Bought an office chair there
Bought an office chair there. Spokane office.
Staff and service were great.
BuyWander Chicago
I highly recommend BuyWander Chicago. I go there almost every week to pick up the items I’ve won, and I have consistently had a good experience with the staff.
Even when the pickup area is very busy and many customers are waiting, the roadside pickup team and the staff who carry and load the items continue to be friendly, patient, and helpful. They work very hard, often under pressure, and they always try their best to assist customers and keep the process moving.
I especially hope the management recognizes the effort of these frontline staff. They are doing physically demanding work, dealing directly with customers, and helping to create a positive experience for people who come to collect their items. From what I have seen, they truly work hard and deserve to be appreciated, recognized, and fairly compensated for the contribution they make to the company.
Thank you to the BuyWander Chicago team for your hard work and good service.
Sacramento now has a new office here…
Sacramento now has a new office here and I was excited about the large amount of items they carry. I was so disappointed !
I purchased 12 items three were served bucket chairs that were not a great find. I spent $150 for gently used chairs . I drove one hour to pick them up . I spent 45 minutes in 102’ tempura only to have them row out one plastic container of items !! I said “ this is wrong I have 3 chairs I bought “ first they didn’t have it on their list ! I had to show them from my phone . So he told me to cross the road and ask the lady under the mad up 8x10 tent ( not even inside ) to look for my furniture . Another 10 minutes in this heat and she said “ looks like their LOST” what ??
How do you just Loose three swevil bucket chairs ? They didn’t spin there way out of their where house did they?
I drove an hour away and $50 worth of gas in my hog of a truck to pick up 12 small items! I went for my chairs ! So they then said , wait a week to see if we find them , if not we can refund you then! I asked for something stating I didn’t pick them up so I can have a reference to it later ? They claimed to have sent me that info . They didn’t specify the details . I doubt they will be found ! On top of that, I bought a bottle of k18 hair mask for my hair ! I pull it out of the tapped box and it’s empty ! Completely empty ! I paid like $22 for an empty hair mask !
Needless to say, they are Jonny on the spot to charge you $2:00 a items if you can’t make your appointment time, but they can’t spend the time to make sure your order is complete before you arrive ? Maybe they should hire staff to go over all pulled inventory for the day and contact people when there order is not complete !! I think if they find your items maybe they should absorb the cost of deliver , after all , they lost the inventory ! Why should I spend another $50 and half my day to travel out again ! Maybe then they would be more careful of what goes in and out of their doors , because they know it will cost them money if they don’t !! I will never order from them again , and since I am a retailer , they lost a good customer ! I use another auction house in the area and never once did they not have my items when I came to pick up . They also had the one minute re-set clock for bidding , which that way you don’t have snipping at the last minute !! They are big enough to have beater customer support !! They suck big time ! Get it together , and stop getting so big and expanding in many areas , if you are not willing to improve the store you have open now ! Sooner or later it will be the end of your business , if you treat your base like puppets !
Bidder Beware
I had a concerning experience with BuyWander’s Max Bid system. I entered a $301 Max Bid near the end of an auction. After the auction closed, the customer-facing bid history showed the previous bid at $251, followed directly by my winning bid of $301.
I contacted support because I wanted to understand and verify how the price jumped from $251 to $301. Unfortunately, after several exchanges, I was left with less confidence in the bidding process, not more.
My concern is simple: once an auction is over, the completed bid history should transparently show the bidding activity that determined the final price. A bidder should be able to verify why they are being charged a particular amount without relying on information that isn’t visible in the customer-facing auction history.
Because I couldn’t independently verify the final price, I chose not to complete the purchase. I hope BuyWander improves the transparency of its completed auction histories.
Fun and I've saved a lot of money.
I was a little bit skeptical about trying this business because of bad reviews but I have had nothing but good luck so far with the Denver location. Things have been as advertised. If it says appears new it is, if it says gently used or need some minor fix or a major fix it's accurate.
I am in the process of renovating my home which I bought as a fixer upper and I have saved a lot of money buying light fixtures and sink vanities, as well as furnishings like washable rugs and curtains. I always take a screenshot of the item listed and Google search to see what it's selling for and with that in mind I decide what my maximum bid would be. I have been able to purchase $300 floating vanity for $21, but three washable rugs for a total of about $50 and retail would have been about 380.
I have also tried one of their mystery boxes which was fun. I thought it was well worth the value and between myself and my family everything was usable.
Picking items up was easy, quick and the staff was courteous. And you can return items for 7 days. So far there's been nothing I needed to return.
I think the most important thing is that people need to carefully read the descriptions. Note if the item is in new condition or needs a repair etc. As long as I've been careful about doing that, I haven't been disappointed.
⭐ 1 STAR
⭐ 1 STAR — BUYER BEWARE. AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE, I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM BUYWANDER AGAIN.
I was a repeat BuyWander customer. After seeing how this company handles a problem that they themselves admit they caused, I’m done.
I purchased TWO portable air conditioners advertised by BuyWander as 16,000 BTU units capable of cooling rooms up to 850 sq. ft.
I drove several hours to their Salt Lake City location specifically to pick them up.
After getting them home, I discovered something unbelievable:
THEY WERE ONLY 8,000 BTU UNITS.
Half the advertised BTU rating.
This wasn’t an issue with cosmetic condition. It wasn’t buyer’s remorse. It wasn’t something I misunderstood.
BuyWander advertised and sold one specification and provided something materially different.
And BuyWander subsequently ADMITTED THE LISTING ERROR IN WRITING.
That’s when I learned what BuyWander customer service apparently means when THEY make the mistake.
Their solution?
Drive several hours back and return them.
So BuyWander makes the listing error, BuyWander provides the wrong merchandise, and the CUSTOMER gets to lose additional hours and spend more money driving around to correct it.
I tried repeatedly to find a reasonable solution.
I offered to keep the incorrect units for a partial refund.
NO.
I offered to take BUYWANDER STORE CREDIT instead of cash — meaning they could keep my money.
NO.
While this was happening, I actually purchased two additional portable AC units FROM BUYWANDER for only $46 and $38 plus buyer premiums. I offered another compromise: give me $96.60 in BuyWander credit, I’ll keep the incorrectly advertised units, continue doing business with you, and we’ll call the entire thing resolved.
NO.
Then I was told the matter could be reviewed by a manager.
So I waited.
And followed up.
And waited.
Meanwhile, the return deadline continued getting closer.
After DAYS of emails and escalation, I finally received the store’s decision.
Their big “accommodation”?
They extended the deadline so I could return the incorrectly advertised merchandise during my next pickup.
That’s it.
After BuyWander admitted its listing was wrong, after multiple attempts to compromise, and after days waiting for management, their solution was essentially to give me additional time to bring THEIR mistake back to THEM.
And the icing on the cake was being told:
“Moving forward, please make sure returns are completed by the return deadline shown on your Orders page.”
Seriously?
The only reason the return deadline became an issue was because I spent days waiting for BuyWander to decide whether they would take responsibility for their own admitted listing error.
This experience should be a warning to anyone considering buying expensive or specification-dependent merchandise from BuyWander.
DO NOT ASSUME THE LISTING IS ACCURATE.
Inspect absolutely everything before you leave.
Check model numbers.
Check specifications.
Take screenshots of the auction listing before it disappears.
Save your receipts.
And understand that if BuyWander’s listing is materially wrong, based on my experience, you may still be expected to spend YOUR time and YOUR money correcting THEIR error.
I have screenshots of the original 16,000 BTU listings, the SKUs, my purchases, the products I actually received, and the entire email conversation — including BuyWander acknowledging the mismatch and refusing every proposed partial refund or credit.
I’m returning the units and ending my business with BuyWander.
They didn’t just lose this transaction.
They lost a repeat customer who would have continued spending money with them over a problem that could have been resolved with less than $100 in STORE CREDIT.
If this is how a company treats a repeat customer when the company is admittedly responsible for the problem, I have absolutely no confidence in what would happen with a larger or more expensive purchase.
One star because zero isn’t an option. Buyer beware.
Hidden fees, constantly changing policies, no customer service
I started buying from them when they opened in Portland. Things were good at first and I was picking up at least once a week. Yes, some of the stuff was broken or not as advertised but returns were easy and the customer service was good. As the months passed it got worse and worse. They kept changing the pickup policies and process without notification. For example, at first, you went inside and were greeted, checked in, and asked to wait while they retrieved your pre-picked items. Then you had to go in and check yourself in on a tablet while the employees acted like you were an idiot for not knowing how to do this despite it being different the week before. A couple of weeks later I was yelled at for getting out of my car because they were now coming to the car. Again, no notice. It is not like they didn't have my email since they sent non-stop marketing. Then they started changing all the purchasing and return rules without updating the app. The employees never seemed to have a clue when or why the rules changed. If they couldn't find an item, they gave you the option to credit it back or pick it up on your next trip. If they still couldn't find it they were supposed to credit you back but suddenly, they couldn't give you the credit because it was past the return date. Even though they were the ones that lost the item. Then they decided that you couldn't decline more than 10 won items a month. There was no forewarning of this, it didn't even start at the beginning of the month. Previously, you could bid on multiple listings of the same item to increase your chances, if you won more than one, you deleted it from your cart and it was relisted. There were always strict timelines for paying for your purchases - around 24 hours. If you missed the deadline, all the items were immediately relisted. That is what the rules in the app said was supposed to happen. The only fees were if you did not show up to your pickup appointment. Meanwhile, pickups are taking longer and longer. Initially, items paid for were automatically added to your next pickup appointment. Then that stopped without notice so when I showed up for my pickup, most of the stuff wasn't there. I made another appointment but then it was past the 7 days so I was unable to return things. Next they changed the appointment process again where the calendar showed that only certain items were available at certain appointments. For example, the 10'am appointment shows 13 of 14 items available, 10:30 appointment shows 3 things available. Once again, the employees had no idea what I was talking about until I showed them the app. There were entire days where you could not pick up your full order. This seemed intentional in order to not allow people to return items since the return 7 day period starts at the end of the auction, not from when you pick it up. Then one day they decided everything that wasn't paid for had a $2 relisting fee. A relisting fee for something completely automated that the employees had never even pulled off the shelf. There was no notice. There was no change in instructions or details on the app. The fees were not listed anywhere. I had an order of 40 or so small items that I missed the deadline for paying. Things I did want and had every intention of paying for. When I realized it and went back to rebid on the items, my account was blocked saying that I could not bid until I paid over $80 in fees for things I had never received. I repeatedly emailed the customer service to explain that there was no notice and that I had never agreed to these fees. I just asked them to remove the fees and unfreeze my account and I would follow the new rules. They never responded. So I commented all this on their social media posts. They responded and said I should have read the instructions better. I responded with screenshot of the instructions that still had no mention of the fees and they blocked. Despite the fact that some of the stuff listed was literal broken garbage, the initial rules and business model seemed good. I bought a bunch of supplies for remodeling our house, Halloween costumes for life, clothes, household goods and even a TV. I did have to return a TV and a monitor for broken screens because they didn't even look at the product before listing it as appears new. They also have an incredibly hard time with rugs. At least 3 times I had to return a rug that was listed a certain size but turned out to be MUCH bigger. How do you confuse an 8x10 rug with a 15x20 rug? I don't know if it got bought out, got new management or just got greedy but I am very disappointed that they turned out to just be scam artists rather than people who are trying to reduce the waste in the world.
Disappointing Return
After driving 40 minutes to pick up the item, the item was not as described. I bid on 6 two packs (12 items total). I was delivered 1 two-pack (2 items). The only recourse was to keep the 2 items for the full price I already paid, or get a refund and leave with nothing. The customer should not have to pay for the company's mistake. A better solution would be "Sorry, our bad. Would you like to keep the item with a full refund, or just have a full refund?"
Long wait even with an appointment is not worth saving money on items listed wrong. Horrible quality control and customer service all around.
This review is for their West Sacramento location, but likely applies to all locations:
1. Took over 30 minutes to pick up 2 items with an appointment scheduled right when they opened. I even got directed into an "Express Line" with only 1 other person. Why have appointments if we still have to wait 30+ minutes in line? Clearly not an isolated issue based on other reviewers.
2. Workers were very dismissive and clearly don't like working here. I've seen turtles cross the road faster than some of them were moving.
3. This company doesn't care about you or your time, only your money. Most the positive reviews are likely just people trying to get the free "WanderBucks" reward.
4. Saving a couple bucks is not worth wasting an extra 30 minutes due to their lack of organization and staffing.
Much better and faster auctions out there to spend my money at, include an awesome locally-owned & family run one just a few blocks down the street.
You can report them…
So I brought back a “appears new” blow up kiddie pool for my daughters birthday bc it was moldy AF and had 4 holes in it. The broken desk I can’t give away and the steamer is also moldy within the 7day period window and THEY STILL REFUSED TO REFUND ME!!! So I did a dispute and I reported them to division of consumer protection agency. You can too if you’re interested in getting them held accountable for scamming people. Check your local agencies for who u need to report them too. The agency I reported was in Utah
Do not recommend Buy Wander unless you…
Do not recommend Buy Wander unless you want to wage a lot of time. You might wait for hours and not get any products, because they gave them to another person. Or, you might buy a few items and find them missing tools buttons, screws. For example, we ordered a a couch. It only had 1/3 of the couch. We ordered a desk, it was missing hardware. The list goes on and on. But it frustrates to wait 4 hours and then to tell you we have away your items. I been holding my Lee for such a long time. They can’t even offer customer a restroom.
I bought a couch that was supposedly…
I bought a couch that was supposedly valued at $1000+ for $211. After lots of messaging to make make sure I bought an actual couch, they informed me it was just the chaise section of a couch. Save your time and money…. You’ll never know what you’ll actually get.
Right..all the things for $1.00 i don't think so
I didnt purchase anything i just wanted to say their tik tok video says look at all the wonderful things you can get forc$1.00 I checked out their site i did not see anything at all for $1.00. In fact everything was well over $1.00. Bad advertising leads me to believe they are a bad company.
Don't just don't!!
Buyer Beware. I just bought a destroyed defective heater from the guys. Because I was traveling, I tried to return a few days outside their not so generous 7 day window. They refused! I im stuck with a non working paperweight. Lesson learned, NEVER AGAIN
Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware. Products were not as listed in auction description. 2 items were broken and one was curoded; even though all 3 were listed as "appears new'. One bin came with incorrect parts. They do have a return policy, but items MUST be returned within 7 days, no exceptions. Even if you live on an island with ferry access only or if you have travel issues, there are absolutely no exceptions. I learned an expensive lesson. I will say pick up was easy.

Grifen and Merida are amazing at buywonder. I’ve been coming to buy wonder for over a year now and I feel like I’ve grown a bond with both. Great customer service and so kind.

Always a deal!!
I have been buying since they opened…
I have been buying since they opened this year. But, can’t wait for my last pickup, to wipe my hands clean of this business. I have spent a few thousand since open. Long stories short… Every single electronic I’ve purchased, even “ appears new” has been broken, or, flat out doesn’t work. They really don’t check the merchandise. I live well over an hour away, so I wait and combine my won auctions, to do one pickup. This puts auctions past the 7 day mark for returns. I have even had pick ups booked, and, it’s past the pickup day rule, and they just put it back! No word, no heads up, nothing. You drive over an hour and it’s not there! They should honor if u have a pickup scheduled, but, no. And, watch your credit back to payments because they miss a lot of items to credit your account, but say it’s too late. They act like the computer does it, and, therefore they can’t, get it back or do anything about it. Do they honestly think people are that dumb?! Plus working out of town, 60+ hrs a week, with 2 hr commute each way on top, I don’t get to open a lot of my boxes right away, and, I’m not exaggerating when I say, most every item I’ve paid high dollar, or even not, is broken! JUNK! If you are on here to decide if u want to do this, DONT! Unless you have money to throw away. Unfortunately, live and learn. I have lost well over $1000 in broken, or items I never even received. I’d count how many it says I’m picking up, but, I never counted my WON auctions, and am missing SO MANY things!! And, when they recently put back several items because it was after their date, yet, I had a pickup scheduled, that they didn’t flag, or say one single thing, and, it wasn’t there?! Last straw. It was beginning to be last straw anyway. Good riddens Buywander.
