I met CJ through a Learn to Row course. When I found out he was also a PT I signed up. No regrets! I was a complete newbie to strength training. He came up with an individual plan, which is tweaked and updated as goals change - including weddings and marathon training. He’s really easy to talk to and I can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. As a working mum of three I’m able to schedule sessions quite easily around my timings. I’m now more confident with using weights and have noticed the changes! The sessions are fun, he’s also got a great sense of humor!

I found CJ via a banner in Fairlop Waters. As a father of young children with injuries that were starting to take their toll, I wanted to get stronger and maintain my mobility as I age.
I was worried about further injuring myself and reinforcing imbalances, I was also daunted by all the different possibilities with weight training. I didn't know where to start.
From day 1, CJ made training accessible. He learnt more about me in each session, genuinely listened and adapted my training.
2 and a half years later - I'm still training with him and it's the best decision I've ever taken for my health.
He's flexible on location - in the summer training by the lake, and in the winter, training me in my garage.
He also makes training fun, light hearted and never boring.

I really enjoyed working with CJ. I've never worked with a personal trainer before so I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect but he put me at ease straight away. He is really friendly and personable, and from a fitness perspective, he really knows his stuff. He understood what I wanted to get out of sessions, and delivered on this really well. He also gave me good advice on food, nutrition and other exercise to support my fitness goals, outside of our sessions.
Particularly helpful for me was the location (at Fairlop Waters) and the flexibility of timings (we met in the morning, straight after school drop off and before work). We had 12 sessions, and I would happily work with him again and recommend him to others.

CJ is a really knowledgeable PT. He takes the time to understand your goals and your challenges in order to personalise a plan to help you achieve your goals in a sustainable and progressive way, but also challenges you to push yourself. He's also excellent at explaining the why behind the exercises he has chosen and focuses on building a strong foundation first.
Plus, he makes sessions fun and varied.
My confidence has grown whilst he's been my PT and also I've seen vast improvements in my form when exercising, posture and cardio capacity.

Improving Strength and Flexibility
Although active for all of my life, I have noticed my strength and flexibility declining and in need of some expert help. CJ and I worked together on a project for teenage girls back in 2019 so there was really only one person I was going to go too. My plan is that we will continue until September and we started in May. Already I am feeling stronger and more flexible which is so important for me to continue to be able to live life as best I can and to work in a physically active job. CJ has a style of coaching which I respond well to. He builds a programme to suit you and delivers it collaboratively to get the best out of you and meet your goals. Thank you CJ.

Back in the Boat: Coach CJ's Powerhouse Return Plan
Stepping back into rowing after a 6-month hiatus left me feeling rusty and out of shape. Enter CJ! Their expertise in rowing-specific training was a lifesaver. CJ built a personalized plan to rebuild my strength and endurance, and kept a close eye on form to prevent injury. Even with my busy day job and new parent responsibilities, CJ found time slots that worked, making getting back on the water a smooth transition. Highly recommend!

An excellent course
A well planned course. First session gave us feedback on current personal technique, and body positioning, resulting in goal setting for the course. Lots of technical drills to correct faults, and time to practice, which helped with muscle memory . Use of singles and doubles helped confidence levels. Good fun and lots of laughs. Learnt a lot and was told that I'm " really shifting the boat" by my double partner. Thanks for a great three days
