I signed up for a trial account, but there was no clear indication on the page that I needed to pay for the trial quota. After generating a few images, I was notified that I could no longer use the service. The following month, I received an invoice via email: Invoice No. UVKMYD-00001. This constitutes fraud, so I refuse to pay and request that Fal cancel this invoice.
C'est une arnaque ! j'y ai déposé un crédit de 10$ pour tester la génération d'une video a partir d'une image afin de comparer 8 modèles différents. Le résultat a été sans appel : il ne me reste plus que 1.3$ de disponible !

scammers, I signed up and paid for $20 of credit and it was never added to my balance. They replied to me once asking for evidence which I sent and after that they ignored all my emails after.

After purchasing credits using cryptocurrency through Stripe on their platform, I discovered some API compatibility issues with Open WebUI. I contacted fal.ai support via email within the same hour, requesting either technical assistance or a refund. They promptly confirmed the refund, removed my credits, and stated that the money would be returned within 10 days. However, it has now been 15 days with no response to my follow-up inquiries. The lack of communication and transparency from their support team has been deeply disappointing.

They claimed refunding me, I just checked wallet nothing there checked card/bank and nothing there, maybe they returned it to account credit... nope nothing there either...

We had our API key compromised, resulting in ~$400 in unauthorized charges over one week (unauthorized Seedream model calls — not our usage). We immediately revoked the key and removed our payment method. Fal.ai support refused any refund, stating API key security is solely the account owner's responsibility. No investigation, no IP logs shared, no goodwill gesture. For a platform handling billing in the hundreds of dollars, the complete lack of fraud protection or even willingness to investigate is unacceptable. We've moved our business elsewhere and cannot recommend fal.ai to our clients.

Their pricing is outrageous. There are other good services that charge a low flat rate per video (e.g. $0.10 per video).

For what I know so far: CROOKS!
I used their video understanding model and in the billing they increased the billed seconds 10 fold.
I send them an email and 10 hours later, no response. Buggy site, lauzy support.

For video understanding, billing is based on input video length, not generation time.
Each 5 seconds = 1 billable unit ($0.01).
In your case:
The ~28s you saw was processing time
The charge reflects the full input video length, which totaled 214 units (~$2.14–$2.40)
