The HVAC installation on 3/13 went great—the crew was professional and did an excellent job. But everything after that has been a nightmare.
Before the installation, their sales team called me multiple times and stayed on top of everything. After the job? Completely different story. Zero follow-through.
I was told ARS would file the permit with the City of Aurora and that I needed to complete the inspection within a week. I reached out immediately for the permit details—no response. After 5–6 calls and multiple escalations, I finally got a Permit ID on 4/11… which the city confirmed is INVALID.
Since then, I’ve contacted support again and again, only to hear the same “wait 24–48 hours for a callback” excuse. No one ever calls back. It’s now been over 35 days, and I still can’t schedule an inspection because ARS hasn’t provided a valid permit.
Their AI phone system is also incredibly frustrating and useless.
Great installers, but terrible and unprofessional post-installation support—especially the inspections department. Once they have your business, don’t expect any real help.
Cole Williams came in here with the best attitude and fully comitted to fix our Kitchen sink. He was very kind and fast, thankyou for your amazing service!
The service rep. Jesus wasn't bad though he didn't find the leak in my HVAC system. The really bad part was the prices they quoted for repairing what they found. The quote was $276 including tax for 410A Refrigerant per pound and I would need over 4 pounds according to Jesus's spoken estimate. They also wanted $345 for a capacitor.
I got a second opinion from Airworxks Mechanical. They found the leak (the inline refrigerant filter) and I had them repair the system. They charged $85 a pound for the 410A Refrigerant. That's a deference of $191 per pound. They also noted he system needed 4 lbs on their estimate but ended up having to use more but didn't charge for the overage above the estimate. Jesus recommended a new system and and ARS salesman came out that day. The quote for a Carrier comfort A2L 2 ton 16 seer2 system was $13,524.70 which included a $5,796.30 discount.
Worst company ever, first you got my email wrong then when I try to move forward yal telling my it's going to 24 hours for you to email me my quote that o never got. It's an email you can't hit send??????
ARS is absolutely great. Tommy B. who came out to give me a quote was fantastic, professional and came across as genuinely concerned when I showed him the hot water heater and what was needed. When Tommy and the other two personnel came to do the install of the new heater with new tubing, they were fantastic. They showed up and were pros from the very start. I admit, I was a bit nosey to see what was going on, but they remained true to their professionalism and told me exactly what they were doing and why it needed done.
There needs to be some sort of class action suit against this company. They NEVER return calls. Been calling more than a month for a unit they newly installed 4 yrs ago. Who agrees to spend THOUSANDS every 4 years in order to have AC/Heat? Was told warranty was for 10 yrs but never did the maintenance or anything. Now it's completely not working and my elderly grandmother and mother may POSSIBLY have to surface in extreme weather conditions because of this. Have a warranty and they will not fix it and they shouldn't have to pay another company thousands yo fix your responsibilities

Called for sumner ac maintenance. 1st appointment 6p - 9p call after 8p told that they had no tech available. Rescheduled for the next morning 8a - 12p. Received text and calls stating we’re on schedule will call when tech is on the way. Received a call at 3p when I had told the I had to leave for work at 2p. Probably would never-use again.. over 10 hours of waiting around and no service…
I had one of those Special from Lowe's for $29.99 where ARS would come to the house and do services on my HVAC system. The gentleman form ARS did show up did some reading on my HVAC system and state that i need a new HVAC. This was on March 10, 2026. I explain that i have a house warrantee and if the HVAC can be repaired instead. He state that the parts could be preplace. I did tell him that i would need an invoice. Which needed to include the reason why the part failed, and a breakdown of the cost. He state that it would cost about $700-$800. The invoice that was emailed to me total $759. The home insurance needed a better breakdown of the invoice. It did not include how much it would cost for the service to install the parts. Just $759 total. The invoice needed to state what was the cost of the parts and also what it would cost to install the parts. I have called numerous times to get this corrected. I have even called and talked to their resolution department. Its been so far 10 days and about 12 calls to ARS and still did not receive an appropriate invoice. They also never explain why the parts needed to be replaced. This should be a warning sign to anyone who is thinking of using them for there HVAC service
This is such a dishonest company. I wish i had known before i paid the fee for them to come “investigate” (or whatever) the problem. A guy came, so clean, from another call. He took about five minutes. He did not even use a ladder even though my unit is on the second floor outside. He supposedly looked at my unit and determined the problem was too far gone for repair but emphatically recommended a replacement. He quoted me a cost to replace coolant that was 5000 (more actually but i can’t remember exactly) … and told me that i needed to replace the unit. He emphasized that they would finance the new unit. He stood OVER me and insisted I pay for the service call and then immediately put me on the phone with a “comfort” associate or something. I had to say no. i was clear and direct that i could not replace the unit so they made repair so expensive I could not do it. The whole thing was like being bullied. The guy intimidated me on purpose. I am old, live alone and didn’t have any option so i PAID the extortion fee. And then went without air for ten days. The OTHER company I called just left. They replaced my coolant for $250 and the air is perfect. This is a scam, a ripoff, a dishonest company. DON’T use them. They are just rip off artists. I don ‘t know how that service tech sleeps at night. I called to try to get a refund and although the girl on the phone was so nice the owner never got with me and never gave me the money he absolutely did NOT deserve back.
They were contracted out by Lowe’s to install a small mini split. They never showed up on the date of installation. We called 5 times. Each time, same answer “ going to call their dispatcher and have him call us right back. This went on for 3-4 hrs past their window. No call, no nothing. My husband finally called the Lowe’s salesman we booked with. He also called and was given a lame excuse. He said he didn’t know what to say. We told him we wanted our deposit back and we did receive that. He was very apologetic. Shame on this company and Lowe’s . These reviews say it all…..
Scheduling the service with American Residential Service was easy, and the team was very responsive. The technician handled our plumbing issue quickly and made sure everything was working properly before leaving.
American Residential Services provided excellent service when our HVAC system needed repairs. The technician was professional, arrived on time, and explained everything clearly. The whole process felt smooth and reliable, and our system is working perfectly again.
Thought they were local, only to find out my tech came all the way from a city more than an hour away. ARS exhibits all the signs of a company bought out by private equity in order to sell you new products instead of fixing what you have. I am wholeheartedly convinced that they sabotaged my AC in order to get me to buy an entire new one from them.
I dont typically leave these reviews. In fact, I prefer to leave positive reviews, but this is important to make others aware of.
My husband and I purchased a yearly furnace tune‑up from ARS through Home Depot’s Black Friday sale and scheduled the service for February 6th. The technician who arrived was polite, but instead of performing the tune‑up we paid for, he insisted that we needed an entirely new furnace. He even showed us photos that were not of our furnace and tried to pressure us into believing it was unsafe.
He then arranged for another ARS representative to visit our home to provide a quote. Unfortunately, this individual was extremely rude and unprofessional. He refused to give us a straightforward quote and said he needed at least an hour of our time just to “discuss” it. At that point, my husband asked him to leave.
We decided to get a second opinion from a reputable HVAC company and we’re very glad we did. They confirmed that our furnace is in perfectly good condition and completed the tune‑up without any issues. No replacement needed.
I recently had ARS evaluate my furnace, which ultimately had no issues. During that visit, I felt pressured to purchase a surge protector. I enrolled in their annual maintenance plan, and a few days later they serviced my AC unit.
After the AC inspection, I was told I needed to replace the evaporator coil due to rust (despite no refrigerant leak) and repair or replace the condenser fan motor. The total quoted cost exceeded $8,000. I was then offered a quote of approximately $10,000 for a full AC replacement.
I sought a second opinion and was informed that my unit is less than 10 years old and that, since there is no refrigerant leak, replacement of the evaporator coil is not immediately necessary. I was advised that I could continue operating the system and simply replace the fan motor if and when it fails, which would cost under $1,000. In short, there was no urgent need to replace the entire unit.
Additionally, ARS stated they were an approved Duke Energy contractor, but they are not listed as such on Duke Energy’s website.
Based on my experience, I found the sales approach to be overly aggressive and the recommendations questionable. I strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before proceeding with any major repairs or replacements.
LIARS! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. THEIR SALESMAN PROVIDED A QUOTE FOR A NEW HVAC SYSTEM TO BE FINANCED AT 8.99%. The finance company is saying the interest rate is 15.49%. NO ONE AT ARS OR LOWES WILL INVESTIGATE. I HANDED THEIR SALESMAN A CHECK FOR $4,000 AS A DOWNPAYMENT MADE OUT TO LOWES ON 01/29/26. AS OF TODAY 02/09/26 MY CHECK HAS NOT CLEARED.
I had an tech come out from ARS that was able to figure out a problem that no other company in town could figure out. I would recommend them to anyone!
UPDATE: Although my initial heat problem has been a nightmare to deal with and my house is 57 degrees since Monday....I FINALLY got to speak with Tammy (call center manager) who is an absolute ROCK STAR. She called and left me a message, I called right back. After speaking with her and letting her know of all the issues that I had she assured me that she'd be my point of contact and she's get this resolved for me. This morning, after speaking with her I am happy to announce that the tech will be on his way shortly with a new replacement unit. I haven't had heat since Sunday....and it's Thursday now, but thanks to Tammy and her amazing due diligence....it seems my issue will be resolved today! Virtual hugs to Tammy!!!!! I'm adding 2 more stars ONLY because of Tammy. If it weren't for her, I'd leave it at 1 star! She deserves a raise and a promotion!
I had my original heat pump system replaced with brand-new Rheem units by ARS Rescue Rooter in February 2025. The installation itself went smoothly, and initially I was satisfied with the work.
Unfortunately, the service experience since then has been unacceptable. On February 1, 2026, my primary heat pump failed—even though the system is less than a year old and under warranty. I scheduled a service appointment for that same evening between 6:00 and 9:00 PM. No technician arrived, and no one contacted me. I called multiple times throughout the evening and was repeatedly told I would receive a callback within 10–15 minutes. No call ever came.
Later, I was informed that my service request had been canceled by dispatch for “failure to confirm,” despite the booking department’s notes clearly showing that I confirmed the appointment at 5:56 PM. I was promised a call the following morning to reschedule, which never happened. I had to call again to secure another appointment.
When a technician finally arrived, I was told the unit would either require a very difficult repair or a full replacement. Once again, I was told I would receive a follow-up call explaining next steps. I never did.
After a severe snow and ice storm, my home temperature dropped to 57 degrees. Over the next several days, I called no fewer than fifteen times seeking an update, with almost no callbacks. The only information I eventually received was that a part had been ordered and that it would take approximately five business days to restore heat—an unacceptable outcome for a nearly new, warranty-covered system that cost approximately $25,000.
The lack of communication, missed appointments, and failure to follow through at every step have been extremely disappointing. Based on this experience, I would not recommend ARS Rescue Rooter to anyone considering HVAC work.
Terrible company -- bought out a local HVAC company and they are the worst now: high prices, commissions-based, and lack of knowledge.
Paid 19K to have furnace and AC replaced by the LAUREL MD Franchise. Nice "slick" salesman named Brett. Gave me options. Was told that the units would be eligible for the Energy Credit. When I checked the paper to get a QM which is required by the IRS Not there! Called, got nothing. Stupid me didn't think I being lied to. Seems I overpaid for the units and No Tax credit. Hell ON TOP OF EVERYTHING ELSE both the AC and Furnace HAVE TERRIBLE ENERGY RATINGS. THESE ARE FRANCHISES!! NEITHER OWNERS OR THEIR "CORPORATE" WILL HELP FIX ANYTHING.
