some of the facilities are increasingly difficult to overlook.
The steam room has been a recurring issue for years and was one of the main reasons I previously cancelled my membership. Having recently rejoined, I was disappointed to find myself facing exactly the same problem. Over the weekend, the steam room was again out of service on both Saturday and Sunday, resulting in the sauna becoming so overcrowded that some members were left standing.
Unfortunately, it no longer feels like an isolated breakdown that simply needs another repair. The steam room appears to require proper investment, specialist assessment and potentially a complete refurbishment rather than repeated short-term fixes.
There are also smaller maintenance issues throughout the club that collectively affect the premium experience. I reported locker 178 as faulty and it remains unresolved, other lockers have similar issues, and some of the seating/upholstery is deteriorating and interfering with access to the lockers.
I was told by a member of the team that the club is "old", but I don't believe age should be an excuse. Good asset management, preventative maintenance and appropriate capital investment are precisely how an older property is kept operating to a premium standard.
When members are paying a premium membership fee, there should be confidence that the core facilities will actually be available when they visit. As someone who predominantly attends at weekends, I have unfortunately reached the point where I don't know whether the steam room will be operational when I arrive.
Third Space has a strong brand, an excellent Hot Yoga programme and plenty of potential, which makes the ongoing issues even more frustrating. I genuinely enjoy the club and want to remain a member, but after almost six years of seeing the same problems return, I believe some meaningful investment in the existing facilities is overdue.
A premium membership should ultimately be matched by a consistently premium experience.

Am seeing a lot of 5 stars reviews
Am seeing a lot of 5 stars reviews, probably from people who are joining first time a Third Space - and are in awe with the amenities
It is indeed a great gym...BUT
Having been a member of Third Space for many years, and member of other of their clubs (CW, City, etc) and also guest visiting Richmond or Wood Warf - I got to say lately the club experience has gone downhill
Membership rates have gone up year on year (for me quite significantly as I had some ''founders fee'' initially, they completely removed free guest passes (at least for me again), they used to offer 2-3 per year, now you got to fork up £40/each and they have also usage restrictions, i mean lets be real - that's almost a quarte of a monthly fee - for a few hours;
Then where do you add that the club is very busy at peak times, queueing to use machines, to swim, to shower...not really what i call a high end relaxing experience; the spa area is anything but relaxing - people on their phones despite being a phone free zone, very little common sense from some members a lots of ''lads culture'';
I can't tell if this is something specific to Wimbledon, but I haven't experiences this in the other clubs, maybe because they had more space and better organisation (eg: must swim lessons and training happen during the peak times - or can you put it off-peak) I haven't even tried classes as they're always fully booked months in advance; Yet the gym continues to aggressively advertise for new members joining - guess sardines in a can is the new experience
So why 2 stars: management is deaf to these issues and even if they seek feedback, they never take it on board, just ticking boxes, paying for a premium luxury experience but getting a pure gym experience in a high end setup; experience is not all about fancy lockers, and facilities, is also about the members that go there, how they act, how you enjoy and relax, and there is not much of relaxing or enjoying when queueing for everything; when i raised this issue their answer was: come when is less busy LOL
I really hope the HQ management reviews this club as it's currently very poorly managed!

Third Space Richmond is a very special place. I have only been a member for a month and it's been a great experience so far. From top instructors to top facilities this is truly my happy place. Thank you to all the staff who make this place a very special one. A special mention to Alanna, and also to instructors Bethan, Sallie-Beth and Natalia.

Excellent Wellness Club
I have been very impressed with my membership so far of Third Space. The team are very friendly and welcoming, the facilities are exceptional and the whole experience is great. The classes in particular have been great and I am very happy with my membership so far, no complaints.
Richmond’s best gym
Spacious gym, top notch equipment, classes for all and a stunning environment all around. The best gym in Richmond by far.
Third Space Spa Canary Wharf - Unprofessional client service
Third Space Spa has a strict cancellation policy applicable to clients only.
An appointment cancelled within 24 hours will result in a loss of the deposit paid by the client.
A no show appointment by the client will result in payment for the full treatment being due.
The policy is understandable and protects the business.
HOWEVER, this policy is not reciprocated to clients.
A therapist failing to provide treatment for a scheduled appointment due to mismanagement of their schedule is of no consequence.
I recently booked a spa treatment, rearranging work meetings and commuting 40 minutes in the blazing heat wave to arrive at my appointment punctually.
After 10 minutes of waiting there was no sign of the therapist and no communication.
I approached reception - on enquiring with the therapist I was advised very politely that they would be through soon.
After a few minutes still no sign of the therapist.
Again, I approached reception – apologetic feedback this time was that there was a complication with the previous client and the therapist would be through shortly.
Surely this should have been communicated when I checked in???!!!
Still no sign of the therapist and realising that my 50-minute treatment was now going to be 35 minutes at best and I needed to be at my next appointment immediately after I had no choice but to cancel.
There was no apology/explanation from the therapist. The bare minimum of a full refund was processed for a treatment not received. But what about the inconvenience to me as a client. Had it been the other way around the Spa would have received full payment.
This unprofessional level of service for what is an upmarket Spa is unacceptable and dismissive of clients who are not valued.
The Spa has too many clients and does not value the support!
The cancellation policy needs to be reviewed.
If a therapist is running late clients should be advised in advance as a bare minimum.
I love my club in tower bridge
I love my club in tower bridge, I’m a member since June 2023, the staff is very professional, there are a huge amount of classes every day for everyone.
Third Space Battersea is brilliant
Third Space Battersea is brilliant lots of varied classes from Lift with Alanna to Mat Pilates with Charles. The guys on the front desk are always really helpful. I'm really looking forward to the new studios with reformer pilates opening in the Autumn. We are very lucky to have such a great gym so close!
Extremely poor service given this…
Extremely poor service given this company advertises themselves as luxury and high quality. Hostile customer service, unforgiving, with no idea how to do business. Purposefully using tactics to cheat money from customers, such as charging while I had requested a freeze, then purposefully not replying to frame it such that no decision had been made. Do not sign up to this gym, management need to change how they run their business. Trust me, if you sign up and an issue comes up later on, you'll realise how poor their service is.
Luxe meets “so many options”
Luxe meets “so many options”. Love the classes - there are loads to choose from. I am at the Richmond gym, and I am in the weight Room three times a week and do yoga twice a week and soundbath once a week. This is not an intimidating (gym) so it’s perfect for anyone, and the trainers are there to offer help. They also sometimes offer a 30 minute complementary training, and also how to lift classes which is so critical to ensure that you don’t get injured. The Staff are great, and I love the food and drink Options.
I'd highly recommend Third Space to anyone who loves fitness
I'd highly recommend Third Space to anyone who is considering joining. It is a great gym with fantastic facilities and classes, the staff and instructors are great and there is always a great atmosphere at the clubs. The Richmond club is my favourite!
The facilities and team at Third Space…
The facilities and team at Third Space Soho are great! Everyone is so friendly and the gym space and changing areas are so clean. I love being a member here!
Mmm - Look this chain is about it
Look this chain is about it! They lost the plot after they exceeded the member numbers printed. The laundry cleaners and attitude failed. The cracks began after 5 months opening.
And then they launch Chelsea and now the same routine. Shame If you don’t listen to the members!!! They pay the bills!
The real estate does not in this day and age say too big to fail ! The banks will tell you that … and really who goes to the gym to eat food ? Processed foods too!
They have all the facilities - not clean staff
Instructions are so brilliant
Instructions are so brilliant. Special shout out to Sally, Paddy, Amber, Kayla and Irwin whose classes are all exceptional
We go to Third Space every day and…
We go to Third Space every day and every day the staff greets us like we were family members returning home. That definitely helps when you are questioning yourself on having the energy to do whatever is planned for that day. Very nice team who care.
