I had a great experience with our guide Charlie from Active Travel today. He was friendly, professional, informative, funny - and a very good, safe driver. I cannot think of any way he could have made our tour today better. My highest compliments to Charlie and to Active Travel.

My girlfriend and I, we took the tour that included Peļes Castle, Bran Castle and Rasnov Fortress.We had Mr. Tiberiu as our guide, a knowledgeable and polite gentleman who made us feel at ease, and the time limits were properly respected.

The tour was really fun and exciting.

The tour was amazing, and so was our guide Charlie. We got to Pelés castle nice and early so we beat all the crowds. Charlie even waited in line for us while we enjoyed a coffee and pastry at the cafe so we could be first in line. We stopped at a Romanian restaurant for lunch, food was great and inexpensive. Bran castle was also very cool and Charlie gave us information in every room. The fortress was closed but we were able to walk around to get a nice view point over the city. On the way back to Brasov we also stopped at another view point over Brasov to take some photos. Overall the day was great, perfect itinerary, great timing at each place (we didn’t feel rushed at all), and the small group size was a plus. And most importantly the guide was great! He was very knowledgeable about each location and all the places we drove through and gave us lots of recommendations and answered any questions we had. 10/10 would recommend! A highlight of my trip!

Charlie was a fabulous guide sharing fascinating history of Transylvania. He was accommodating to every request and question we had and offered so many wonderful suggestions for our trip. I wholeheartedly recommend Active Tours and especially Charlie for your Transylvania trip!

We had a great tour experience today with Mihai! He taught us a lot about Romanian history (he was VERY knowledgeable!) and he was also very kind and made us feel comfortable. We had the opportunity to go to Sighișoara, Viscri, and Rupea today and it was so beautiful. Transilvania is wonderful! We hope to come back to Transilvania very soon. If you want a knowledgeable, respectful tour guide, Mihai is your guy!

Wonderful day trip to Peles & Bran Castles as well as Rasnov Fortress with expert guide Charlie. Worth every penny/lei!

Right from booking the trip this has been a great experience, staff were friendly and really helpful. On the actual day I visited Peles and Bran Castles and then Rasnov fortress.
Had Charlie as a guide who was fantatic. He was funny, knowledgeable and a massive help when I was afraid of some of the stairs, 😆. He got us there before the big queues began and so there was plenty of time to explore and take pictures. Although you can't go in the fortress at present it's still worth the visit for the history and the spectacular views. Thank you Active and Charlie

On our tour, we went to Peleș, Pelișor and Bran castles as well as the Sinaia Monastery and Rasnov Fort. It was a full day to say the least. Dan, our amazing tour guide, made it all happen even when it wasn’t the original plan because we added more stops. He was very accommodating and made sure we got to Sinaia early to avoid the lines on the next destination at Peles Castle. We arrived at Peles Castle in perfect time before the crowds. Throughout the trip we would make stops of visita points for a quick break, which was nice to stretch and get some fresh air. Most importantly, Dan is very knowledgeable and we got a good sense of Romanian history. He uses photos, books, maps, and figurines to help convey and understand the rich history. You can tell that Dan loves what he does and his country, and wants people to love it as much. He is an approachable and friendly person to ask anything related to Romaina. Thank you for the excellent and unforgettable tour, Dan. We love Romania 😊

My friends and I completed an 8 day self guided hiking tour with TourRadar in September (called Explore the Carpathian Gate). Our contact person, Marion, met us at our first guest house in a beautiful mountain village called Magura. Marion provided hiking GPX maps for every day with different options of longer or shorter trails and he gave us regular weather updates so we could make sensible decisions about our hiking plans. On our last day the weather was bad but Marion arranged our transfer to the start point of a hiking trail the next day so that we didn’t miss out. There was a lot of flexibility and communication was excellent. The different guesthouses we stayed in were in the most stunning locations surrounded by Forrest’s and mountains. We were given delicious fresh cooked meals every night made from organic local produce. The guest house owners were so welcoming and kind and helpful and offered us local schnapps every night (potent :-)) We had the most amazing time and I would throughly recommend this trip to anyone who loves hiking and the hills. Alex was an outstanding guide in Brasov. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour truly memorable. We appreciated the personal touch of the private tour, which offered a much more enriching experience than larger group tours. Highly recommend!

Tiberiu from Active Travel was our guide for our group at Bran Castle. A mixed group of Romanians and foreigners that knew little about the castle. He made the tour so interesting for all of us with the all the vast information he obviously had about Romanian history and Bran Castle. He spoke with such passion and admiration about Queen Maria and all that she did for her people and the castle that fascinated all the participants and they all shared great feedback on the tour.

This tour through the stunning nature of these mountains is extraordinary. Highly, highly recommended! And our experienced guide Bogdan has been quite a discovery! He’s a great person with extensive knowledge about mountaineering, adventure sports, survival, and the history of Romania. The journey was very enjoyable, and the day went by so quickly! And that’s despite us having taken over 30,000 steps, haha.

The mealtime was delicious and very rejuvenating.

My friends and I booked a private tour with Active Travel, had the most wonderful experience with Marian, our guide. He was absolutely accommodating in every way and chose two locations that were perfect for us. The scenery was breathtaking, and Marian was so knowledgeable, and shared so many interesting stories and historical facts with us. After our hike we finished up having lunch in a guest house which was arranged by Marian, and everything was perfect. Marian spoke with so much love and passion for the Carpathian’s and Romania, and is an advocate for ecotourism which we found inspiring. We recommend Active Travel and will def be back to Romania to book with them again.

We had a great day out to Bran Castle and Rasvan, with Dan as our guide. We really appreciated Dan’s flexibility when our travel agent booked an 8:15 tour when we would still be in Sighişoara. Dan met us at our hotel at 12:00, no complaints and took us to Bran castle via Rasvan. He was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide, telling the story of Romania and their English queen Maria, as well as usual suspects Vlad Tepes and co. Dan also has a wide selection of music and we gladly sang along to Pink Floyd as we drove. Thanks again, Nathan and Teresa

It was an amazing visit to Bran Castle and Rasnov Fortress, with our guide, Tiberiu, who was a true expert in art history and history. He was also very friendly and explained us many things about Romanian culture. We would really recommend it to anyone.

Turul nostru în sudul insulei Creta a fost o aventură extraordinară, de la plajele sălbatice uimitoare pe care le-am descoperit, până la comunele și orășelele pitorești de munte unde am locuit. Urmându-l pe Marian până la vârful Pachnes, am simțit în permanență că sunt pe mâini bune, datorită organizării sale impecabile.
Fiecare moment a fost bine planificat și nu am avut nicio clipă de îndoială.
