Ground News Bias! Have You Noticed the Complete Lack of Criticism of China and Its Government?
I was first very impressed with Ground News until I found it was always anti-Western. Then I explored who is behind Ground News and saw that they are far from transparent. You see, control what is promoted in online news—and what is buried and doesn’t make the headlines—and you control public perception.

The problem is not always fake news. It is which news is promoted.

Ground News presents itself as a tool for exposing media bias. But who is examining the bias of Ground News itself?

Why do some countries, governments, and political systems receive constant scrutiny, while criticism of China and the Chinese government appears far less visible? Is that simply a coincidence, or is it the result of editorial choices, financial interests, ownership structures, or outside influence?

Ground News should provide complete transparency about:

Who owns the company;
Who finances it;
Who its investors are;
How stories are selected and ranked;
Who controls its editorial priorities;
Whether any direct or indirect Chinese connections or influence exist.

A platform that judges the bias of others must accept an even higher standard of scrutiny.

Until these questions are answered clearly and independently verified, I will not treat Ground News—or any other major media organization—as a neutral authority.

Communism is not just another form of government. It is a stage more advanced than dictatorship.

I fear that our Western values have no chance against this.

I tried to cancel after my CC showed a $59.99 charge but the email to their help site not only didn't answer, they threatened me with 'any repeat emails will put you to the bottom of the callback list'. WTF? Cancel, cancel, cancel!!!!

I quite like the main features of the app and the media outlet breakdowns. I also like the newsletters they offer (e.g. the daily one, offbeat, etc.)

However I would like to note I don't like how they lock monthly subscriptions in the mobile app which is why I only give 4 stars.

Site is extremely slow very frustrating waiting for main topic pages to load. AI says it may be because servers are overloaded and algorithms take a lot of compute power. Unless changes are made, I will not be renewing my subscription.

No use for anything but the US. In the EU we have very left win news. And some center-left. And Ground news will mark them all as neutral. They are not showing anything new. All recommended news sites show the same stuff. We all know this what they say. We all know they are left or center left. So i would not trust anything they say if it's not US.

It does not seem to add much. It's a news aggregator kind of thing. Bloody expensive for that. No cool-off on the purchase either; once you are suckered in, that's it.

Avoid.

Yes it shows left/right lean, but even that is more of an opinion than fact, and you need to be quite inexperienced in life not to know what you are reading is one or the other.

Absolutely outstanding! The idea, the execution, the company, and their customer support is equally marvellous. Such a necessary and wonderful app in our climate of political deception and disinformation. If you are looking for a news app, this is the best, and offers so much more than any other. Especially love the features for assessing bias and ‘Blind Spot’. One of the only apps I’ve gifted it to loved ones (who all also love it). Thank you Ground News!

Thought it was a decent enough service, around 4 stars if you specifically want US news aggregator. Although because I'm from a country in Europe, I do notice it had a lot more errors in more European stories. For that more around 2.5 stars. I am mainly giving it 5 stars for the excellent customer service as the e-mail that was supposed to inform me my got into my spam, making me miss that. Given I am having financial issues at the time, they refunded everything.

This service provides a supposedly unbiased approach to news. However, in practice, it doesn't achieve this goal. Sure, you get both left- and right-leaning news sources, but when the entirety of the news is as corrupt as it is, seeing both sides of the corruption doesn't get you any closer to the truth. But that is what Ground News would have you believe. Its "blindspot" feature shows you propaganda from the other side on order to balance out the propaganda from your own side, and its front page is filled with propaganda from every side.

I was hoping to get good, reliable news from Ground News, but instead, it’s filled with the same stuff you find on social media and forums. It’s just endless politics, propaganda, pessimism, and an overall blemish to my day. You cannot use this service to hear about the news that matters to you, only the popular news which you cannot escape. This service is not worth the subscription. Save your time and your money. Go enjoy life and use your mind for something productive. That is certainly what I’ll be doing!

The interface is horrific, the website is a crime against design and all it really does that other sites don't is tell you the political orientation of the news. You still can't read articles without subscriptions and there's that many clicks to go through it's like fighting the cast of west side story.

It's a chore, it's clumsy, it obscures everything useful I have NO idea why it gets raved about it is a garbage ap.

Quick edit, the guys behind the scenes are really cool and open to suggestions. I was also rather annoyed when I wrote this review. It still stands, but it's a good idea that needs more polish.

I paid for the premium and was never given that and it seems to be very left-sided instead of left right and center on all topics. It’s very hard to find information that I’m interested in. Very disappointing.

Nick Shirley exposed this Ground News channel, they have heavily edited and taken their interview out of context. They claim that they "show all sides" but they removed a large portion of their interview and took out context to defame someone. They are fraudulent in their claims and do not represent the full story. I was a long time subscriber and felt they were neutral but now this recent revelation has left a lot of questions for the rest of their works. Why would they intentionally remove parts of the interview and clip them into misleading ways? What a shame, I trusted Ground News.

Provides light on fake news elements for those less capable of defining fact from bs.

I would give even more stars if I could! This app is not only super affordable but it’s super easy to use. It’s keeps things simple and allows me to separate the facts from the bias. Not only is it an amazing and affordable app but the people behind it are the absolute best with the best mission of making sure people are correctly educated. This platform is not only refreshing but revolutionary and much needed in a world of misinformation, fake news, social media madness, and partisan news. It is my consistent go-to for news and has truly given me a more rounded view of world events. Never before has there been such a desperate need for a tool that can help to spotlight the spectrum of news biases we are subjected to on a daily basis. Ground News gives you the ability to access viewpoints from both the left and right perspective and exposes the level of factuality of news articles. Thank you for freeing us from our echo chambers.

Ground News has been the only news network I've been able to trust. Along with how trustworthy the news they give is their team is amazing, they’ve gone above and beyond for me and I'm sure others too!

My experience with Ground News has been quite fantastic. The news is presented in a way that is easy to navigate, with clear bias indication and other information prominently displayed. The vantage plan has been very useful in keeping me up to date without allowing myself to bias to one side or the other.
Importantly, I believe that Ground News is putting a growing market pressure on journalists to be unbiased and factual, because if they don't have those ratings, we can simply click a single option, and they lose that traffic. This is incredibly powerful, and over time it may help reign in sensationalism and other distortions.
I would like to see the blindspot indicator be a bit more useful to those of us who are independent and centrists, though. Seeing what blindspots conservatives or liberals have is interesting, but it doesn't help improve my own understanding all that much.
All in all, I think the service is great, and I hope that they continue to be fantastic.
