They do a great job in a tough business
Honestly, these people do a really great job in a really challenging environment.
They find suitable, welcoming venues.
They provide clear information about event location, timing and format.
They offer a simple, reliable booking and matching system.
When things go a bit wrong, they handle it calmly.
I've been to four events. In one, there were 6 females, 12 males. This can happen entirely out of control of Date in a Dash. People are no-shows, and don't cancel. The host handled this as well as possible. Briefing the guys, providing a clear way forward, and also sweeping the venue to invite any other females that wanted to join a free spot.
Remember, they cannot guarantee your outcomes and they are subject to the reliability of individuals turning up. They do a great job of the rest.

They conduct decent events
They conduct decent events, however sometimes the male to female ratio is very skewed towards the males. So, I'd prefer it if they kept it at 50-50 or at the very max 60-40 and restrict male entry if it went over 60% males.

Terrible company
Terrible company ! They cancellled the event on the same day and did not offer a refund , I emailed them asking to be booked into alternative event but they did not reply at all ! Very rude and poor customer service !

You've attended 105 DateinaDash events over the last 14 years - almost since we first started the company. That's more events than the overwhelming majority of our customers will attend in a lifetime.
During those 14 years we've also provided you with numerous complimentary tickets and goodwill gestures. Despite all of that, you never once left a positive review.
One event was cancelled due to low numbers. You emailed asking to be transferred to another event. Before we'd even had the opportunity to respond, you posted this review describing us as "very rude" and providing no context whatsoever about the previous 105 events you'd attended.
We think most people reading this review will ask themselves a simple question: if DateinaDash was truly a "terrible company", why would someone continue attending our events for 14 years and book 105 of them?
After supporting you for well over a decade, we're disappointed this is how our relationship has ended. We wish you all the best, but we don't believe DateinaDash is the right fit for you going forward, and we won't be accepting any future bookings.

Paid £20 for a speed dating night, and it got cancelled due to low numbers - that’s fine, this happens…
They told me I could reschedule, and once I found a new date I could make, I received zero response. It’s only when I followed up for a third time (after the date had passed) that they got back to me, saying my email went “under their radar”.
I have since asked for a full refund, and again received radio silence - this was a month ago!
Also when you try contact their phone number it hangs up straight away - an even clearer sign that this is a scam.
I strongly advise that you do not get sucked in and give them any money.

A scam is a business that deliberately takes customers' money through deception or has no intention of providing the service purchased. That is simply not what happened here.
Your event was cancelled due to low numbers, which can occasionally happen with live events. Rather than keeping your money, we offered you the opportunity to transfer your booking in accordance with our cancellation policy.
After seeing your review, we immediately carried out a manual investigation and discovered that your previous emails had unfortunately been filtered into our spam folder. As soon as we identified the issue, your refund was processed in full. At no point was there any intention to ignore your emails or withhold your refund. It was an unfortunate email filtering issue that only came to light once we became aware of your complaint.
To describe a legitimate business as a "scam" because an event was cancelled and your emails were inadvertently filtered is both inaccurate and unfair. DateinaDash has been operating continuously since 2011, has organised thousands of successful speed dating events, and has welcomed well over 100,000 singles. Every week, genuine customers attend our events, leave reviews and make real connections.
As part of the launch of our new website tomorrow, we are also introducing a new customer support system, and our legacy telephone number is being withdrawn. Our focus is on providing faster, more reliable support through our online help channels so that every enquiry is properly logged and responded to.
We're pleased we were able to resolve the matter by issuing your refund in full as soon as the problem was identified. While we accept that we should have found your email sooner, we do not accept the allegation that DateinaDash is fraudulent in any way.

They don't respect their refund policy
I bought a ticket for an event on Eventbrite and their refund policy was - refunds allowable up to 7 days before the event. I was within this timeframe. When I requested a refund, they said that was not their website policy to give refunds so refused to. When I told them my consumer rights in terms of having agreed to the refund policy on eventbrite, they ghosted me. No response. Shame on them.
Update: Their response below stating I cancelled last minute is an outright lie! I cancelled 3 weeks before the date of the event.

II booked a ticket for a speed dating event in London 2 months ago – it was cancelled last minute. I had to write in twice to get a response from the organisers, which came several days after the event got cancelled. They said they can put me on to another event.
Which I accepted.
Guess what: the other event got cancelled, too.
If you try to ring them, the fee is £0,98 per call – and their phones are always off. Try ring twice, you're another 2 quid down.
You get the picture...
So at this point, I wrote in - multiple times – to get a refund for my original ticket; had to threaten with a bad review.
You can guess they haven't refunded me.
Stay away from this specific company, there are plenty others in the UK / in London that won't rip you off like this one.
You've been warned.

Good event but disappointing customer service.
I have been to multiple events which were fun and organised and a refreshing change from dating apps and I would recommend it.
The reason for the 3 star review concerns poor customer service issues experienced after the event.
It started with somebody I wanted to match not being an option to select on the online matching platform. After receiving an initially quick response from Rob to try and resolve the issue, I had to send multiple chaser emails to see whether any progress had been made on the matter. Rob specicified the timescales in which he would respond to me but did not ahdere to them.
Whilst I can fully accept and understand this may have been unsuccessful for reasons outside of DateinaDash's control, customer service responses and timescales, even communicating unsuccessful outcomes, are within their control and this was the disappointing part.
Additionally, I purchased a bolt on ticket for a future event for £10 which was not honoured as two email requests to the email address as specified on the booking confirmation was not met with a response.
To try and avoid the email traffic, I tried to call the number on the date in a dash website. Despite defined open hours of 09:00 - 17:00 7 days per week, multiple unsuccessful attempts were met with a generic message saying the number is unavailable. The is a premium rate number which costs money to call without even getting to talk to anyone.
I didn't want to leave a bad review for what was a well organised and fun event but the poor communication left no alternative and I believe these reviews should encompass the whole customer experience before, during and after the event.
16 July 25 - Update
Score increased following attendance of another fun and well organised event and release of an improved website clearly specifying how to redeem bolt on tickets and removal of the premium rate phone number. Improved response times to queries have also been experienced.

What makes this review particularly confusing is that you originally left us a 5-star review, describing the event as "fun and organised", "much better than dating apps" and stating that you "would recommend" it.
The event itself has not changed. The reason your review was subsequently reduced to 1 star appears to be a post-event issue relating to a specific attendee you wished to match with.
As explained at the time, this attendee was not available within the matching system. You asked whether we could contact them and, as a goodwill gesture, we agreed to do so on your behalf. We did exactly that. Unfortunately, we have not received a response and that is not something within our control.
With regard to the bolt-on ticket, redemption instructions were included in the email sent at the time of purchase.
We also acknowledge that our response times were slower than ideal. However, it is important to distinguish between the quality of the event itself and the outcome of a particular match enquiry after the event had ended.
By your own account, the event was enjoyable, well organised and something you would recommend to others. We are therefore disappointed that a positive event experience has ultimately been represented as a 1-star review because we were unable to obtain a response from a third party.
Nevertheless, we wish you the very best with your future dating journey.

So myself & 3 of my friends thought we were going to the speed dating event in Balham last night. We got there and the man behind the bar said it was cancelled & it wasn’t the first time this had happened at this venue. We didn’t even know about it or get notified of this via email or anything….
Still not heard anything back from anyone about why it was cancelled & obviously no refund?
The man behind the bar also said it wasn’t the first time they’d cancelled last min..

Lots of cancellations
Back in the day it wasn't that hard to book an event with Dateinadash and actually meet people. In fact, it was not unusual to meet more people at their events compared to other companies. This allowed me to tolerate some of their flaws.
What are those flaws?
Their events can be quite chaotic and disorganised. I was given a scorecard but there were no name badges so it makes it harder to write down someone's name, especially in a loud room. This makes it harder to match with people.
The hosts which I have met could have been more approachable and shown a bit more enthusiasm for the job. Unlike other events I have been to they have a tendency to isolate themselves from the crowd rather than make people feel welcome.
The matching system on their website has issues. Some of the women did not appear on the list to match with. I understand this may be because their details were not provided to the organiser to create a profile. Its possible that some of these were added at a later date but once you submit your matches the website does not allow you to add any more making it impossible to match with these people. A lot of the women also did not have profile pictures - this is a big issue if you have two of them with the same name!
I tolerated all of the above because the other speed dating companies are not perfect. However, more recently they have been cancelling a lot of events and it seems that they can no longer reliably go ahead with the bookings that they take.
The speed dating industry does appear to be going through a challenging time at the moment and other providers have adjusted their event schedules in order to reflect this. It looks like Dateinadash are keeping the number of listed events the same as usual and increasing their cancellations instead. Eventually I got fed up with this and asked for a refund. The owner initially refused a refund citing their terms and conditions as if they were superior to consumer rights law. When I challenged this he agreed to a refund on the condition that they would not accept future bookings and asked me for the last 4 digits of my card number. This was provided to them but after this point I received no further communication or refund. I eventually got my money back by going to my bank and doing a chargeback.
UPDATE
A few points I would like to challenge in the owners response:
- A lot of other companies use name badges to help with the matching process. If you had a decent website where people could easily recognise those who they met then maybe these would not be necessary.
- I don't know for sure if a refund was issued before I started the chargeback process but I did wait a few days for you to reply before doing this. I would consider it reasonable to expect you to reply to indicate that a refund had actually been issued.
- Describing my communication as hostile is unfair considering that you did not reliably provide a service that I had paid for. My initial refund request was politely worded.
- I don't care that you are not willing to accept future bookings as I had no intention of making them anyway. The reason I mentioned it is because I think its important for people to see how you deal with complaints. You obviously have a right to choose who you do business with but I think it reflects badly upon you if that is your preferred way of responding to people.
- It is not unreasonable for reviews to reflect a customers most recent experience with a business. I think most people would agree that any satisfaction from past experiences is irrelevant if the service is not what it used to be. People reading this can decide for themselves but the direction of travel seems clear to me.

It’s interesting that after attending 22 of our events over a long period of time, this reviewer never once left a positive review or piece of feedback when they were happily continuing to attend event after event.
We’re not claiming we’re perfect. Running live events in London is challenging and, like every company in the industry, there are occasions where events need to be cancelled or venues changed due to numbers or venue issues. However, the picture painted here is simply not representative of the experience the vast majority of our customers have.
In fact, one of the reasons this customer continued attending 22 separate events is likely because our events historically attracted strong numbers and offered the opportunity to meet a lot of people in one night — something they acknowledge themselves in this review.
A few points also need correcting:
* Name badges are not used at many of our events intentionally, as a large number of customers prefer a more natural environment rather than feeling like they are at a corporate networking event.
* Profile photos are optional because many people value privacy when using dating services.
* If a guest registers very late or attends as a walk-in, their profile can occasionally appear later on the matching system, but we are always happy to manually assist with matches if contacted.
As for refunds, this customer was refunded. The reason communication stopped was because, after repeated complaints and hostility towards staff, we made the decision not to accept future bookings from them. That is entirely within our rights as a private business.
We appreciate constructive feedback from genuine customers, but we also think prospective attendees should note the context here: someone who attended 22 events with us over an extended period clearly saw value in what we offer for a very long time before deciding to post a lengthy negative review.

What I personally find disappointing is the character shown here. For a long time you attended events regularly, were friendly and pleasant in person, continued rebooking, and never once expressed these views publicly or left a positive review about any of the experiences you clearly enjoyed enough to return to 20+ times.
Yet the moment an event was cancelled, despite a refund already being processed, you escalated to a chargeback and began posting negative comments online.
People reading this can make up their own minds, but I do think it reflects poorly on someone to happily support and participate in a business for a long period, only to turn hostile the first time something does not go their way.
Loyalty and trust matter to us. We are not interested in hosting people who are happy to smile to our faces in person for months or years, only to turn hostile online the moment something does not go their way. Your actions have damaged your own credibility far more than they have damaged ours.

Absolutely awful experience
Absolutely awful experience. This was a gay speed dating event that got cancelled just 5 hours before the start time after people had already planned their evening around it. Then came the worst part: over two and a half weeks of completely ignoring my emails when I asked for a refund.
Before booking, I had seen other reviews mentioning last-minute cancellations and difficulties getting refunds back. Unfortunately, from my own experience, those complaints turned out to be completely true.
They seem happy to keep posting new events every couple of weeks, but based on my experience, I seriously question whether they ever manage to get enough people for these events in the first place. At this point it feels like they keep taking bookings without being able to properly deliver the events they advertise.
No communication. No apology. No refund. I eventually had to dispute the payment with my credit card company just to try to get my money back.
If you’re considering booking, be careful. This experience left a really bad impression.

We are sorry you were disappointed that the event did not go ahead, however a number of the claims in this review are simply untrue.
Firstly, the event was not cancelled “5 hours before” as stated. Guests were notified the day before the event.
Secondly, your statement that there was “no refund” is also incorrect. A refund was processed. Raising a chargeback after this does not change that fact.
We also reject the suggestion that our events “never get enough people.” We have successfully operated speed dating events across London since 2011 and continue to host thousands of attendees every year. In fact, the last gay speed dating event we held prior to this review went ahead successfully on Saturday 9th May.
Unfortunately, cancellations can occasionally happen in live events, particularly within smaller niche categories where attendance numbers are more unpredictable. We understand this can be frustrating when people have planned their evening around attending, but portraying this as some sort of ongoing scam or pattern of non-delivery is simply inaccurate.
What is also worth noting is that people are generally far more motivated to leave reviews after a disappointment than after a successful night. The vast majority of guests who attend enjoyable events, make matches, or have positive experiences simply carry on with their lives without posting online about it.
We always aim to communicate with customers fairly and resolve issues appropriately, but we also expect reviews to remain factual rather than exaggerated.
