Be careful when renting from Aercar
Be careful when renting from Aercar. At pickup, I was forced to pay for road assistance even after pointing out that this charge was not mentioned anywhere in the booking or terms. The staff openly admitted they know it is not written, but said it is “company policy” and told me my only options were to pay or cancel the rental on the spot.
The experience was rude and very unpleasant. What made it worse is that after I complained, they claimed that I had personally requested and chosen this service, which is completely false.
This is a warning to carefully check everything and be prepared for unexpected mandatory charges at pickup.
Minus 5 star! Worst experience EVER
It was honestly a nightmare from beginning to end — the only thing that went smoothly was returning the vehicle. To start with, we waited a long time in the heat for the shuttle pickup in a poorly signposted area, and it was never made clear at booking that this was effectively an off-site rental operation.
Despite having booking confirmation through Last.Minute.com, direct correspondence with head office regarding the name typo change, and confirmation from as recently as the day before, the booking supposedly “could not be found”. We were then told by the manager that the third-party provider had cancelled the original booking and that our car had already been given to someone else, but we had received no confirmation of this, nor refund, which she insisted we must have had...
When I pulled up the confirmation from the day prior and found that this reference number was slightly different from the original booking number that was apparently 'cancelled' it was claimed there was no booking at all under this other reference number either… So, apparently there was still "nothing available" on the lot and nothing they could do for us.
What worse was the attitude of the staff the manager was extremely rude, dismissive, unhelpful, and frankly seemed more interested in getting rid of us than solving the issue. She then simply clocked off for the day a few minutes after our arrival, saying we just needed to leave.
I waited on my laptop with a LastMinute.com representative via instant messaging explaining the issue to find out what happened. They confirmed the rebooking existed and reference was valid, it was not cancelled but changed by them due to the name typo which is why we had received no refund or cancellation email. Those left on the desk just continued to repeat the same script, despite this.
With no way of getting the two companies to speak to each other directly, neither admitting fault nor any responsibility to help me resolve it, I was left in an impossible situation of being stranded in the late afternoon at the airport.
What made the situation even more absurd was that due the insistence I book elsewhere I looked online to see if any rental company at the airport had anything available and the only company that did was AERCAR and the exact vehicle I booked WAS available online through another provider Booking.com! Apparently this "wasn’t showing on the AERCAR internal system" — although it did not exactly require much initiative to simply look out of the window at the lot full of vehicles to check. There was also another 7-seater available on the site visibly sitting there, which later 'miraculously' became available, despite the ongoing reiteration from staff there was absolutely NOTHING... honestly it was gaslighting of the highest order.
So, I had no choice but to pay AGAIN for the same car I had already booked and paid for through another third party provided (Booking.com) at a much higher ‘last-minute’ rate (yes, the irony), and without ever receiving any refund for my initial car booking, something LastMinute.com are apparently now 'investigating'...
What is astonishing is how once I had rebooked and paid again elsewhere I was told by staff without any sense of shame nor apology that there was in fact a vehicle available after all because I had just booked it – miraculous, I know! I honestly got the impression this kind of chaos happens regularly and so have long checked out emotionally. The whole setup felt disorganised, opaque, and unbelievably poorly managed.

• the system is a mess;
• staff either could not be bothered or simply did not care enough to try;
• I was forced into paying twice under pressure or be stranded at the airport;
• what I received was massively damaged - better than nothing but really far from ideal
We were also never informed in advance that purchasing third-party insurance would still require a holding deposit of over £1000 on a credit card in the main driver’s own name. That is an enormous lack of transparency. I genuinely do not think most people simply have that kind of money or credit limit casually available. My husband’s cards although a second driver were not accepted either, and if I had not happened to have my Amex card with sufficient available credit, we would have been completely stuck.
Not only would I never use this company again, this experience has honestly put me off using third-party providers for car hire entirely. It certainly did not save me time, money, or stress — quite the opposite. I find it almost unbelievable a company can operate like this and still remain in business quite frankly. Now I await to see if I get any of my money back and if I do see how long I have to wait. Exhausting.

Aercar told me that planet rentals who I had booked through had scammed me on the full cover insurance ,and it was not valid in Cyprus

Please do not trust this company, I had a very bad experience over the phone in with the office in Larnaca near the airport. I was charged for extra insurance I did not agree to, when I called the office they told me this charge was for a speeding ticket but that wasn’t true. I went to the office and they told me a different thing: that I took extra insurance for 100 euros and refused to pay back when I told them I did not agree to pay for this extra service. They advertise the car hire for 14 euros a day but it cost me around 70
Euros a day instead with that extra charge. They are absolutely scammers, be careful.

Our credit cards were rejected for the deposit, no debit cards accepted despite booking details saying otherwise. Then they forced a €180 full-coverage insurance on us, even though we already had coverage elsewhere. Payment was scribbled on a scrap of paper, not properly listed.
When returning the car with a scratch, they demanded a huge sum, claiming our insurance didn’t apply because we didn’t report it “immediately.” We refused and they threatened police and a travel ban—neither ever happened.
Totally shady, aggressive, and untrustworthy. Don’t fall for it.
Avoid this place at all costs
Avoid this place at all costs. I rented a car through the Wizz app from Aercar. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. The employee charged me €120 for insurance instead of €80. The €80 price is even listed on their website, so I’m not making anything up. When I told them I felt cheated, they explained that since I rented the car cheaply, they had to add an extra fee — complete nonsense. There were other renters (victims) standing nearby, and I was asked to step outside to continue the conversation, where I was told I should be happy because €40 per day for a car is cheap. Well, not really — in Paphos, even out of season, I rented a car for 6 days for €100, plus €10 per day for full insurance.

Complete cowboy outfit. Rude staff, poor car Quality. They demanded the vehicle back 90 minutes before midday cut off and threatened us with calling the police if we didn’t do it. We were advised that even if the insurance has run out, they wanted the car returned. So advising customers to drive whilst uninsured is not the best advice. Avoid this company like the plague.

Cheating people as much as they can
Cheating people as much as they can . I rented through car jet fully coverage . And on the counter near the Larnaca airport I paid more money (100euro) as they claimed that i'm not fully covered . Then the car had a flat tire . They took the car to be fixed and didn't give it back or another car unless we pay for a new insurance . We rented a car from another company to complete our tripp. We felt so bad 😔 😞
