Quality sofa; not-so-quality customer service

I placed an order with Harvey Norman Merry Hill for a sofa and related items totalling just under £1,900, with delivery scheduled in advance to align with an international house move.

Due to an internal error, the delivery did not take place as agreed. I was informed at short notice, after already travelling to the property specifically for the delivery. This left me without any seating in a newly occupied home, and I had no option but to spend an additional £179 on temporary furniture just to make the space usable over the weekend.

What followed was a very frustrating experience. I had to repeatedly chase for updates, calls went unanswered, and promised callbacks did not happen. There was a clear lack of urgency in addressing an issue that was entirely caused by the company.

In particular, my interactions with Caleb, the store manager, were difficult. I found him to be defensive and not especially proactive in resolving the situation, and I was ultimately left feeling that I had to drive the process forward myself.

That said, I do want to recognise Emily in the Merry Hill store, who was consistently helpful and responsive when I was able to reach her.

The situation was eventually escalated to head office, where Kirsty, the Furniture Case Manager, handled the matter with empathy and professionalism. She took the time to understand the full situation and worked towards a fair resolution, which I appreciated.

Mistakes can happen, but the difference lies in how they are handled. Unfortunately, the initial handling at store level fell well below expectations. While the final resolution was fair, the overall experience means I would be hesitant to purchase from Harvey Norman again.

I recently purchased a robot vacuum…

I recently purchased a robot vacuum cleaner from Harvey Norman, and I had a great experience thanks to Louise. She was extremely helpful, taking the time to carefully explain the different models, their functions, and features in a way that was easy to understand.

Louise was patient, knowledgeable, and made sure I felt confident in my choice before making the purchase. Her customer service really stood out and made the whole process smooth and enjoyable.

I’m very happy with both the product and the excellent service I received. Highly recommend asking for Louise if you’re shopping there!

absolute shambles ordered a dyson v11…

absolute shambles ordered a dyson v11 which never got delivered this was back in february. i’ve sent proof that delivery wasn’t sent as apparently it was delivered to my back porch ( which i don’t have)! i even sent proof that id instructed dpd to leave with my neighbour which they confirmed and then didnt do!
emails back and fourth for months and still no replacement or refund , these people are theives avoid at all costs

Wendy was a total delight!

I don't often write reviews, but the customer service recevied by Wendy in the Holywood Exchange branch of Harvey Norman on Sunday merited one. I was looking for a new matress and she went above and beyond. She was informative, friendly and made me feel valued as a customer. If only every in store experience was like this!

They can’t count

Saw a great offer on a speaker, chatted online to a lady who said 3 were in stock. Ordered and paid a few hours later only to get a phone call saying someone else ordered it days ago and it’s gone to them. How can you miscalculate stock only to say it’s sold out a few days ago. Not impressed tbh Forgot to mention, the woman who rang me up to cancel said it’d be weeks before there was more stock. I asked about ANY OTHER COLOUR AVAILABLE to which she replied “no” Today just 4 days later I got the same deal just a different colour Go figure…..

Ordered a PS5 Pro

Ordered a PS5 Pro, and it arrived with zero outer packaging - just the retail box completely battered. There’s even a nice little rattling sound inside for added suspense. Either the distribution centre lacks common sense or Harvey Norman is trying to cheap out on packaging. Absolutely awful, don’t buy!

Merry Hill

Been to the Merry Hill branch today to order our sofa, precious and Emily were amazing, explained all the options to us, made us feel comfortable in what can be a bit of an uncomfortable scenario!

Great Value, Selection and Helpful Staff

I came in not expecting much. I didn't know Harvey Norman had such a great selection of electrical goods. Upon entering Garry approached us to see if we needed help.
He made the experience easy. He was knowledgable and helpful. None of the pressurised selling we had experienced from other retailers.
We left with what we needed, and at a great price. I would definitely go to H.N again, before visiting other retailers. Special thank you to Garry.

Friendly knowledgeable staff but not pushy

All the staff we met were eager to help but not over pushy. We returned soon after our first visit and a very helpful, knowledgeable and personable assistant called Simon guided us through our purchase. We weren’t rushed and it felt good to buy something in person.

Mario at the Merry Hill branch provided exceptional service.

MacBook Neos were flying off the shelves, and I was desperate to get the blush version for my daughter before she flew back to college after Easter. I called the store, and Mario went above and beyond to help. He managed to secure the last blush model in store and arranged for it to be posted out quickly.

This was my first time purchasing from Harvey Norman, and thanks to Mario’s outstanding support, I would definitely buy from them again!
