Quality bike, a joy to ride. Well built and looks smart

Ampere - X-trail 27.5" Mountain e-bike. Excellent customer service, small issue with a rattle resolved immediately, called by Ampere once notified, arranged repair through retailer and covered expenses. Bike is excellent, smooth, stable, comfortable ride with extremely customisable power delivery, far beyond anything else I've experienced or owned, this is my 3rd E-bike and the best by far, would thoroughly recommend this company and this bike. They offer 3 battery options, I chose the 14ah option, returning in excess of 50 miles of support. If your looking for a great mountain bike at a reasonable price, look no further, and it's a UK brand, love it.

I love my Ampere Deluxe bike, especially the ability to adjust it for an upright Dutch seating position. It's easy to get familiar with the controls and very user-friendly. Best of all, I don't feel exhausted when the wind's against me or I'm going uphill! It's great having integrated lights and luggage rack provided too.

I recently purchased the Ampere Hilux 700C Pro Mid Drive E Bike. I went for the 17.5 battety with an 80 mile range to manage my commute to work. There was no supplier in Northern Ireland so I purchased direct with good advice from Thomas on WattsApp and the bike arrived in a very sturdy box and very well packed and wrapped. Thomas gave me some advice on assembly which was easy enough in the end. What a fantastic bike. I have a very hilly commute and, having reached 63 years of age I needed a bit of assistance up the gradients. I simply cannot believe how this bike glides up steep hills making my commute so much easier.

A word on the excellent customer service. The bike arrived and the front light didnt work. Thomas sent an immediate replacement without quibble. On charging the bike I had a problem with the charger which was faulty and quickly got hot. Thomas immediately sent me a new fan assisted charger. You measure a company on how they respond to such things and Thomas has been brilliant in reacting timely with replacement parts and also with some assurance. I ride this bike every day, not a rattle or a noise to be heard and it makes my commute a pleasure.

I love supporting UK businesses and Northern Ireland isn't always an easy delivery and support due to BREXIT but it has been a plus for me that the Ampere team has been incredibly responsive and helpful whenever I’ve contacted them with questions.

So, if you’re are looking for a company that combines high-quality British engineering, at a competitive price with genuine care for their customers I very highly recommend them. It's a FANTASTIC bicycle

Excellent feed back from chat line answering all my questions promptly. Once ordered , bike was with us within 24 hours, brilliant service, and no delivery charge.

I really love my bicycle, especially because it's built for shorter people like me! I'm just facing some issues like the wiring for my front light has broken off and the battery after 1 year + is starting to drain pretty quickly, so hopefully Ampere will resolve these issues.

A great bike and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Very pleased with my bike, it came in good condition and was easy to set up with clear instructions. When I took my bike for a ride for the first time, the ride was lovely and smooth, gear changes were smooth too, the battery deployment was good and smooth too. When I ordered my bike through the eco bike company, they gave me all the information I needed and asked and was very helpful with delivery of my bike too. Kept me up to date with the whole process. After I received my bike, they checked everything was as I was expecting and if I had any questions. Would definitely recommend this shop and brand.

This is my honest review: "a 70 year old male weighing in at 97kg. Regular recreational riding (crossbar, mid-drive) around 3000 miles per annum"

Ampere Electric of Dawlish followed up my 14:25 online order with a call back after 3 hours, confirming suitability for next day delivery. Arrived at 15:30 next day.
The bike was delivered in perfect order. The sturdy box had Integral plastic hand holds fitted to both ends & sides. Not your usual bike box with strapping bands which can encourage rough handling in transit.

Well packed in box. Some minor self assembly required but main assembly perfectly setup in immaculate order. The "polished frame welds" as described on Ampere's walkaround video. are definitely not a Photoshop touch-up job. Even close up, the downtube to head tube & bottom bracket junctions genuinely give the impression of more sophisticated, one piece hydroforming or casting technology! In my view. a really elegant looking bicycle in the new Stone Blue or Grey colourways.

Many thoughtful extras such as lights with integrated rear indicators, electric horn (& conventional bell). A built in bash guard for the derailleur & motor cable outlet - even a little tool kit pouch for less savvy home assemblers with a tiny pot of touch-up paint!

For a hybrid bike. makes a change to see a pair of strong metal stock pedals included with a more grippy, MTB, platform style - yet still fitted with statutory reflectors for legal road use.

Nice, true wheels & free spinning hubs. Good, strong depth to the wheel rims too. Combined depth of rim & 47mm fitted Kenda tyres is 12mm more than my mid drive Trekking bike with 56mm Schwalbe Smart Sam, high volume tyres!

Loving the compact battery, integrating seamlessly into the minimalist, slim downtube with easy fit, removal, charging on or off the bike. I weighed the 14Ah battery to be 2.53kg compared to a bulky 3kg Bosch Power tube, 500Wh equivalent, which requires a chunkier bike frame just to accommodate it).
The top entry for the power connection & charging port is also thoughtful - ergonomically & for weather protection.

I am not really a Designer Labels fan, however, the sympathetically shaded AMPERE logo, facing each side of the down tube where the battery is housed, further compliments the concealment.

On first assembly, the stout, front (stainless steel) mudguard stays appeared to be a misfit with the fork mounts but when tightened, actually flex in to place, providing a very secure, 'sprung' fitting (very effective!). Mudguards are aluminium with matt black finish.

The amount of rider fitting adjustment available for an 18" frame is remarkable. At 5' 10", I normally look for a 19" to 20" touring fit, yet found myself actually shortening the reach via the adjustable zoom stem, even with the 'layed back', Dutch style handlebars! There's no problem with toe overlap at the front wheel either - unless your riding with your heels to the back of the pedals in size 12's!

The central mounted, colour TFT display is very clear with ample brightness adjustment. A simple user interface for basic trip info and access to controller settings. For my own part, glad to see that there is no additional 'connectivity' for techy add-on sensors, dodgy inbuilt navigation, or a regular requirement for system updates.

Good first impressions after a 22 mile ride. Bike is smooth rolling (I would rather ride this home with a flat battery than my Bosch mid-drive), with a comfortable saddle & no rattles. The rear hub motor is smooth in its assistance - barely audible whether cruising along the flat or effectively taking on steep climbs.

Also nice to know that Ampere also provide their 2yr, guarantee, a useful support network & reasonably priced parts in stock. Certainly not a given with most online Ebike suppliers.

If the reliability holds up, I can definitely recommend as an excellent value purchase for an easy access, easy going, do it all commuter & recreational bicycle for road & light tracks. 😊 Maybe time to ditch the mid-drive (that ugly bottom bracket bloat!) & get more into the more elegant, comfort zone?

A powerful bike comfortable to ride and nice looking.

The Ampere Hilux is a very well-built bike with quality parts. I purchased from Bike Yard Online, and they have been great. I’m in my 60s and wanted to get out on a bike again. This bike is ideal for making light of annoying headwinds and slight inclines. It did not assist quite as much as I had hoped on the very steep hills, and I am not sure I will ever get near a 50-mile range on the hilly roads near where I live, but then again, I want to get fit, so I don’t need a motorcycle.
