Unfinished Wood
The wood of the bed frame has no finish. it is rough and seams untouched. Either they forgot one step of the process or it is the customers job to apply any coating / polishing (sand papering). Delivery was perfect except it came directly from China as it seamed and I had to unwrap all in tedious efforts to get it finally ready to set together. The futon is too short. I guess my choice of extra firm costs length. I bought the same bed before 21 years ago in Manhattan NY and from a store where you could actually see what you are getting. Here it is great online but I bet this is just a dispatcher and that explains the 7 weeks delivery.

after 6 weeks I am revising my former review. Very disappointed with the customer service and the mattress. I was told that the smell would go away after 2 weeks- why is this company sending out mattresses that have an odor? It is now 6 weeks and I cannot get rid of the smell and the company just tells me it will go away. It is so bad that I am in process of replacing the mattress- so do not waste your money. I have not seen anyone else mention this in the reviews- if in fact I received a lemon -it should have been replaced- very disappointing experinece.

Great Service, Good Product
Their service, shipping and website were all well-organized and efficient. I purchased a twin size shikibuton (3"), a protective cover for it, and a coconut coir pad to go under it for air circulation.
It isn't crazy luxurious, but it is comfortable. Fluffing it out every few days helps. It would be hard for shoulder-sleepers to enjoy, I think, but as a belly sleeper I've found the level of firmness reasonable.

I am so pleased with my shikifuton. It is so comfortable... a bit thicker and heavier than I thought it would be, but nonetheless I feel like I am in a cocoon when sleeping on it.
