Ridiculous cancellation fees.

We had been relatively happy Dish customers for over 10 years. Endured an ESPN block out and then more recently local channel block outs. I finally had had enough and despite having the same equipment the entire time, was told by customer service that I would owe them over $400 due to recently adding another wireless Joey to the network (about a year ago). The customer service rep kept trying to sell me on better deals to stay and when I refused became irritated at me for not listening to him. Unbelievable. Was paying them $180/month, so switched to Tablo and pay nothing per month. Best choice I made, despite the rip-off on the $400 charge to close out. They won't survive long with this kind of service.

NEVER SIGN UP FOR DISH SERVICE - Dish is a financial drain system on their customers' accounts. I had to cancel my service with 10 months remaining on a contract which became effective due to my service cancellation request in 2025 because of their greedy rate increases that were exorbitant. They promise anything to get you to agree to keep their service even to saying if I needed to cancel before the contract ended, I could cancel without penalty. Well, the representative today stated I would have to pay $200 early cancellation fee. They also charge $50 to mail the boxes to me in order for me to return the hopper & the joey. In addition, we have been without a local channel due to Dish not being able to agree to the cost for them to broadcast CBS. Unfortunate for me, I lost my husband, have recurring health issues, am 83 years old, & live on social security which causes me to have to move to another state to live with my son.

I would rate this Zero

I would rate this Zero. Last night I called twice to order Aew dynasty, they both said the same thing saying it wasn’t showing up on there end, dish is a joke. I’m leaving for good. Ruined my day yesterday not only that I’ve lost multiple channels since last month and still paying when they should make it less per month if they aren’t providing the channels, this is illegal.

They don't suck as bad as 1 star…

They don't suck as bad as 1 star reviews but it's very obvious that customer service reps work on commission. The rep I just spoke with would not stop talking about Boost Mobile benefits after I told her multimes ideas not interested is changing cell phone companies. Listen to you customers!

Worst company ever

The technician took my satellite on top…

The technician took my satellite on top of my motor home apart and then told me it would not work and he did not put it back together so now I have to climb up on the roof and try to put it back together and I am 75 years old

I contacted DISH after seeing their own marketing materials advertising a partnership with Starlink. For rural customers like me in Texas, this is a major development, so I called to confirm availability.
The moment I mentioned Starlink, the representative claimed she “didn’t see that as an option” and immediately put me on hold. When she returned, she repeated the same line and added that Starlink installations are “really expensive anyway.” This was followed by an immediate pivot into an upsell for Viasat — one of DISH’s long‑standing partner companies.
The problem?
I had the DISH website open in front of me, on the exact page that said DISH + Starlink, while being told it didn’t exist.
For anyone who doesn’t speak networking or satellite tech, here’s the part DISH doesn’t explain:
• Viasat and HughesNet use GEO satellites sitting 22,000 miles above Earth.
That distance creates 600–700ms latency, which makes modern internet use — video calls, VPNs, cloud apps, gaming, remote work — borderline unusable. These services also typically involve restrictive data caps and long‑term contracts.
• Starlink uses LEO satellites around 340 miles up.
That’s a 65x shorter distance, resulting in 30–60ms latency and performance that actually supports modern internet usage.
These aren’t opinions.
They’re measurable, physics‑based differences between GEO and LEO satellite systems.
What bothered me wasn’t the rep personally — it was the sales tactic. Instead of acknowledging the service I asked about (which DISH advertises), I was steered toward outdated, high‑latency products that benefit DISH financially but disadvantage the customer.
Rural customers already have limited options. The last thing they need is to be misled or upsold into inferior technology while the better option is downplayed or dismissed.
Transparency should not be optional.

20+ years with Dish Network—and this is how they treat you.

Prices are ridiculous, packages are padded with garbage channels (music loops, shopping junk, filler) just to inflate the numbers, and you get less real content than ever.

Customer service is a nightmare. You can’t get a straight answer, can’t get real help, and you get bounced around to overseas call centers that don’t fix anything.

And no, it’s not just me—look at Trustpilot. Under 2 stars. That’s not a fluke—that’s a pattern.

Then they have the nerve to partner with Starlink—a service that actually works—while their own product keeps getting worse. The irony is unreal.

And if you think you can just cancel? Think again. They make it so difficult it feels like the only way out is to block your credit card.

Honestly, the only thing keeping me from dumping them tomorrow is the lack of a truly solid DVR solution for streaming. The second there’s a reliable replacement, I’m gone.

After two decades of loyalty, Dish Network has completely lost its way. This company has gone downhill—fast. Avoid at all costs.

I have been a Dish Network customer for way too long g.

I have been a Dish Network customer, on and off, for the past 30 years. I left a couple times and tried other similar services but always came back after a short time. Main reason being UHF remote instead of IR remote. I can tell you the Dish DVR is way past it's prime and Dish support is always unable to fix the problems. I also find Dish Anywhere to pause and buffer way too often. Anyway after all this time I canceled Dish. I did find the canceling process to be very painful too. The rep tried way too many times to get me to reconsider and I couldn't understand his broken English all that well.

Highway robbery

Today, I looked at my bill from dish network and originally was like $99. And today I looked and he jumped up 47%. To a hundred and forty six i asked them why they never emailed me to inform me about the rate increase. Didn't get no answer. I was speaking to individual with broken English. I asked to speak to a supervisor. No luck on that i could see a rate increase of like. Maybe 10 to 20%. But 47%, it's freaking highway. Robbery, and it freaking sucks, dish, network need to pull the head out of their ass

I would give zero if I could

I would give zero if I could. We transferred our service when we moved. They couldn’t negotiate our local channels so I went to YouTube tv (absolutely love it) when I went to cancel dish, I was informed when they gave me an updated Joey at our new home I signed up for a two year contract on that Joey! Nothing else. I was never told I was signing for a two year contract on a piece of equipment I rent and would have to be provided (they wouldn’t give me an outdated piece of equipment.) evidently I signed the paper on the installers phone without having any clue what it held as he wasn’t going to go over it. He just said sign off that I installed the equipment. They also drilled multiple holes in my soffit only to realize I had spray foam insulation. The never went in the attic to check. So I now have a wire hanging over my guttering and two holes in my soffit. I had to pay $400 to get out of the so called contract. Horrible horrible company. No customer service. Wait forever to get someone to answer and they say you can disconnect on your account but can’t because they want to convince you to stay.

Dish Network good until you have problems

Dish Network tv was good but expensive. 10 years service, a little over a year ago started having issues with local channels and sports programming. Neighbors did also. Called customer service got the usual unplug your unit to reset it. We have had numerous issues, paid a replacement fee monthly for a service tech to come check or a replacement unit if needed. Dish Network WILL NOT honor that. We have loved the ease of the dvr but the cost and aggravation of dealing with them is not worth it.

We have lost a local channel, which is watched every Sunday, morning, SUNDAY MORNING, EVENING, 3 series that keeps me entertained. I know, it is not due to Dish but if a person is paying and not seeing one channel they enjoy, guess people need to change or go else where. Sorry, people are so money hungry. But that is what this world is about.

I have been a dish customer for around…30 years

I have been a dish customer for around 30 years. I pay the bills via bank online service. Apparently, a recent payment was lost in the mail. I did get an invoice with the previous unpaid payment in there, which I paid in full. In a couple days after, the service was discontinued without a notice of the date it will be interrupted, without any call or notice of the specific date of the discontinue of service. I called and was charged $15 to continue the service for a couple more days until they got the new payment. They did not believe me that the payment was on the way; and that is after 30 years of paying without complaining of their increased fees. They treat their customers terribly.

Stay away from this company

Stay away from this company! if I could give them as a zero star rating,, I would! Bait and switch, non-disclosure, you name it! Maybe not illegal but highly unethical! I disconnected from them and they decided to charge after the fact, in addition to a return box fee that they did not disclose! I cannot warn you enough stay away from them!

This company can’t improve

This company can’t improve on zero customer service and quality. I have been with them 9 years so trust me. They need to shut it down. I was on the phone off and on over 8 hours. I spoke to 11 reps and spoke with someone on chat. They are straight lost. They all repeatedly kept saying what was on the computer screen. Even the chat sounded robotic. I paid my bill and they claim they have no record. My bank and the company I paid it through both have records. This has happened more than once. It was resolved one time. The second time wasn’t resolve and this one wasn’t resolved yet. Instead of a zero balance I owe two payments that have already been paid. All of the customer service reps speak English but have no understanding of it since Dish sources customer service in other countries to save money. They all read the generic computer. If you ever have a problem with paying and you want to stay on the line with them telling you to pay over again and again then I do recommend them. As I told the last rep, stop talking. I am done and will seek services elsewhere.
