It delivers to me like two days in advance, which is a surprise

For a retailer charging premium prices, Browns delivers shockingly outdated customer service.

First, when I called customer service, the agent addressed me by name and accessed my customer file based on the phone number displayed in their system, without asking me to verify my identity. A recognized phone number should not replace identity verification. I expect proper safeguards when someone accesses or discusses my personal information. Browns’ leadership needs to take this seriously and train its staff accordingly.

Second, if you carry exclusive brands such as The Lane at premium prices, customers deserve accurate sizing equivalents. Your boxes label EU 39 as a North American size 9 and EU 40 as a size 10. Yet the international sizing standard ISO 19407:2023 recommends EU 39/US women’s 8 and EU 40/US women’s 9 for footwear graded in European sizes. Your printed equivalents differ by a full size and led me to buy the wrong sizes for my daughter twice. Browns needs to correct the equivalents on its boxes and product listings. Customers should be able to trust your sizing information without discovering discrepancies through repeated purchases.

Finally, I asked when size 41 would be available. The sales agent had no idea and told me to check every day to see whether inventory had changed. Every day. Apparently, monitoring Browns’ inventory is now the customer’s job. Where is the restock notification or an offer to follow up?

This has been an incredibly frustrating experience: questionable identity verification, misleading sizing equivalents, and customer service that leaves the customer doing the work.

With fewer shoe stores to choose from in Montreal, experiences like this are even more frustrating. Limited competition should not be an excuse for poor service. Browns, do better.

The images on the website are exactly what the product looks like. I'm never surprised or disappointed. I can zoom in really close and get the detail I require and I have not been disappointed with any purchase from you yet. And I've had quite a few over the years. In my town where I live we don't have any decent shoe stores and I like high-end brand name footwear so ordering from Brown's is super easy for me and it only takes a few days to get it. It's a great option if you don't have a lot of stores in your area. I have never had to return anything so I can't speak to that experience but I'm sure it's just as easy as ordering.
