Food at its BEST!
I recently tried the Green Herb Dosa at Dosa Chaska, and it is, without a doubt, the best dosa I have ever had. It’s made using high-quality, fresh ingredients, making it not only incredibly delicious but also a healthier choice.
The owner runs the café with genuine passion, care, and dedication, and that shines through in every dish. The quality, freshness, and attention to detail are evident from the very first bite.
The mango lassi and mint lemonade are absolutely outstanding—refreshing, fresh, and packed with flavour. My kids especially loved the chocolate and strawberry dosas, which were both unique and absolutely delicious.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Dosa Chaska to everyone. The owner isn’t just serving food—he’s creating memorable experiences and taking your taste buds on a unique journey with every dish. It’s a place you’ll want to visit again and again.
Fabulous authentic Indian street food
Fabulous authentic Indian street food. After spending a recent holiday in India i had yo try this and was not disappointed. Great service fully explained menu and delicious food. Would highly recommend
Disappointingly unauthentic
Visited the Cockermouth outlet. Ordered a couple of CLASSIC DOSA’s. Pancake consistency was almost classic, although a bit raw, but filling was definitely not authentic, and no accompaniments like sambar which is absolutely required for any authentic South Indian dosa. And melted cheese coating the inside of the folded dosa….. yuk!. This is at best a bastardised product obviously designed to appeal to what the purveyors believe are “British tastes”. Wise up- make it as it should be and you will get a lot more customers.

Fast food - Super tasty & not ultra-processed
My family visited Dosa Chaska on Saturday, opening day, in Cockermouth, Cumbria. The food was out of this world. Fast food that’s not ultra-processed and is full of amazing ingredients and taste, and made with such care and love.
The team's knowledge about quality food and gut health was amazing. Equally inspiring are the company's values and their impact on social well-being and community. They truly are building something special.
I ate my food, then joined the curry club and booked a workshop so that I can pick up some of the blending tips, have some fun and continue to eat food that is amazing and healthy ☺️
Amazing Experience
An amazing experience at their community feast (Oota). Each part of the feast was full of flavour with food I have never tasted or experienced before. The dances, the sitar and cultural celebration was amazing to watch.
Generous, humble hosts
Integrating community, food as medicine and well-being, is a fantastic concept; and to top it off the food is delicious and authentic, and Dosa Chaska, humble, generous hosts.

I had an amazing food , culture music and dance experience 🤗🥣🥘🥰.
Eating off banana leaves was an experience.
I truly wish you all well for the future and I can't wait for my next culinary experience.
I would also like to thank you all for the attention and advise given re my food allergies.
A wonderful experience.
A wonderful experience right in the heart of Whitehaven. The friendly Dosa Chaska team brought together members of the community to experience dance, music, dress and to taste many delicious examples of Indian food. We learned about Dosa Chaska’s commitment to sourcing local fresh vegetables and eco friendly materials and about their vision to encourage healthy eating, healthy living, well being and cultural learning at the new hub at Haig Pit. It was good to hear that in response to continued local demand for tasty Indian street food from the travelling food hut, Dosa Chaska will be opening a regular source of delicious Indian street food at the new premises in Cockermouth.
Thankyou to all involved.
Dosa Chaska Banana Leaf Feast
Attended the Dosa Social Dining event on Sunday last. Over 160 people dined at communal tables and enjoyed live Sitar and traditional dance. What a lovely experience..we were welcomed warmly, and enjoyed delicious and health giving foods served on a banana leaf by the Dosa Team who exuded warmth, graciousness and joy throughout. Their pleasure in creating this huge event was palpable and it engendered an atmosphere of joy and delight. At our long table, people who were strangers mingled, had lovely conversations, laughed and enjoyed the food. We left feeling replenished and restored. What an excellent way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Banana Leaf Feast - delicious food and a social, immersive experience
It was amazing experiencing different cultures and cuisine right here in Whitehaven. I am a pescatarian so it was nice knowing that everything that would be served to us would be vegetarian. Everyone I spoke to was lovely and helpful and the event was a blast. Definitely need to do another one soon! The dancing and live music really added to the immersive experience!
Disappointing “Community” event
We attended this event as a group, expecting a welcoming community celebration centred around food, music, and cultural exchange. Unfortunately, we all left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable.
The event was poorly organised from start to finish. Tickets were priced at £25 and presented as discounted from £35, which set expectations for a well run experience including food, live music, traditional Indian dance, and complimentary treats. On arrival, it was clear that some attendees had been given complimentary tickets. This created an immediate sense of imbalance at an event marketed as “community focused.”
After purchasing tickets, we were surprised to receive messages asking attendees to volunteer to serve food and assist with cleaning. This was not disclosed at the point of booking and felt inappropriate.
The venue was unsuitable, very cold, with acoustics so poor that it was difficult to hear speeches, videos or performances. Despite this, a significant portion of the event focused on appeals for donations and funding, particularly from local businesses, which overshadowed the celebratory intent.
One of the most concerning aspects was the behaviour of a member of the event team (white shirt & bindi). His manner throughout was sullen and confrontational, particularly towards our group. During speeches and dance performances, he held loud conversations at the back of the room, further disrupting proceedings. When serving food, his conduct was careless and dismissive, with food splattered onto banana leaves and, in some cases, onto people’s clothing. When asked what was being served, responses were abrupt and at times rude, including a remark suggesting that asking questions was not part of “this culture” which felt entirely at odds with the event’s stated aim of inclusivity.
The cultural performances felt under rehearsed and loosely organised, involving a mix of organisers, local participants, and teens without much cohesion. The sitar performance was genuinely enjoyable and was the clear highlight of the afternoon.
Photography took place throughout the event without this being clearly disclosed at the time of booking or afterward and attendees were not given the option to opt out. We would be disappointed if images of us were used for promotional or social media purposes without consent.
Food was served cold due to the awkward table layout and disorganised service. Attendees were not informed what dishes were being served, and desserts were placed directly onto savoury food, which was unappealing.
Finally, we feel it’s worth noting that recent reviews are not unprompted as suggested by Trustpilot. All attendees (160 people) have received a WhatsApp message after the event asking us to leave a review on this platform. While feedback is of course reasonable to request, the timing is uncomfortable, particularly in the context of the business’s current nomination for a local food award.
Overall, the event took nearly four hours of a Sunday afternoon and left us feeling misled and excluded. Rather than bringing the community together, the experience had the opposite effect. We hope future events are approached with greater transparency, care, and respect for attendees and funders.

A Unique and Memorable Indian Banana Leaf Dining Experience in West Cumbria
We had an excellent experience enjoying Indian banana leaf meals in West Cumbria. The food was absolutely gorgeous—full of flavour, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared to cater for all special dietary requirements.
What made the day truly unique was the opportunity to watch traditional Indian dancing and listen to live Indian music while dining. It created a wonderful atmosphere and made the whole experience feel immersive and memorable.
We thoroughly enjoyed the day and would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for something different and culturally enriching.
The Banana leaf experience
The Banana leaf experience was incredible. It was so heartwarming to be part of Dosa Chaska first event of this size it was a true celebration. The food was incredible and the people were so welcoming.

A great Indian cultural experience! We had excellent food, terrific dancing and great music from an excellent band (with a sitar player!).
Good company in a relaxed atmosphere too. The owners are such nice & friendly people.
The food was tasty and authentic Indian cuisine served in an authentic style on a banana leaf. Some really good new flavours for me.
My wife really enjoyed learning some Bollywood moves too.
