★☆☆☆☆ Quick attendance
★☆☆☆☆ £288 paid. Fault unresolved. Refund refused.
Bains attended quickly, but the neighbour confirms they stayed less than ten minutes. They removed a smoke alarm and attributed the RCD tripping to “loose cabling in the smoke alarm”. They then confirmed: “Yeah the electricity was up and running last night.” I have WhatsApp screenshots proving both statements.
The tenants arrived without power. Another electrician found water in a kitchen downlight causing the tripping. Bains declined to return and refused any refund.
I was told cash payment would carry no VAT, but bank transfer would. When I accepted the call out charge of £240 plus Vat suddenly it was £300 plus vat because the engineer was coming from further away. The message requesting £300 plus VAT and my final invoice were subsequently deleted from WhatsApp. I saved the invoice and paid £288 including VAT.
The engineer also removed the ‘loose cable’ alarm from my property causing the interlinked system to need a full renewal of system at a cost.
They also directed me to review HKB, despite invoicing me as Bains Electrical. The connection was never explained.
Quick to attend, deeply disappointing investigation, communication and aftercare.
