I don't recommend this company.

I hired them for a damp survey in January 2022. We disagreed on the findings of the survey report. I believe it was penetration from defective sealants around the window, while Alpine believe it was condensation.

Subsequently I issued a court claim for a refund. The case was eventually settled out of court before trial. The terms of the settlement are confidential.

My overall experience with this company was unpleasant.

We had a Surveyor called Abbas that was very friendly and meticulous to go into detail with all our concerns and needless to say his very detailed report was a reflection of him carrying out due diligence as such I would be more then happy to recommend this company.

I'm not often bothered to write reviews for companies, but in this case I think it's worth anyone experiencing damp problems in their property being able to benefit from our experience with Alpine Surveys. We have various areas of damp in our property and had recently had a quote from a local damp repair company, who looked at the problem in our house briefly and said "your damp course has blown" and quoted us £3k to resolve it.

We were about to proceed with that when we decided to get Alpine Surveys in to do a more detailed inspection and were extremely glad we did so, as the surveyor instantly pointed out there was no problem at all with the damp course - and the £3k we were about to spend would've been totally wasted and may even have made the problem worse.

The detailed report we then received from Alpine Surveys showed exactly what was causing our problems - a wide range of different issues we'd never have uncovered ourselves and which that other "damp expert" never even looked at.

The money spent on the Alpine survey not only saved us wasting £3k on completely pointless work, but has given us detailed insight into how we can resolve the problems permanently.

The money we spent on the Alpine survey was a very good investment and the insights we got into the cause of our damp problems are more detailed than we've had from anyone else over all the years we've lived in the house and suffered damp problems.

PS they never asked for a review, I deliberately looked up where I could leave them a review just out of how grateful I was for them saving us the £3k I was about to waste - and finally shedding light on the problems that we've been experiencing with damp for years that we can now finally solve!

Very thorough survey followed by a clear oral analysis of the research, plus very helpful advice on what restorative actions to take.

I've used Alpine Surveys before and they were professional and knowledgeable. Abbas visited today and was very helpful, knowledgeable and thorough. We are looking forward to receiving advice and a fuller report. He observed other cracks on leaving (not too serious thankfully) and gave advice. Thanks.

Abbas was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He was able to pinpoint all cracks and explain exactly what caused them and provided suggestions on ways to fix them, once again extremely knowledgeable. Luckily in my case it was not structural issues but vibration from the garage door opening and closing causing cracks in the mortar and solution was quite simple and inexpensive which was a relief to me.

Jamie-Lee Drake once more went above and beyond to book our survey as quickly as possible. Although agreeing a date was challenging owing to the vendor's situation, Jamie efficiently liaised with our estate agency to secure a suitable date and time for the survey. Even when an unforeseen event forced the survey to be delayed by a day, Jamie immediately took charge and coordinated with the estate agents to reschedule and confirm the new date.

Jamie kept me informed of the change and provided updates on the surveyor's arrival time so we could meet him in person. This is our second pre-purchase damp and timber survey carried out by the brilliant Ahmad Husaini, who has become our go-to surveyor for his impeccably detailed and thorough inspections. Ahmad is consistently excellent; he is extremely diligent and meticulous in his work.

What sets Ahmad apart is his ability to listen and understand his clients' concerns, paying special attention to particular areas of interest. Ahmad's sharp attention to detail ensures nothing escapes his notice. After completing the survey, Ahmad generously walked us through his findings in great detail.

Ahmad discussed his observations with us at length, breaking them down into simple terms to help us understand the problems identified and methods of rectification. He spent ample time answering all our questions - and trust me, we had plenty. It's rare to find a surveyor who goes above and beyond to help clients understand survey results in such depth as Ahmad does. Our deepest, heartfelt thanks to Ahmad for his exceptional work.

I must say that both my husband and I are so impressed with Jamie-Lee and Ahmad that we would like Alpine Surveys to be our go-to surveyors for all future property inspections.

Our surveyors was Nagendra and we asked him to perform a structural survey. Nagendra spent the required time and inspecting in and out of our house including roof tiles and external wall. His report is very detailed and provide the information a seller or buyer or an insurance company need to have to make a conscious decision.
The report was sent less than a week after the visit and was well documented providing a summary of each room condition and then where there is some issues explaining what is it and what should have been done and the end report provides solutions/recommendations.

Initially responded quickly during which I explained the issues in an email with accompanying photographs. I was unsure what type of survey I required so wanted their advice. A damp survey was agreed and a surveyor attended my property soon after. The issue was specific to my kitchen floor however although professional and polite the surveyor did not examine underneath the floor despite my offer to pull the vinyl back. The report I received gave general recommendations to deal with water ingress ( pointing and ventilation) but mentioned hardly anything in relation to what had caused the flooring issue and options to deal with it. I communicated my disappointment as I felt I was still wanting answers. A recommendation was in fact to assess under the flooring in more detail which is what I originally contacted them for. As I had paid for the report before it was produced, I raised the above in an email but heard nothing back despite repeated emails and questions to surveyor which were not responded to. Finally after a further complaint email I was sent a response that suggested I needed a more intrusive survey for the floor issue. I felt I had been poorly advised as to what type of survey I needed on initial contact so paid several hundred pounds for a report that did not concentrate on the floor or provide specific recommendations on how to deal with it. Customer service after survey was poor in response with no offer to return. I therefore put it down to experience, went elsewhere and was given clear options of how to deal with the damp caused by a crack in the concrete floor joint with no damp proof membrane. How can a report be written without a thorough examination of the floor in question as they did not have the equipment / advised an intrusive survey rather than just pull back some vinyl. Disappointed, failed to provide specific advice for the issue I needed help with.

Chris and his team worked quickly and professionally to satisfy the requirements of my mortgage company. They were able to be provide solutions in a timely and cost effective manner. Great communication throughout. Would highly recommend.

Abbas was expert in his prognosis and I felt totally assured going forward with the plans for the house. Both surveyors were courteous and kept me involved .

Kealan was absolutely fantastic with arranging the survey for the property I was looking at buying. He answered any and all my questions and happily switched which type of survey I wanted to be carried out.

I sent a request on Checkatrade and Alpine Surveys were quick to respond - Kealan called and we discussed the project of removing a small box room in the centre of my bungalow. He understood and promptly provided me with a quotation for a survey to be conducted with an additional fee for beam design, if required. Thereafter, I received other quotes and a couple were cheaper but mostly around the same or higher. A lot of the others felt like they are just a bricklayer-turned-structural-engineer but with Alpine I felt a confidence that they professional and qualified. The quote turned out to be very competitive.

I was initially offered availability for the survey in 3 working days but then offered a space a day sooner which worked well for me.

I have had the survey conducted this morning by Abbas and I cannot say enough good things - he arrived on time, was polite and clearly very knowledgeable. We spoke through what we’d like to do and he took measurements and checked the joists in the loft, etc. He provided pragmatic advice and was an absolute gentleman throughout.

Although I am a technically trained person myself, after speaking with Abbas (and whilst awaiting the survey which I have no reason to suspect will not be delivered within the next 5 working days as it is scheduled) I now have clarification on some things which I thought to be the case and also have consideration for a few points he raised which I not considered. He was thorough and attentive throughout his time at my property - answering all questions I asked him.

I can’t usually be bothered to give feedback (who can?) but after the experience I’ve just had with Abbas and with Alpine Surveys as a whole, I’m making an exception because it has been absolutely superb. I would (and may) use them again, and would recommend them without hesitation.

Alpine carried out a level 2 survey for a house we're buying. I wasn't expecting it to be as in depth and helpful as it was. We received our report quickly, they were professional and I would highly recommend and use their services again. Thank you!
