I never thought I would ever need to file for bankruptcy. I always thought of it as a type of weakness or failure, in a sense. I mean come on, dealing with and managing money wasn't rocket science. Credit cards, cash stores and massive loans weren't THAT bad. Besides, I was young and enjoying life, educated and successful....I'd pay it off, eventually. I'd figure it out.  It'll never happen to me.

But it did and there I was. Sitting in a truck I couldn't afford, drowning in debt, dodging calls from creditors, newly single and absolutely terrified. Crying my eyes out in the driver's seat, I googled 'how to get out of debt'. First on the list; Doyle Salewski. I clicked the website link, and the rest is history...

I was officially discharged and became debt free as of 29 May 2020. It has been a very long time since I've been able to breathe deeply and sleep without worry. I owe a lot to the team at Doyle Salewski (Ottawa). I owe even more to Beatrice Michelli who has been so incredible, patient and understanding. She has been my guiding light, my mentor and constant reassurance that everything was going to be okay. I remember meeting Beatrice for the first time. She was so calm and she smiled at me with warm eyes and said, 'Hi Jenn, I'm Beatrice. Everything will be okay, I promise.' And a couple years later, everything is perfect. I've paid off my bankruptcy, I got rid of the truck I couldn't afford, I have money in the bank and I've recently been approved for a credit card through Capital One. I have Doyle Salewski to thank for all that :)

Filing for bankruptcy or a consumer proposal is NOT weak. And it's NOT a failure. It's a chance to start again after making some bad choices. The best decision I ever made was to call Doyle Salewski. They were never judgemental. They were never rude. They only ever treated me with the upmost respect and care and worked with me, not only for me, throughout the duration of my bankruptcy. I always felt comfortable in the office and always knew I could call or see Beatrice any time, if I ever had any questions or concerns. It's not an easy process, as you are faced point blank with your debts and total amounts owing. But your insolvency representative will walk you through it and help you along the way. And the end result is absolutely worth it :)

Doyle Salewski really knows how to handle delicate situations like a person's debt and all the emotions that go along with it. You don't feel any stress or anxiety walking into their office. You only have a feeling of relief that the people there know what to do and how to help.

I would absolutely recommend Doyle Salewski if you're in debt. They are amazing and work miracles.

Beatrice, I am forever grateful for everything you've done for me. The goodbye is bittersweet of course, but I'm off to do great things!
