Kara put together an excellent itinerary covering diverse parts of Jordan and organised everything for us in a low key way so that we could take our time and do what we wanted with just enough support to get us from one place to the next in comfort. Highly recommended

We were a group of 4 women off to explore Jordan.
The trip was well organised by Carly and Kara.
We were met in Jordan by our Bedouin guide, the wonderful Mohamoud, he was so knowledgeable about the country, the trek, the fauna and flora.
We felt safe and looked after.
For 4 days we wondered through beautiful scenery in the desert, up and down passes, and each evening the camp was set up by Salomon and Mose.
Camp fire, delicious food, and stories under the stars was our treat after a long day walking in the sun.
We even had a portable shower, it was basic but very welcome.
Mahmoud took us to his native Petra, where we spend 3 days discovering this incredible place.
And finished by a visit to the Dead Sea.
I can truly recommend this amazing trip!

I travelled to Syria in 2011 with Carly and it was a fantastic trip. Carly knows the country well and her expertise made the trip so much more enjoyable. She was able to provide a truly immersive experience that didn't feel like being a part of a tour group. My tour with Carly helped show me the beauty of Syria and of its people, and I would highly recommend her to anyone.

It was an amazing and fascinating tour of Syria. It was a good itinerary which was well managed and run. We had an excellent local guide who was knowledgeable about history, archaeology, tradition of Syria. It was interesting to visit Palmyra Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Maaloula and Damascus. Syrians are friendly and welcoming. An enjoyable and educational experience.

Carly and Kara organised my trip from Berlin, through Syria and onto Jordan without a hitch.
I was picked up from my hotel in Beruit on top and helped all the way through the border, getting a visa and through customs with professionalism second to none. The only thing I had to do was be prepared to wait.
Travelling through Syria was an eye opener. I can’t put into words how I felt. Sorrow and hopeful. Aleppo and a visit to the Hotel Baron was one of the highlights. Try to get an audience with the owner but be ready for a grilling.
It was not just a Paul on the road to Damascus experience but it was an experience.
Getting out and into Jordan made me question as to why I get angry sitting in traffic on the M25. This was standing around for two hours, car emptied and x rayed.
My wife joined me in Jordan. Petra was amazing, the night in Wadi Rum was amazing, but after Syria it was too busy and too easy! I had a couple of small issues in Jordan and Kara sorted them out straight away.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Down to Earth, and have done.
A great company and Carly, Kara and all the guides I had across the three companies were immense.
