Attended Candlelight Concert (Frankie Valli) in St. Albans cathedral last night. The performers were very good but I paid £95 for two seats and couldn't see much so ended up sitting at the side to watch it on the TV screens! The severe lack of candles was also very disappointing - hardly a candlelit concert. I'd seen photos of these concerts and the amount of candles looked amazing, but not here. Wouldn't go again - very disappointed.

I have given this two stars because of the performers and band, they were very good. However the sound quality was not great. Unfortunately the low rating is mainly due to the fact the tickets were expensive, we sat just 8 rows from the front but we're unable to see from halfway through the second half of the show, due to people standing.
They were encouraged to do this by the performers despite being asked at the start of the concert to only dance/stand at the sides of Exeter cathedral. Nothing was done by either the performers, organisers or the cathedral to get people to move or sit down. I attended with my husband who has health conditions meaning he cannot stand for long periods and my elderly friend who also wasn't able to stand. The seats were uncomfortable and due to the flood lighting the candles might as well not have been there as they had no affect at all.
I contacted the show and cathedral afterwards but received little response.
I would not recommend these shows to anyone!

Poor sound quality, uncomfortable seating. Felt like attending a school production. A shame really, as the artists were probably very good. This review following attending Meatloaf by candlelight at Chester cathedral tonight. So bad that we left in the interval.

I’m sitting in Guildford Cathedral on a hard chair and no visible candles (there’s a few artificial ones right at the front and I’m some distance from the front. The cathedral is beautiful but I’m listening to an unknown pink Floyd tribute band. They’re not bad. But honestly don’t waste your money. My friend and I paid £100 for this thinking it would be an amazing candlelit experience. I love Floyd and pay less to see the best Floyd uk tribute acts and I’d be sitting in a comfortable theatre with a decent view too. I feel we’ve been conned to pay so much for something that doesn’t exist- the candlelight!

Wakefield Cathedral, Country by Candlelight- What an Absolute racket - dreadful acoustics, poor pitchy singers and dreadful band, so loud it was painful. I have never walked out early of anything - but we left this after 15 mins of tuneless din

I attended a Concerts by Candlelight event at Chester Cathedral on 7 February. The performer was excellent, but the seating was a serious issue. Our paid seats were directly behind a large structural pillar, meaning there was no view of the stage at all. This obstruction was not shown or disclosed on the seating plan at the time of booking.

We paid £83 for the tickets and were forced to stand to see anything, and several other people around us were also leaving during the performance due to the same problem. I raised this with the organiser afterwards and did not receive a response.

After posting my experience, I noticed many similar reviews describing undisclosed obstructed views and a lack of engagement from the company. If the service you received was not as described and complaints go unanswered, it may be worth speaking to your bank about your options, including a debit card chargeback. I wish I had known this sooner.

Paid for 'B Zone' seats at the 'Dire Straits' event at Newcastle Cathedral, but the view was so obstructed that we couldn't see the stage. Complete waste of money. AVOID!

Yeah not great. No actual real candles 🕯️ believe it or not. Uk tribute acts playing songs to backing tracks. For the price of these tickets ya’d see better in Benidorm.

I have been trying to contact this company ref my tickets which I have not got with only a week to go. I sent a request via their website (no telephone number) a week ago and still I have not had a response this is now urgent and they are not responding and now I am unable to send anything further via their website and have no other way of contacting them DO NOT USE

A beautiful and unforgettable experience.

The candlelit setting inside Guildford cathedral created an incredible atmosphere, and the sound quality was outstanding. Hearing Fleetwood Mac songs in that environment gave them a whole new depth.

Highly recommend Concerts by Candlelight concerts if you’re looking for something truly special.

Just seen Fleetwood Mac at Guildford Cathedral. What a great evening! The singing and the musicians were exceptional. The setting was perfect and by the end of the evening everyone was up dancing and left wanting more.

Absolutely dreadful, Don’t waste your money. The views are woeful so are the act and acoustics. What a waste of money. So disappointed, We bought this as a Christmas present and left 30 mins before the end.

I went to a Christmas by candlelight at St. Albans Cathedral on 18th December. I bought Band A tickets so was sitting in the middle - Row S seats 8 & 9.

I couldn’t see anything !! The singers were slightly above the floor by just one step. So were more or less on exactly the same level as me. Which was ridiculous !!

Why did they not stand on a proper high up stage ?? If I had bought cheaper seats and sat on either side, I would have at least been able to see TV’s, but because I sat in the middle I couldn’t see a thing and there were no screens or TV’s to watch.

I was extremely disappointed !!

I could hear them singing, and I enjoyed their voices, however, I might as well have sat outside the cathedral and just listened and I would have saved myself £93 !!

Just not worth the price !!

I tried to contact them on 2 occasions to discuss the matter with them, but they didn’t bother to reply.

I bought two tickets for the Christmast Concert by Candlelight, which is playing now as I write this. I had to leave the Lichfield Cathedral venue before the show had even started. I had two tickets because I can't go anywhere without a carer. I have serious issues. So I'd bought my Access Card ticket and carer ticket, we had seats on the front row but we never got near them. The people staffing the event were a disgrace. The way we were treated and the angry authoritarian arrogance with which we were put down by these disgusting employees says everything about this event that you need to know.
The last time we went to a Candlelight event at the Lichfield Cathedral, earlier this year, we also had a vile experience. Again, we'd booked early and got two front row seats - which I have to have because even with a carer, I cannot be in the middle of a crowd - and two people were in our front row seats and with anger, they claimed that they'd received an email changing their seats to ours. I had to argue them out of our seats, but I was in a stressed condition that I couldn't enjoy the show at all. And all because their staff don't get even close to making sure that people only sit in the seats that are the ones on the tickets they have. But they'd allowed liars to take our seats. Tonight though, we never even got to the front row where our seats were. All because of the way we were treated after we'd got through the door and all we'd tried to do was get to the snack bar, which was empty with no one being served and their staff in vicious patronizing voices with waving arms told us to get out of it. The whole experience, every second, of entering the Cathedral had been unpleasant with not a smile to be seen anywhere on the arrogant authoritarian staff. But without going into detail after detail of what happened, I couldn't stay there and had to go home before things would come to a panic collapse. So that's money I've wasted, time I've wasted, happiness I've wasted. These people just take your money, don't care about what kind of people are used as staff at the events, clearly never set guidelines for their staff to be pleasant, helpful and decent. They just want your money and don't care one jot about you having a safe and pleasant experience. I need a refund for my tickets because of this. But I bet this lot won't even reply to me. I'll update this review if there's ever an update to be had.

Booked restricted view seats at Lincoln Cathedral and had an amazing time. The singers were so good, the Xmas tracks were on point, they got people singing and dancing, it was a truly fun way to kick off Xmas. Tickets were a bit on the pricey side but it was worth every penny.

Booked tickets for "restricted view" however we had "no view" and were watching on a television, I have written to the company to give them feedback and also asked for compensation however I have not had a reply.Very misleading information when booking tickets,would not book anything with this company again.
