I’m really lost for words. We visited at 1.00pm on a Wednesday afternoon and immediately noticed how unusually quiet it was. There were no bar staff visible, so after walking cagily past a HUGE Rottweiler, we patiently waited at the bar for what seemed like five minutes or more. Eventually, somebody popped up from the seats behind us and said, “What can I get you?”

Really??? How about next time you immediately acknowledge your customers and say, “I’ll be with you in a second”? Or, even better, seeing as there were two members of staff perched there working, perhaps pack up your laptops and go work somewhere a little more private.

Personally, at that point I would have walked out, but in our infinite wisdom, we decided to grab a table and order some food.

Surprisingly, they were completely out of all the steaks, so I ordered the lamb skewer with pineapple and mango slaw, a mayo dip, flatbread and a side order of chips.

The lamb skewer was actually quite nice. Unfortunately, the slaw didn’t look particularly fresh, the flatbread was awful — dry, chewy and with all the texture of cardboard — while the chips arrived as a rather sad-looking portion of bottom-of-the-barrel fries.

From being seated to receiving our meals took around 35 minutes, so that wasn’t too bad. However, ordering a second drink seemed to take forever to arrive.
In summary

The welcoming committee was poor, the customer service was average, the food was disappointing, and the atmosphere was distinctly subdued.

On a positive note, the waitress who served us was very pleasant and attentive — probably the one saving grace of the visit.

Would I return? Probably not.

The food was outstanding. The best fish and chips and peas we have ever eaten.
All three of us loved it.
Harry the waiter was so friendly and so experienced and helpful . The George and Dragon must be so lucky to have employed him.

We have not been here for a few months now but our visit tonight was awful. My god the difference was mind blowing.
The staff were only interested is serving the locals. We were shown into the restaurant, the carpet was full of ground in food. I even took photos as this was a health hazard.
Staff left us for very long periods of time, and were very curt, and had no knowledge of the food.
The food quality was very average. The staff were only interested in serving drinks. I actually thought I had walked into you have been framed!
I would not recommend anyone come here due to the filthy floor(god knows what the kitchen is like) the service or the staff.

Five of us went for lunch on Tuesday and enjoyed our meal. Two of us had the lemon sole which was recommended by waitress Nina. They were very large, beautifully cooked and delicious. Good deserts and drinks. Our waitress Nina added to our enjoyable lunch date with attentive service.

Great service and food. Clean and inviting. Really nice visit. Easy to park and great play area for the little ones. Would highly recommend.

Avoid this place! Shocking service and left disgusted by the rude, unacceptable, unprofessional, behaviour from Manager Laila! We had been visiting this restaurant for years but today was definitely the last -we won't be returning. Ths Manager Laila was aggressive, rude, dismissive from the moment we walked in. This was also commented on by other tables who noticed her shocking behaviour towards us which was for no valid reason. Members of staff were also very uncomfortable having witnessed Laila's unacceptable behaviour and apologised to us on our way out. This experience was deeply offensive and felt racist - incredibly shocking and I hope the appropriate action is taken here. Avoid this restaurant.

The George n Dragon Mountnessing this should have been 9 of us all family with some young children ..we were all made to feel very welcome the staff and service were impeccable the food was fantastic

Good customer service ,food was very goid arrived without a long wait ,hot and very tasty , fish chips oeas ,2x Cumberland sausage ,mash trimmings, desserts crumble of the day ice cream , very happy with everything ,and considering newly taken over few weeks ago and needed a total kichen refurbishment before they could start food well done ,staff michelle in wacky warehouse part superb customer service yes we visit again n restaurant staff thankyou for the take out box for my young grandson dosnt always eat his food with his autism n offered would you like us to box his meal up very appreciated

Bar staff are very attractive. The shows are always top 👌 very clean and safe place to enjoy your night .

Beyond poor service and inconsiderate. Parked a lartic lorry at the exit in 21c heat. I had a baby in the car and the driver refused to move it. I was informed i would have to wait 30 mins to leave.
I was asked to see the manager who had the same poor customer service skills.
Absolutely disgusting service and morals of a Pub. I will also writing a formal complaint to health and safety standard due to having no emergency from the car park as the lorry is blocking it.

Called in for lunch the place was empty no apostrophe serice was excellent the young man who served us was lovely sorry did not get his name food was ok bet portions rather small this pub looks tired and needs uplifting we was in over an hour sunday lunch and it was empty so something is wrong its in an excellent little place with great play area for children even the outside looks tired one sad umbrella overgrown grass all very sad

We had a lovely meal Nina and the staff made the visit memorable with great service.

We have been to the George And Dragon Epping for lunch many times, and our latest visit continued to confirm the excellent service, food and lovely staff, all in a nice relaxed environment. Nina our waitress was lovely and professional as ever. The choice of food on the menu's is varied and comprehensive. The quality always excellent. Thanks again George And Dragon.

£9.95 for a white wine spritzer!! I was daft enough to let my partner order my drink with my credit card so only discovered later how much was charged. Never known any bar staff to put the soda in first either. Far too expensive- very diluted. Had contemplated having meal at this place. Won’t now !

I can't fault the website for being easy to use, useful and well designed. Pity the pub is a little shabby compared to the sheen of the site!
