2 and a half months without any mail or a working intercom!
The intercom broke on 27 July. A neighbour emailed and phoned Charles White that day. No reply.
I emailed on 31 July. Nothing.
I emailed again on 2 August, copying every relationship manager and even a managing director from the Edinburgh office. Still nothing.
On 8 August, someone finally replied asking what the issue is (do they not speak to each other in this company?).
By 11 August, I was told the whole system needed replaced.
On 1 September, a quote was finally approved, after residents were told two quotes had been obtained without any input from us. We were told we this system would allow access via a mobile phone.
We were told the new system would be installed the week of 29 September. No surprise that never happened. It was finally installed on 14 October, a full 11 weeks and 2 days with no mail and no intercom.
I emailed again on 15 October asking if it could be connected to my doorbell, rather than to my mobile phone. A week later, still no reply. Staff regularly take a week or more to respond to even simple emails.
The installation itself is messy, with holes left where the old unit was. Once rain gets in and it breaks again, we will probably be waiting another 2 and a half months for them to fix it again...
Do you think paying £1000 a year and getting this kind of service is reasonable? They also have not held any AGM this year for residence to voice their concerns.
We are also waiting for a fix for a rotting communal decking which they have known about for over two years.
Stay away from this company if you value your sanity.

I contacted Paul Sanders about faulty street lights in our development. I received a really fast response and the issue was reported immediately to the appropriate people to rectify the problem.
I had previously contacted Paul with some general questions and on that occasion I also received a fast professional response that immediately addressed by queries.
Paul is a great asset to Charles White.

We have been with CW for just over a couple of years now and I think that Robyn Rae in particular has been a great help to us. We formed a residents committee and with her constant help we have made many updates to our complex for the benefit of all the residents. We have just completed our annual budget review and the owners AGM with the Charles White team (CWL) and decided we would share our thoughts with others. CWL have been our factors for a number of years and we have been well supported by their various core contractors, most of whom have been coming here for years now, and all of whom are very good at communicating with the owners about what they are working on and keeping disruption to a minimum.
The CWL Relationship Team (Robyn as the leader and in our case, Caitlin looking after us) are good at listening to what we want (whether core services, additional works, site visits, reporting, etc) and trying to deliver it. It is of course incumbent on us to constructively engage with CWL staff and provide as much background and information as we can, but also, we need to be realistic about our expectations and what can realistically be achieved in any given situation. Robyn and Caitlin are both very positive by nature and that infectious enthusiasm gets things moving forward and resolved, even when there are little hiccups along the way.
As in most things in life, the more effort you put in the more you get out. If CWL are your factor, put the effort in and get to know your CRM (they are very likeable people) as it just makes everything easier when we are all on the same side and have an easy rapport.
Finally, I should mention that we have had a few small roof issues over the last few weeks resulting from wind damage and the response times and communication from CWL has been ideal and the contractor did a good job and kept us advised.

Having recently dealt with our Client Relationship Manager, Jessica, and our Development Inspector, John, I have found them both to be timely in their response and very helpful in their approach to finding solutions for the issues we have raised.
Both have taken an interest in the Development and are proactive in helping the owners maintain a high standard which is much appreciated.

Charles White have always given excellent service whilst managing our development. When unhappy with anything, Jessica, and previously Maria, were quick to sort anything out. Communication is always quick.
Our budget meeting tonight with Jessica and Robyn was extremely helpful. Both were on hand to answer any questions and when they couldn't answer my question re my monthly payments there and then, assured me they would double check when back in the office and get back to me, which I know they will. They were also able to advise on some potential work needing done and we were able to take this forward after hearing our views.

Eighteen months ago the residents of my block of retirement flats were told by our Factors that they were giving up that arm of their business. We spent some time researching the various companies who offer a factoring service and chose two to ask for presentations. We decided to go ahead with Charles White and they took over the role as our Factors one year ago. Our representative was Maria. At the end of our first year I have to say that they have more than fulfilled my expectations and I am very pleased that we chose Charles White to look after our building and manage our funds.
