I had been with this doctor many years
I had been with this doctor many years, but a few years ago the management changed. I became ill with a mystery illness that could not easily be identified by blood tests, x rays, scans etc, things doctors tend to rely on and can be sure of. For years there were different versions flying around of what the problem was while I continued to struggle with a lot of pain and nausea, barely able to do anything or leave the house. I had been put on lorazepam at the start and it had helped me to sleep. Then a few years later I told the doctor I wanted to come off lorazepam (it was a small dose, just 2 ml a day) and be put on something else which is not addictive but helps in the same way. The doctor lost his temper with me and accused me of having under hand reasons for asking for lorazepam (I had never asked for it, it had been prescribed for me by the doctor and his choice and I was now asking to change it). The doctor said the police had been to see him recently about someone selling lorezepam on the pier and gave me a nasty, dirty accusing look and said he does not want such problems at his surgery. I left thinking he had had a bad day and was taking it out on me. The following day I received a letter from him stating I had been struck off of his list because of my interests in lorazepam! My husband and I could not stop laughing. BECAUSE -I struggle to go out and need him with me just to walk a little bit. I am nearly 70. The pain and nausea made it impossible for me to do normal things... and I am a wealthy lady who owns successful businesses, probably earn a lot more than the doctor. Hardly the sort who would be risking courts, prison, appearing in local newspaper and breaking the law for a few pounds. It turns out he did me a favour. I changed to a different doctors and they are far better.
