This is the absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with. Two years ago we paid $60,000 for an RV. There was a warranty recall and we have waited a year and a half and it still isn’t fixed. Their cu... Toon meer

Frame Cracks, Floor Gaps, Excessive Sway
They'll make you as the consumer, jump through hoops to fix the problems with their units. Calling any idea they have "suggestions" so they can weasel out of coverage of anything done to your unit per their "suggestions"
Even if you show them proof of the issues (video, written documentation, multiple witnesses, etc.) and show that the parts they've installed are out of specification - they'll assume no liability leaving you with the bills and an unsafe expensive camper because they choose not to fix it. They'll try to bully you into submission when you stand up to them as well, I've found and anytime they have information that hurts their case further they will call you rather than continue in email correspondence so they can try to lose the paper trails. They'll also tell you that people with 30+ years' experience don't supersede their techs who claim nothing is wrong when they've proven time and time again their products are failing. They'll also blame you - your experience, tow vehicles, hitch(es), everything they can to push blame from their units.
In my case the trailers axles were installed 5" out of spec in terms of front to rear positioning, and also have a 1/2" difference between a front & rear hanger diagonally causing sway, bounce, tracking issues, movement etc. in the trailer. I've learned since that I'm not the only owner experiencing this issue and not many have found solutions that work. Those who have, I've tried with no difference made in my particular unit.
Now I'm told it's my responsibility to pay a 3rd party out of pocket to prove (again) that there's still an issue. Then, once I do; it must be reviewed by their team before they deem it something they need to fix under their "warranty".
I have since found cracks in the trailers frame and gaps / drops throughout the flooring inside.
I have filed a report with the NHTSA at this time providing every detail, email, invoice, photo, video proof, and written statement.
Design flaw in awning
Design flaw in awning. First time extended all was good. Had the back door opened and latched. When retracting it caught the back door and bent the rear support bracket beyond repair.
Was told by grand design they have no responsibility for it!!
We have a 2023 Grand Design fifth wheel…
We have a 2023 Grand Design fifth wheel that needed some replacement parts. Grand Design was helpful, professional, and timely in resolving the issues. Your company was on top of it, and we were impressed.
A special shout-out to Owen Bailey who assisted us. He worked with us throughout the process and corrected the issues completely.
We purchased a 2022 Grand Design…
We purchased a 2022 Grand Design Transcend Explor travel trailer in Feb. 2022. The travel trailer was used a few times for local trips to campgrounds. The first time we used it, the black plastic strips inside the trailer on the wall board came off. My husband glued them back on and they have been fine since. The last trip we took was to a local park for three days. The canopy fell down on one side of the trailer. The weather was perfect, no rain, no wind, no precipitation of any kind, so the weather cannot be blamed. During our stay we kept the canopy open. After the second night camping, we noticed the canopy had fallen down further on one side. The frame looked like it was bent to me. We saw the canopy had pulled away from the roller. We couldn’t drive home with it hanging so my husband was able to roll it up and used some large plastic tie wraps to hold it until we could get it back home. I found there were recalls for the same problem we had and I called Grand Design and told them what happened but I was told I was out of warrenty and our VIN was not on their list of recalls. I told them there were no accidents, bad weather or anything that caused this to happen and I felt it was a manufacturer's defect. They told me to call Solera the company that makes the canopies. I called and they did not want to take the responsibility and told me to call Grand Design. I called more than once and was told this is not a manufacturer's defect and is not a recall. I was being bounced around by both companies and no one wanted to take the responsibility for the defective canopy. We have not used the camper since that time for camping. We did tow it back to the place where we purchased the camper and they were absolutely no help. They kept the trailer for a month. I told them I was there for the canopy issue but they took it upon themselves to do a free 12 point inspection. One of the issues found was a problem with the axels and my husband was concerned about driving home with that particular problem so we agreed to have that problem attended to. They told us the canopy was not a manufacturer's defect or a recall issue and the canopy has not been attended to at this time.
Pray your unit is defect free because there is no warranty support.
I bought the camper (5th wheel Solitude) out of state (750 miles away) because no dealer near me had what I wanted. My first week out camping I saw the awning peeling away where it attaches to the camper. The nearest dealer to me wouldn't repair it under warranty because I didn't buy it from them. The closest dealer that would do the warranty work was 125 miles away. I left it at their shop for 7 weeks and they were not able to secure a new awning because the part was back ordered. I spend the winters in Florida and had to leave to beat the weather so now I have to find a dealer willing to do the warranty work because I didn't buy it from them and start the process all over again. Grand Design customer service was NO help in getting this resolved. It is all up to me to get this issue fixed. So now I'm sitting in the Florida sun with a new '23 model Grand Design Solitude without an awning. My advice is DO NOT buy a Grand Design RV. This is my 3rd and last Grand Design RV.
I bought a 2021 image 22
I bought a 2021 image 22 . First Microwave and the inverter went bad it was under warranty. A have to travel 3 hours to the nearest dealer . I know that’s not there fault. Then refrigerator went out and of course warranty was out they said that only cost 4200 dollars. And now the seam on the front has separated for the roof took it to a deal again and grand design said it was part of my maintenance. Costumer service not very helpful or nice . That’s the main reason I bought the grand design is because of the reviews. Boy was I wrong!
Don't trust them
In November, 2022, I purchased a 2023 Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE. One of the "Top Features" highlighted in their sales brochure is a tankless water heater. My unit is equipped with a 6 gallon Dometic tank type heater. I let it slide until after the second trip when it became clear the tank volume was insufficient for my wife to wash her hair even using water saving techniques. July 25, 2023, I contacted their customer service and explained my disappointment at an advertised Top Feature missing from my unit. The representative indicated that they reserve the right to change any feature without notice (not documented anywhere in the sales brochure). I was not satisfied and told her that the issue could be resolved by replacing the water heater with a tankless model. She agreed to further investigate. After 2 weeks and hearing nothing, I emailed for an update. The reply was they would do nothing. I am investigating further action I can take to get the feature they advertised. Where I live, they call this BAIT and SWITCH!
Update 8/16/2023
In response to a BBB complaint I filed, they say it was a supply chain issue and it was on the build sheet (like I was provided the build sheet). I paid for a tankless heater and that is what should be on the unit. Oh and by the way, it is apparently my fault because I didn't seek redress until now. The unit is still under full warranty. Buyer beware! One last note, Grand Design is owned by Winnebago. As they say, "the fish rots from the head down"! Hope this review helps you make a decision if you are considering a product from either manufacturer.
Update 10/23/2023
Tired of beating my head against the wall with these people. Just bought a Furrion tankless heater on Amazon for $650. Have an RV shop to install it for $380 in labor (2 hours). These people at Grand Design have thoroughly alienated a customer over $1,030. My advising folks not to buy a trailer from Grand Design will cost them much more than the cost of living up to their advertising. I went to an RV sale a week or so ago and told several folks looking at their products about my experience. I am guessing that in the near future, someone will not buy a trailer from them based on my experience, costing them much more than the $1,030. I plan to tell anyone in the market for a travel trailer my story. You know what they say, "I tell 2 people, they tell 2 people..... " it grows exponentially.
Update 2nd week of Nov., 2023
Sent note for technical support 4 days prior to end of warranty. No reply as of 11/29. I guess I am blackballed as a result of these negative reviews. Apparently they no longer view me as a customer worthy of their time. They have my money and that is all that seems to matter to them. Apparently, I am on my own from this point forward. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR PRODUCTS!!!!
2023 Imagine by Grand design
2023 Imagine. Worst RV ever. Stay away, please. I can't even list all the problems we are having happen right now. It's in the 20's. There wouldn't be enough space to list them all. Here are a few to start. The sun roof over the shower is just pulling apart, going to be some water damage there soon. The stove overhead vent filter cover fell off in transit onto the glass stove cover. Luckly it didn't break. Radio bluetooth doesn't work. My wife and I stayed in it to try it out one night while the weather was still warm so we turned on the AC and jump from the loud noise it was making, it was so loud we couldn't talk over it. Called the RV dealer we bought it from and asked for help, and they told us we had to drag it 200 miles to there dealership to get it fixed. (BLUEDOG RV PASCO WA) The dealer had it for two months and didn't do anything, then called and said it was done. They didnt even do a proper winterization on it that we paid for. That will be another review on RV service company's later. When we got it home the second time. We found trim laying on the floor where it had fallen off during transit. The cabinet veneer was peeling off everywhere. Then we had to stay in it as we were preparing to move our personal property after selling our house. That's when it got really bad. 3 weeks into march and the furnace stopped working. Had to use a space heater at night. That can be deadly. Tried to turn on the stove to bake some chicken tenders, and the pilot light wouldn't start. It's getting in the 80,s now so we have to use the real noisy AC unit. Waiting for that to go out. Then it won't be possible to stay in it. Called Grand design directly. They said they would have BLUEDOG CALL US. That never happened. They were no help at all. We are getting an attorney to sue.
Grand Design Customer Disservice
I bought a new Grand Design RV in 2019. After 1 year the refrigerator started malfunctioning. The first time I had repairs done it was covered under warranty. The second time I had repairs done I was told I would have to pay because the warranty was expired. This in spite of the fact that the problem was never fixed. Apparently issues magically disappear when the warranty expires.
Grand Design claims to put customer service at the forefront but nothing could be further from the truth. In reality they warranty nothing. Problems are deferred to the manufacturer of the faulty component.
