Package theft concern and unprofessional moving service
I hired MovingMatch because they were available on short notice and offered a 15% discount on the estimated cost. I was told the move would take approximately 2–3 hours. Instead, it took over 6 hours, largely because only one person was effectively doing the moving. I had to step in myself when the reserved freight elevator time expired. As a result, I was significantly overcharged compared to the original estimate.
More concerning than the delay and overcharging was a serious issue involving missing property. After the move, I discovered that one of my packages containing expensive cosmetics was missing. When I raised the issue immediately, the package was found hidden underneath one of the movers’ large boxes. One of the moving staff acknowledged this after multiple inquiries.
Despite this, the owner dismissed my concern by sending an image of an empty truck taken two days later, rather than providing an image or evidence with a timestamp from when the truck actually left the property. Although I was told the truck had CCTV cameras, no footage was ever shared despite repeated requests. When it became clear that the issue could not be dismissed, the owner abruptly ended the call and accused me of trying to harm the company, which was both unprofessional and inappropriate.
I provided generous tips and snacks, and expected basic professionalism and integrity in return. Unfortunately, my experience raised serious concerns about reliability, accountability, and trustworthiness. I would advise others to proceed with caution.
