If they treat employees so poorly, how are patients treated…?
In the end of March, I had an interview with HR, afterwards a more detailed interview regarding my background and English level with the Team Lead; and, I received an offer for remote job for the referral and authorization department at Century Medical and Dental Center Inc.
Before being fully onboarded to the team, I was supposed to have a 2-week paid internship. Internship, according to the information provided to me by HR (Alina P.), is paid at a 50% rate. Which I agreed upon.
So, on April 6th, 2026, I started my internship, which lasted 2 weeks. According to my Team Lead Aliona T - I was doing very well, in terms of gaining relevant knowledge and job specific expertise, and was performing daily work tasks very well.
Therefore, a zoom meeting with the manager from NY office was scheduled for Monday April 20th, 10am NY time, in order to verify my job-related knowledge and whether I am well prepared already to start performing duties without further close supervision.
Zoom meeting started on-time. The NY office manager stated her name (but I’ve had trouble remembering it, the only 2 not important aspects I remembered, was that the lady was russian-speaking and wearing eyeglasses), nonetheless, the meeting started. I was asked to tell a bit more about myself, my background etc. (which is completely normal for such acquaintance). After briefly describing my previous role for US-based company, I was interrupted by that manager, asking to provide more details about my other positions as well. To confirm, 99% of my previous positions were completely not related to current job at the referral and authorization department - neither directly, nor indirectly. After a few minutes explaining the lady my experience I had in marketing roles and banking sector (during which I was interrupted a number of times in rude manner), I understood that the office manager in NY - has completely no clue of what I am describing about my past job-related duties. How I understood this? Well, after a few rude and angry interruptions with statements such as “Your are being vague” - despite the fact that I have started providing very-very specific examples, so that the office manager could get a chance to understand the specifics of duties at the banking sector that I had.
What is more important, I was never asked about what I’ve been doing during those 2 weeks of internship, absolutely 0 job-related questions in order to confirm my expertise for this role.
Long story short. After understanding that the office manager has no understanding of what I am saying regarding my past duties in banking and marketing, she started interrupting more often and now in russian only. And after final interruption she told the 3rd person in the meeting - the Team Lead - “This guy won’t work here”. And… just broke the call…
Well what can I say - very “professional” attitude for a Medical Center representative.
In the end of the day, my Team Lead began ignoring me. After a sequence of sent texts and non-answered outgoing calls, she said she has no information whatsoever. And when I asked about my pay for the 2-week internship, I was told that it is only paid “if you stay working with us”. In addition, the team lead didn’t receive a decision from the NY office manager regarding me. What???? :) It’s day 3 now and no response (however, it is obvious).
So, if such shocking behaviour and actions towards personnel are present within the company - it’s scary to imagine how they feel about patients…
