This is by far one of the worst ferry companies I have ever experienced. No wonder there were a lot of one star reviews. I booked two ferry tickets from their company from Ferryhopper (which I regret, if anyone plans to travel by ferry I recommend blue star ferry, definitely the best, always arrive on time and Golden Star Ferry was the only ferry company that I truly had a huge problem with.) We waited for almost an hour and there was no sign of their ferry, because of this we have to board another company's ferry (since we have a tight schedule we cannot afford to wait too long) Every other ferry companies all arrived on time and the weather was amazing. (Like it was Greece it should be sunny and good) There is literally no actual reason for delay. Later I tried emailing them for a refund, and all they did was tell me to discuss this with Ferryhopper. They failed to explain why there was a delay, why they couldn't tell me if there will be a delay and the cause (no warning), and give any useful information. When I email back my concern they will never reply anymore. I had to email again and they still gave me the same response. And no, this wasn't some AI chatbot, they were real people, so they just copied and pasted the response from the previous email and basically gave me the same package. Anyway, to summarize, this company is trash and go get ferry tickets from someone better like blue star ferries.

We were already close to the Rafina port, swimming at the beach when we noticed in VERY SMALL letters that you SHOULD be at the port 1 hour before departure, we were already too late for that but made hurry to get there. When we got there the boat wasn't even there and we had to wait another half hour. The original departure time was delayed as well and we got the info trough sms and email but it did not make me certain that the boat would even be there.

Eventually we got on the boat en everything with the tickets was fine, there is no upper deck which we didn't know but would also have liked.

They were good until I had to fight with them for a ferry that they cancelled. They're responsive when they want to be, but that's it. They also will delay your ferry with no explanation and just not follow instructions when you ask for one person's ticket on a booking to be cancelled but to keep the other one. Just ridiculous, avoid them if you can

I had an outstanding experience traveling with Golden Star Ferries. From boarding to arrival, everything was exceptionally well organized. The ship was modern, spotless, and very comfortable, making the journey both relaxing and enjoyable.

The crew was professional, friendly, and always willing to help with a smile. The departure and arrival were perfectly on time, which made the entire trip stress-free and efficient.

Overall, the service exceeded my expectations in every way. I highly recommend Golden Star Ferries to anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and high-quality ferry experience. I will definitely choose them again for my future trips!

I chose Golden Star Ferries for my trips between the Greek islands this summer, and I couldn't be happier with the service I received.

I encountered a couple of issues: I accidentally booked the wrong dates, and later I had to cancel a trip due to delays caused by adverse weather conditions. On both occasions, the customer service team responded promptly and professionally via email.

I was very satisfied with the solutions they provided each time, and they exceeded my expectations. The ferry itself was spacious and comfortable.

I would highly recommend travelling with Golden Star Ferries.

Goldenstar Ferries cancel very short notice our ferry from Naxos to Mykonos.
We received message at 17:00 and our ferry was 09:50 AM next day.

We tried to call Goldenstar Ferries 7 times but everytime someone opened the Phone and closed immediately so couldn't reach anyone for getting information extra on how should proceed(should we Get refund and need to arrange our ferry by ourselves.. Or should need the golden ferry need to arrange our ferries by contacting them etc) no guidance...

After all, we decided to buy our own tickets on our pocket but the Goldenstar will not refund immediately due to bank holdings...so we are always on disadvantage position..

Its too short notice for cancelling ferries.. And no guidance accordingly.. Bad customer experience and likely will not book another from here.

I booked a ferry trip from Mykonos to Rafina with Golden Star Ferries in August 2025. Due to a storm, ferry services were cancelled from early in the morning. However, I was not informed in time. No email was sent, and their mobile notification system apparently could not send text messages to foreign country codes.

We arrived at the port at around 5 p.m. and only then found out that the ferry had been cancelled until the next day. As a result, we lost our onward accommodation and other bookings. We also had to find a hotel on Mykonos at very short notice and ended up paying a very high price for a room.

Golden Star Ferries only provided a ticket for the following day on a slower ferry. They refused to cover any of the additional costs caused by the lack of timely communication.

We filed a complaint with the European Consumer Centre Greece. More than four months later, Golden Star Ferries finally responded, but again rejected any further compensation.

Very disappointing customer service. In my opinion, passengers should be informed properly and in time, especially when cancellations are known hours before departure.

They delayed our ferry more than 20 hours without any information or support. We were only told there is a weather concern by the cafe owner, no one from golden star ferries ever made contact with us. Every time we spoke to a representative at the office they yelled at us saying it was leaving soon. We were given no water, food or shelter and lost a full nights accommodation. We could have caught a flight if they did not provide us false and incorrect information. They are now refusing to provide any compensation for leaving us stranded at the port for over 20 hours. An absolute disgrace. Do not, I repeat DO NOT GO WITH THEM.

During my recent visit to the store on board the Andros Queen, I encountered unacceptable behavior from one of the store employees. The employee was extremely slow in attending to customers and was engaged in personal conversations while others were left waiting. When I politely asked her if there was a mirror in the shop (I wanted to try some clothes on), she rudely responded by telling me to wait and continued her irrelevant conversation with a man who was in the store.

Of all the ferry companies in Greece, I find Golden Star to be the best. Their ships are much more comfortable, larger and (from my experiences only) have had plenty of room to stretch out and be comfortable. Fares are affordable, staff are friendly and the operation both punctual and efficient too.

DO NOT USE FERRY SCANNER OR GOLDEN STAR FERRIES.

I booked a Ferry with them a month in advance from Rafina to Tinos.

I arrived to catch the ferry, and was informed they had changed the departure to Lavrios port an hour away.

I had to pay €55 euros in taxi, and naturally missed the ferry which was leaving at the same departure time. Then had to pay €70 euros to travel with a different company.

I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY EMAIL INFORMING ME OF THE CHANGE FROM EITHER FERRY SCANNER OR GOLDEN STAR FERRIES.

Neither company are accepting any responsibility and are refusing to cover any costs or refund the ticket that I was not able to travel on, as they changed last minute.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS

We'd booked on the web a trip Mykonos/Rafina. Everything was alright and we arrived at time.

After a terrible cancellation experience with SeaJets, Golden Star stepped in and did what they were meant to. Got us on the boat, to our destination and off again, with as little hassle as possible.
Same on the journey back.
