Improper Financial Aid Denial
I don’t usually write reviews like this, but my experience with Capella University has been incredibly stressful and honestly overwhelming. What should have been a straightforward process turned into weeks of confusion, conflicting information, and emotional strain.
I was told by an enrollment specialist that I would need to start in May and that I would be dropped from my April courses. At the same time, my financial aid was still unresolved, leaving me in a situation where I didn’t know whether I was even allowed to continue. I tried multiple times to get clarity—waiting on hold for long periods, getting disconnected after 30 minutes not once but twice, and then finally speaking to financial aid only to be transferred again. Every conversation gave me a different answer. No one seemed to know what was actually going on.
Because of this confusion and lack of clear guidance, I made the decision to withdraw from my courses. Later, I was told something completely different—that I should not have withdrawn and that the system would have dropped me automatically. Now I’m left worried that I might be charged for something that happened because of their miscommunication. That kind of uncertainty is incredibly stressful, especially when you’re trying to focus on school and manage your future.
This experience has taken a real emotional toll. It’s exhausting to spend hours trying to get answers, only to feel like you’re being passed around without resolution. Students depend on financial aid offices to provide accurate information, and when that breaks down, it affects more than just paperwork—it impacts your stability, your time, and your peace of mind.
I truly hope Capella improves how they communicate and support students, because no one should have to go through this just to enroll and receive the aid they are supposed to have access to.
