Scammers and fraudsters. Such companies should be closed forever! We returned car clear as it was taken without scratches. Then they showed old photos, that car is damaged. Its good that insurance company had all the history, so they realized that photos europcar sent was with broken glass while we return with non broken. Got them! They are not just scammers, but they are stupid as well. Avoid that company.

Avis takes out the gold this time with a much cheaper car rental, a price match and better policy, wider acceptance of cash as a payment method, no penalty for returning your vehicle early and a more flexible additional driver policy, which allows partners and employers to be added for free.
This outlet does not accept all credit cars. You cant use your debt card or cash as a deposit. Even though you paid for your car online or through an agency there is a good chance you will not receive your vehicle. And end up loosing you money

Absolutely disgusted with the service. Even though we booked and payed through bookings.com they said still wanted a credit card!
Would not except my Visa or cash so no car!
Payed for vehicle three days and now they probably have double rented it out to someone else.
Crooks, don't book from these people. They women who dealt with me was very rude and unhelpful. The other person who works there was on his mobile phone the whole time.

Unwetter auf Kreta, Flug wurde umgeleitet und mit einem Tag Verspätung dann vorm Schalter gestanden um zu erfahren das ich gefälligst die AGBs lesen solle in denen steht das damit die Reservierung hinfällig ist.
Selbstverständlich war die Rechnung für die Mietdauer im Voraus bezahlt.

Actually they were surprising pleasant and professional when they discovered a small scratch. Yes, they charged me the corporate rate of EUR 281 for a 3 cm scratch (which probably won't get fixed). But ... they were very pleasant and professional about it and checked previous hire docs to check it was really a new scratch. And they made sure I had the right docs to claim from my excess insurance. So, in the circumstances, good job by the people on the desk.

I also had a bad, unprofessional experience at europcar athens airport.
1 month prior to my Athens trip i booked a car from europcar.
I have an international driving issued in a eu country and rented cars from several European cities with this document. Europcar athens airport refused to give me my reservation which I had already paid with the excuse of "our online system doesn't recognise your driving licence card". they didn't help at all, I had to change all my plans and finally rent from avis with the same driving license card and with no problem.
At the same time they did rentals manually, with other customers, but not with me.
Probably they did not organise my prepaid rental and run out of small cars and they didn't want to give bigger car with the same price as they were obliged to do.
Useless Not capable to manage small problems. Tell lies and be totally unprofessional. They are unacceptable, their mistake cost me and they didnt care at all..

Is a company to avoid. sooooo bad !!!!!

Purtroppo anche la mia esperienza con la Europcar è stata disastrosa e dopo avermi fatto pagare di più di quanto pattuito senza avere noleggiato nemmeno l'auto esattamente scelta, ora si tengono in ostaggio i soldi della caparra dalla carta di credito... Inoltre non rispondono alle email e gli unici contatti telefonici sono numerazioni a pagamento! Ladri...

I wish I hade read these reviews before renting. Rented a car from Europecar Naxos - which actually uses another company. Pick up at the airport - good look finding the person. After great difficulty connecting with there office (I had no cell service) I was told look for the guy in the white shirt in the corner. So helpful.

The contract they ask you to sign is all done on your phone, it is impossible to verify the contact looking the tiny screen I did not request the CDW but was charged for it anyways (be aware it has an 800 Euro deductible). Returned the car and noticed someone had left a mark on the car that I did not see while I still had the car.

Because they sold me their insurance when I declined it my own insurance would not cover me. Europcar would not admit they charged me the wrong amount on a contract that was impossible to review at the time of signing. They blame Expedia. Leaves me stuck in the middle of the blame game and with a 300 Euro bill for damage they will surely not repair.

Bonjour je confirme une très mauvaise expérience avec Europcar en Grèce: pble pour récupérer la voiture à l'aéroport (ma carte de crédit n'était soit disant pas suffisante....alors que j'ai effectué tous mes paiements avec pendant 3 semaines !!) puis le pompon à la dépose où une légère rayure que j'ai spontanément déclarée m'a coûté...285E...j'ai refusé de payer directement, résultat = appel de la police...ma femme a calmé l'affaire car elle a payé les 300€...bref fin de séjour complètement gâché, PLUS JAMAIS EUROPCAR en Grèce ou ailleurs !! Pour être complet la Toyota Corrolla fonctionnait parfaitement, mais que de manque de service client !

Europcar refused to give me my reservation
2 weeks prior to my Athens trip i booked a car from europcars site .. i gave my information along with a debit card in my name. A confirmation email was sent. When i went to the airport they told me that i cannot get the car because i have a debit card and not a credit card. I explained that their site accepted my card and that the confirmation email was stating that the card can be credit OR debit! It just had to be on my name. They told me that it doesnt matter and they wouldnt let me rent a car. The problem was that they had to hold 290 euros from card as security.. i asked them to give that amount in cash and they still refused. Long story short .. i was forced to rent from another company, without having the opportunity to find the best deal for me( since i was there and i needed the car immediately) and i ended up paying 150 euros above my budget for car rental (4 days).

They are unacceptable, their mistake cost me and they didnt care at all.. they even did not accept my offer to pay them the security in cash!

Alla riconsegna della macchina una Fiat 500 cabrio, il “signore” mi ha, senza la mia approvazione, addebitato il costo di una presunta riparazione del sotto paraurti, per presunti graffi, visibili solo toccandoli con le mani, infilando perciò la mano sotto il paraurti. Il “signore” ha preteso di addebitarmi circa 400 euro per danni inesistenti, probabilmente ha visto che avevo un assicurazione che copre qualsiasi danno e ha approfittato della situazione, pensando di avere gioco facile. Purtroppo ha incontrato me, dopo essermi parecchio alterato, gli ho dato del “ladro” e del “truffatore” al pari della compagnia che mette persone del genere a gestire uffici in luoghi così piacevoli. Dispiace trovarsi di fronte a soggetti che per arrotondare in modo molto disonesto, sono disposti a tutto. Pessima esperienza. Mai più Europecar. Ho affittato auto in molti paesi. Mai trovato gente così. Fate attenzione anche se in certi casi è quasi impossibile difendersi. Unica soluzione, stare alla larga da Europcar. Bertocchi Pierluigi

Europcar at Athens airport is the worst experience we have ever had when it comes to renting a car.
The booking confirmation states "If your flight is delayed we will hold your car until the office closes". When we found out before departure that our flight would be delayed, we called the pick-up office to let them know and to make sure that the car would actually be there when we landed. They thanked us for the information and replied that they will hold the car for five hours after the designated pick-up time.

We arrived late in the evening, at 10.30pm, to pick up the car. The flight was only an hour late. However, Europcar refused to give us a car, claiming that their booking system had mistakenly checked us out.

The staff behind the desk are extremely unhelpful. As is their manager, who is unable to do more than utter platitudes that "he's listening". After more than an hour of persuasion, they finally managed to get a car. Then the next problem arose: they wouldn't accept the Mastercard used to make the booking. We again referred to the booking confirmation, which states that the customer should use the same card used for the booking when picking up the car.
However, the staff were adamant, and we ended up at midnight and after a full day of travelling with two children, without a car at Athens airport.

The behaviour of the Europcar staff at Athens airport seems to be entirely in line with the company's policy. Read the reviews of Europcar on Trustilot and elsewhere at the internet. Then rent your car from a reputable company.

Europcar is a sham, a rogue company with business practices so arrogant, unethical and illegal that they are detrimental not only to customers but also to Europcar itself. It is thus a company operating in a state of institutional stupidity.

Wir hatten für 10 Tage einen Hyundai i20 auf Korfu gebucht. Die Übergabe erfolgte direkt am Flughafen, der Parkplatz war ca. 5 min zu Fuß entfernt. Auto war vielleicht 1-2 Jahre alt, unter 20.000 km gefahren. Sah im Vergleich zu vielen anderen griechischen Autos super aus. Wir haben sehr penibel alle kleinen Kratzer dokumentiert und hatten keinerlei Probleme bei der Rückgabe.
Ein Stern Abzug dafür, dass ich bei der Rückgabe extra Nachfragen musste eine Bestätigung sowohl für die Rückgabe, als auch dafür, dass das Fahrzeug unbeschädigt war, zu bekommen. Das sollte wohl selbstverständlich sein! Möglicherweise wird hier versucht bei unvorsichtigen Kunden im Nachhinein noch was drehen zu können. Also seid kleinlich und besteht auf eine gute Dokumentation, dann klappt alles ohne Probleme!

Read the ratings before renting a car, and DO NOT RENT A CAR from this company! Stay away from it! Big, big joke!

Véhicule neuf, prise en charge rapide du véhicule à Athènes, bonne communication et restitution également rapide. Sérieux et fiable, what else ?

Gebucht bei check24. Nebensaison Febr./März. Entgegen Beschreibung bei check24 Station etwa 3km ausserhalb. Shuttleservice hat bei uns funktioniert. Schnelle Abwicklung, (freundliches) Personal war reichlich da. Toyota mit 4.500km. Ich buche immer mit besserem Versicherungsschutz (Premiumschutz). Kostet, wenn überhaupt, geringfügig mehr. Prepaid Visa kein Problem.

We rented a car at Europcar in Heraklion airport for a week and returned the car on Oct 30th without a scratch. Got the signed inspection form to prove it. Since then I am waiting for the 290 euro deposit to be returned on my visa card. I phoned twice and twice I was assured it would come. The first time I was told it would take 5-7 business days. So no worries. The second time I was told the deposit was just released the day before (!) and would be in my account between 7-10 business days. So now it is three weeks later and still no returned deposit. I did notice something funny. At all previous times I rented a car the deposit registered as a pre-authorization in my statement. This time was different it was a real charge. Since the monthly cut-off date has passed already, I will have to pay 290 euro extra this month.
Bummer. We will not rent from Europcar Greece again.

OK, I phoned the head office of Europcar Greece in Athens. After almost two months the deposit was finally returned.

Like others on here, I had an appalling experience when I hired a car through Europcar in Kefalonia. I was charged 250 euros for a tiny scratch on the bumper, which I hadn't even noticed. The manager even admitted to me that a) it would cost about a fifth of that to smooth out in a garage, b) that they weren't going to bother fixing it before renting it out again c) would charge the next customer another 250 euros if there was a similar size scratch on the SAME bumper!
This is proves that Europcar are out to scam customers. This is unethical and wrong.
Do not use them.

Null Sterne für diese Europcar Filiale in Hersonissos, Auto vor Monaten bei Check 24 gebucht und reserviert und bezahlt, und nicht bekommen ! Ich solle mir ein Auto in der gleichen Ausstattung suchen, aber ohne Versicherung, da bei Check24 der Vertrag gesplittet ist, einmal für das Auto, und einmal für den Versicherungsschutz. Mich haben alle Händler ausgelacht, wie ich ein Auto ohne Versicherung mieten wollte !
Tatsache ist momentan der hohen Nachfrage geschuldet, ich habe mein Auto in Corona Zeiten billig gebucht, jetzt werden diese um das doppelte oder dreifache auf der Straße gehandelt, das hat System, hat mir eine Autoverleiherin berichtet, wenn ich zu Hause bin werde ich Anzeige erstatten, aber über einen Anwalt ! Sowas darf man sich nicht bieten lassen! Hände weg von solchen Firmen !
