It was dull. The dermatologist wasn't too sharp. And they charged far too much for nothing. I regret ever going there.

Used Syringe
The ladies at the front desk were super sweet but I cant get past how dismissive the doctors and nurses were. I would say something then be contradicted for an experience I had. Since the techs or nurses were not actually listening, the doctor would come in and say that the heard I said this when I didnt. THE BIGGEST ISSUE was that there was an uncapped USED syringe on the floor
I paid my consultation fee for an appt…
I paid my consultation fee for an appt and then the person I had an appt with went into labor on the morning of my appointment. They offered another doctor who said he wasn’t comfortable giving injections and I should wait for the girl to come back from leave. It’s been 6 months and the girl resigned and I can’t get my fee back nor could I get my injections in time for my daughters wedding. Extremely disappointed in this facility.
Port Orange office
Waiting room so narrow that people have to pass right next to you. I caught a cold and am just glad it wasn’t COVID.
The alleged skin check covered barely 60% of my skin. Like nobody ever got a skin disease on the other 40%. Prescribed for redness on my stomach without even looking at it. 3% surcharge for using a credit card is not the industry standard.
Careless at best.
Lack of transparency
I've wasted too much time with my complaint directly with the office, and later with Better Business Bureau filling a formal complaint, so I will not be very detailed. The lack of response from managment concerning a billing issue I had was below poor. I was provided a service where the cost was not transpoarten or even informed during or after time of service. I do not recommend this company.
Total waste of time
Total waste of time. My regular Dr. Found and removed a skin spot so recommended getting a skin scan. The "Dr" barely looked at my skin. I literally stood in a paper gown, turned around and he said see you next year. Nope! Go to North Idaho Dermatology. Not yuppy, very friendly, he a actually looked at all areas of my skin also asked and answered questions.
Extremely Disappointed!
I was extremely disappointed with our visit at Advanced Dermatology. My 19 year old had some alopecia and acne, hence the reason we took her to the dermatologist.
The doctor saw her and only looked at her hair and told her she needed to come back regarding the acne cause she only had time to see her regarding the hair loss. Here are my reasons I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND AD
1. The dermatologist never thought the 2 things could be related. It could be one condition having 2 symptoms. This is poor medicine.
2. My daughter was not told what was wrong with her hair. But she was given medicine.
3. Of course she was not told anything about her acne. She’s 19. She does not have money to keep going to the dermatologist. She does not have a car so correlating a doctors visit with my schedule to drop her off is no easy task.
I thought this company did not practice good medicine and they were not thoughtful, and asking my daughter to come back was only about money making, not patient centered.
I will never go back and I will never recommend. so disappointed, especially because we needed and wanted help for my 19 year old who has self esteem issues because her hair and face needed some TLC.
Advanced dermatology lies
The website says you only need one treatment and after spending thousands so far I’ve had no changes to my skin. Feeling very ripped off .. don’t go and don’t waste your money
I’m having same issues as everyone out…
I’m having same issues as everyone out 275 dollars later. The lady at front desk insisted I don’t have copay in which I know I did. She informed me that I was going to have to pay this much at every visit. I called my insurance was told that I should of not been charged that much I should of only paid. The $50 copay and that I was over charged I tried to call billing department and was told nothing they could do. If you value your money do not go here there are other dermatologist that will accept you’re copay.
I would give 0 rating
I would give 0 rating. I booked an initial consultation and on the day of my appt, I walked in and was told they have to verify my insurance despite I gave my insurance carrier info over the phone when I booked my appt weeks ago. Subsequently, I was told I have to pay my deductible in additional to my copay. The patient before me also walked out when was told he needs to pay the deductible. I also walked out and when I got home, I called my insurance carrier to confirmed. I was told I only had to pay a copay with an office visit. Deductible does not apply to office visits. I feel this place is a rip off. It’s a small office on Springfield Blvd in Bayside. I am a nurse and I know the policies. I didn’t want to argue with the front desk personnel because I know no matter what I am not returning to this place.
If I could give them 0 stars I would
If I could give them 0 stars I would! I’ve been going to Staten Island Hylan blvd for over 3 years. The receptionists were never bright and constantly making mistakes but they have taken it to a whole new level now that you call one central line. My daughter waited a month and a half for an appt only to have them cancel it bc they never put in her medication. They told me they would contact me when they received it. They never bothered to order it again. I followed up with the pharmacy and finally have it to be delivered. They were supposed to schedule her as soon as they were to receive it. They wouldn’t schedule her when they canceled the last appt. Now they want her to wait 3 months for an appt! The meds are supposed to be administered every three months! These people are horrendous!
Love my provider, but not so much billing department
Love my provider, Justin Fodo, PA-C, but I have to say the billing department is terrible. I am constantly having to spend my time to go back in my records and send them copies of checks that they have cashed, on my account. It can’t be that difficult to correctly credit a payment made to my account. Trying to actually reach a live person to talk about this is quite difficult, and time consuming. If this happens once, it is a fluke, but this is a continual problem with this company. I think training needs to be improved. This last incident where I was getting text messages that said I was going to be sent to a credit collection company for unpaid bill was the last straw. When I talked to the representative and told her I had a copy of the canceled check, she immediately says “Cancelled?”…” you cancelled the check?” .
Ummm, no sweetheart, a canceled check in the banking industry is a term for a check that has been cashed. I was also told that the threatening texts I received nonstop threatening to take me to a credit collection agency are automatically sent and they have no control over that. Really people you have to do better. This is driving patients away. Oh, and something else. I sent by email exactly one week ago, a copy of the cashed checks. The representative told me “oh, that email account is so full. We haven’t had time to review it yet.” Really? You don’t have time to review your emails, but you have time to send me threatening texts, got it.
A money grab more than a care facility
I've been coming to Advanced Dermatology for many years. Last year I used another provider for insurance reasons, but this year I returned. First, it took a very long time to book my appointment because I somehow had 3 charts. I spent over an hour on the phone (actually on and off, as my first and second call were dropped with no call back), simply to book. When I did finally book, my "Annual preventative skin check" they asked me if there was anything wrong. I said that there was not and that I schedule a preventative check every year. After the appointment I received a bill. I was puzzled because this appointment has always been free. When I called my insurance provider they informed me that the preventative care code was not used. It took a week for me to reach Billing at Advanced Derm. Their system returned my call with a recording telling me to call and the cycle continued until a human finally answered. When I asked them to resend the bill with the preventative code, they informed me that they no longer do preventative care. I called to speak to the office manager and when I asked why they would book an appointment that they do not offer, she informed me that I should have done my due diligence. So, I'm doing that now. DO NOT USE THIS PROVIDER and save yourself an administrative mess with unauthorized charges.
Advanced Dermatology is very poorly…
Advanced Dermatology is very poorly managed! Numerous people are scheduled with the same doctor at the exact same appointment time.I arrived to a waiting room full of patients all waiting for Dr. Patel. I asked how many people had an appointment scheduled for the same time as my appointment and 4 people had the same appointment time. I have never been at this office that I did not have to wait an unreasonable time. When I have seen Dr Patel she rushes through the examination.
Trust the reviews, save yourself the frustration
The Doctors could be the best in the world, but if contacting billing or any human is impossible, none of it matters. - I've been on hold multiple times for 1hr just to see if anyone would ever pick up, nope. You can enter your phone number for someone to call you back. Of the four times I took that option, someone called me back once, multiple days later. Of course I missed the call, so the circle starts all over again. It's ashame, my Dr. was great, but I will never go here again. They habitually miss bill and their billing doesn't update when insurance makes the proper adjustments, so calls to their none existing billing department doesn't help resolve the issue, but they are sure to send you a past due notice with a threat of collections, but they have NO IDEA the HOURS I have spent trying to contact them for THEIR MISTAKES!
scam in Cape Coral, Fla
Looks like we have a problem that has to be addressed immediately. I came in your office on 4-19 and had a biopsy on a pre- cancer melanoma on my back. Paid a bill on $150.00 on same day. Received a phone call to come back in today ,which I did. Turns out today Thomas Pino Pa had a different spot frozen . Go to check out to pay my $40.00 co-payment and was told the payment was not $40.00 but another 150.00. Complained that nothing was taken off today, and had another spot frozen, not the original spot.
Thomas Pino Pa froze another spot of possible melanoma and not the one that was originally done a couple of weeks ago. That biopsy was not touched. When I got home I had my wife show me pictures of the two spots before and after. She took another picture today showing the wrong spot was frozen.. If the charge is not going to be taken off, than I will start a chargeback and scream to the high hills !
Thank You, Ronnie Giles
Double billed - no clarification
Doctors are great, but if you get double billed for a procedure and attempt to contact management, billing, office personnel - or any human at all - you will be hold for 1hr-1.5hrs each time you attempt to contact billing, no one will give you answers, no one will call you back (even though several emails and voicemails have been left), no one will clarify why you were billed twice for a procedure (one in which was a follow up to the original issue that was not completely resolved at first attempt). So, you will either choose to pay a bill that is not accurate OR have a past-due bill that comes with a whole set of other problems that you will have to deal with. Because of this, I do NOT recommend this practice. Based on my experience, if you have an issue, it is likely that it will never be resolved and you will pay the price, literally.
Marathon office
I have used Advanced Dermatology for several years despite having to drive 50 miles each way to get there. Today there was a sign on the door stating they are closing the office in Marathon & combining services at their Islamorada office. That means to continue using them, I will have to drive 85 miles each way! That is just crazy when there are other dermatologists close to my home. Today the wait was long because they were backed up, with not even enough chairs for everyone in the waiting room. Why close this busy office? I hope they consider what an impact closing the Marathon office will have on the community & their long term patients.
We had a HORRIBLE experience with our…
We had a HORRIBLE experience with our visit to Advanced Dermatology. We will not be back. It is unfortunate, because we just moved to Denver from Los Angeles.
Finding a Doctor is challenging enough, then calling in and scheduling appointments can stretch out 5 - 6 weeks or more.
The Doctor's visit itself was good. I had scheduled a second visit to do a complete skin check. Dr Ella-Marie Rakowski was very professional & I was looking forward to working with her.
The problem is with the Office Staff. I booked 2 appointments for myself and my wife for 3:25 & 4:00 PM on 4-18 5-6 weeks prior.
My wife took a 1/2 day off of work to be at the appointment and I came from work in Downtown Denver. I drove 15 miles & my wife drove 25 miles.
Upon arrival at 3:08 I spoke with Margreta ( I hope I haved the names correct - that would be the lady that has a man's Haircut , dresses & talks like a man).
I discussed with Margreta that me & my wife made 2 appointments 3:25 & 4:00, my wife was running a few minutes behind because of traffic - could I take the 3:25 appointment & Judy / my wife could take the 4:00 appt. Magreta looked directly at me eye to eye and said that would be fine and then asked if I wanted to complete the sign in manually by paper or use the IPAD.
When my wife arrived at 3:35 she attempted to sign in and take the 4:00 PM appointment as discussed with Magreta. Magreta coldly directed NO - You are late for your 3:25, you will have to leave.
Judy discussed with Margreta that my husband Doug discussed with you the 2 appointments and how Doug was taking the 3:25 & Judy would take the 4:00.
Again Margreta said there was no one to talk with , no flexibility , you're late - you have to leave and if you want I can reschedule another appointment. ( Be aware the earliest next appointment is June 29th or into July).
When I exited my appointment with Dr Rakowski I looked for my wife. The current office staff told me they sent her away. When I discussed with them that I had discussed the appt swap with Margreta when I initially arrived at 3:08 and she said it was OK - the front desk persons all said I was wrong, nothing was discussed and too bad. I did explain that we just moved into Denver - this was our first visit & the swap was discussed and OKed by Margreta.
This conversation turned into me against 3 of your front desk staff, then Alysha Aragon came to the front and very coldly exclaimed...there is nothing to do - your wife was late - we sent her away.
Alysha then asked if I wanted to speak with the office manager. I did tell her NO because I truly feel that no amount of conversation from the Manger is going to change the lack of Professionalism exhibited by that group of Front desk staff.
Then Alysha started into a little HAPPY DANCE while saying over & over " Have a nice Day - Have a nice Day. I did tell her at that time that her attitude and Have a Nice Day really was showing that she did not care about the patients. There is no way I could trust this group to handle any of my records or procurement of any complicated special order medicines.
We will not be back to Advanced Dermatology. Furthermore - with Alysha's HAPPY DANCE and the Front Desk staff's lack of any care, concern and NO attempt to make anything right - I now will be looking for any Denver Regulatory Body that oversees Advanced Dermatology. I will be registering a complaint.
My wife did look online for any previous reviews of Advanced Dermatology - she found many - most were negative and related to the treatment of patients by the office staff. So I guess I'm not the first unsatisfied patient. Too bad I didn't review them before I made the choice for both me & my wife to make appointments here.
Since I am convinced that no amount of discussion with the office manager will change this unprofessional behavior - I will be posting this negative review to any and all Online ratings sites.
I do not expect for this email to go anywhere in the Advanced Dermatology management, I do not expect this email to be answered or even read by Advanced Dermatology management.
This email is for my benefit only as I am able to shed this bad experience & move on to find another Dermatologist.
Like Alysha said about 20 times yesterday. Have a Nice Day.
REALLY EXPENSIVE WITH HIDDEN CHARGES
If you have a follow up appointment on something existing and they do nothing but tell you it looks good, you ARE GETTING CHARGED FOR IT!! Also, they charge one thing, then the doctor will recode the way they want, so they get paid more. Make sure you shop around! These guys are expensive and I wasn't that impressed with the care either.
