I was convinced by the ads to buy this expensive rasor in the hopes it would be a great shaving experience. My high expectations were completely destroyed in different fases. Fase 1, I simplify tried for the first time and it was a disaster. It hurt my skin, got some cuts, and I could feel the beard easily. Fase 2, I checked the website for different techniques, and again it miserably failed. Fase 3, I got a kit with several brands of blades, high quality most of them. Tried the different blades with mixed results, from horrible to ok at best. After a month of putting the effort to like this rasor, I gave up. The good news? I got refund without any issues. I'm back to my old 5 blade rasor and life is good again.

I'm 77 and old enough to remember shaving with a single edge razor when I started shaving. I didn't like the Gillette Trac Two which they sent to everyone free when it was introduced (remember those days?). I hated it. Their slogan was "It's one blade better than the blade you're using now." I was using Wilkinson blades at the time and told them they should market theirs with the slogan "It's one better blade".

I was intrigued when a YT source mentioned Henson, so I decided to give it a try. I went all in buying the 50 year supply of blades which I don't think I'll ever get to use (how about a discount for us old-timers?).

My first shave with the Henson was smooth, with the expected issue of your skin getting used to a new method. I'm not that impressed with the shaving cream but I'll use it to give it a chance. I like my current gel much better.

The only thing I'd like to see changed is a longer handle. I realize it is about the same length as the old razors, but I'd like it about another inch longer.

For grins, I put a Henson blade in my old Gillette razor to see how it would do (yeah, I still have it). The old razor is a lot more aggressive and resulted in more scrapes and irritations. I'll keep the old razor in my collection, but the Henson will be my go to for now (who know maybe laser shaving will become a thing).

Absolutely no receipt of purchase and customer service is not replying to emails.
Edit: changed review from one star to three stars as they have sent the item out. Still not very happy with the customer service not replying. I guess I will take a wait and see approach as I did sign up for the lifetime razor blades. I've been trying to shop Canadian as much as possible so in a little disappointed with this company in regards to customer service

I'm super comfused by all these negative reviews. I bought this shaver after seeing it promoted on TLDR videos. Checked the TrustPilot after the purchase and was gutted by the feedback. Seriously considered cancelling. Tired it once it arrived and could not be happier. Shave is great. Will never have to buy those insanely expensive razor refill. I'm not locked in. I would seriously look into the veracity of the other reviews this razor is legit.

Trying to send back a Henson Razor and Blades I am not satisfied with. Sent a request and it sent back undeliverable. This is a joke. The razor is no good. Paid $95 and have no way to send back the razor. Do not buy from this company

All Marketing Hype - Cheap product sold at a silly premium price.
The product is a cheap $10 aluminium handle supplied with "stainless steel" blades that rust within 24hrs.

I populated address form on your website just to check how much will shipping and tax cost and it was a lot so I closed website and now you guys sended me 4th mail to encourage me to buy it. This is unbelievable, I was thinking about buying this razor in EU retailer but I won't. Your spam I just toxic

Hello I’ve spent over 300 dollars with Henson and I can’t even get a email concerning a 40% discount I’m supposed to get. I’ve purchased 2 aluminum shavers and one titanium, all with stands. I had a damaged shaver which I was told it was dropped and that you’d give me 40% off my next purchase. That’s fine but I’d like to order another Titanium shaver, the aluminum ones are so fragile. I’ve had the AL13 mild, for a couple of months now and I really can’t fault it. It’s a delight to use. I have Merkur x 3, a Parker and 2 x Muhle. I can honestly say that the Henson razor leaves them standing in the shade. The weight and the ergonomics suite me. The cleaning process is easy. And I have now ended my search for the ‘perfect’ razor. Much to my Wife’s great pleasure.

Ordered a Henson AL 13 from a US based vendor. Shipped quick, arrived in good order. Shaves well. Most reviewers show mixed conditions of confusion about what shaving involves, how to get up in the morning and sort out ensuring their underwear goes under their trousers and not on top, and other life basics. To be fair, shaving can be mysterious for the uninitiated and it can feel upsetting when experiences become confusing due to misunderstandings concerning the approach a specific razor is designed to take toward removing facial hair. For example, the Henson Al 13 is different from the general safety razor. It is different from cartridge razors. To discover the unique approach the Al 13 brings requires flexibility to discover a new touch. Yes, you must match your order to your beard type. If you need an aggressive cut, don't order the mild. Most unhappy reviews online these days originate in confused order placement. Do your research and pull the trigger only when you are sure you will be happy with what arrives in the box.
The aluminum craft demonstrated in the Al 13 is excellent. The threading and clamp of the blade is lovely. Henson has improved on the Safety Razor design in ways that are meaningful if you know what you are doing. The selection of razor blade can make a big difference for some people. Work your variables. Remember, two or even three passes, with shaving cream added for each, is good wet shaving - same with a straight razor and also the replaceable blade straight razor or shavette. Not a problem. This allows the follicles to be approached from varying angles. Don't let quick tempered lads wearing their skivvies over top of their pants make you second guess your true sense.

After contacting the customer services as per a response to my previous review, this remains a very disappointing one star for this product.
I've never had any problems with previous and current razors but I thought I may as well try this one considering it is a gift set. I will not be changing my choice of razors especially when no one can better it in every essential area.
I don't know who the intended marketing structure is based on but it's certainly not for anyone looking for a better option than what's been available for years in fact quite the reverse.

Is it the best shave Ive ever had: no.
Is it the best value: Yes, by far, I wish I had this when I was 16.

If youre looking to be blown away, it wont do that. If youre looking to not have to worry about expensive refills or whether you can give a disposable blade one more use before tossing, this is a great alternative as you can get a lifetime of blades for $10.

One note: The shave is a little gentle-- which may be a positive for some, and a negative for others. Id generally want it to be slightly more aggressive-- as it requires a couple passes to shave close-- but once you know that it's not a big deal.

Very disappointed in this product. I gave it a fair chance - tried it five times and switched out the blades according to the instructions, but I was lacerated each time I used it. The old fashioned Wilkenson Sword razors from decades ago were better. I will return to my Harry's subscription and hope Henson does the right thing and refunds my money.

I ordered one of these razors after I saw an offer where you could get a box of 100 blades for free. The order was placed the 20th of the month, then I got an email saying it had shipped on the 21st, then I checked the tracking number and all updates stopped on the 24th. It’s been 20 days since I ordered the razor, and I never got it delivered.

I wrote a few times along the way to ask for a refund, and the rep said they couldn’t give me a refund until 20 days had passed and they could consider it lost in transit. In the end I asked again and they sent me an email saying they would issue a full refund.

I’ve now read a few reviews in Trustpilot and several people have had the same issue. I can’t imagine having to deal with shipping it back for a return (because that’s on you) had that been the case.

Maybe they have great engineering and manufacturing but unacceptable logistics, and who knows about the actual shaving experience. Mixed bag.

Mid product, good ads. Reviews won't get posted on their website - they seem to control the ratios very precisely, only letting some low reviews get through.

Used for a couple months, very mid razor. Not even as clean as a cartridge, disposable razor. Not even a marketing masterclass. Just a scam and manipulation of media.

Hope people see this. They obviously link their 12000+ reviews because half of them are fake, and they curate exactly the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 star ratios. STAY AWAY. TRUST ME. A HIGHLY MARKETED PRODUCT CANNOT BE GOOD.

I saw the adds for this razor I thought it looked pretty cool, so I ordered one, the blue aluminum. The order did not take long to arrive, which was good because I was excited to try it out. The handle is well crafted, solid, and the blue is beautiful. Then I shaved with it. Worst shave I think I've ever had. At first I thought that, this being entirely new to me, perhaps I was doing something wrong, so I watched the videos on the website, and I tried adapting my technique to get a better shave. I tried using different shaving cream. Nothing helped, I couldn't achieve anything better than a mediocre shave. I still don't think that the concept is necessarily flawed, but it is an utterly failed execution. I suspect it is the exceptionally low quality blades that cause this to be an actual failure. Whatever the case, at the end of the day if the quality of the shave isn't there the entire system is absolute trash. I previously put a version of this on the Henson website, which they never posted, in spite of the fact that it should have gone up as a verified purchase. That's one way of making your reviews look good, unfortunately it also means that this company is fundamentally dishonest.

Update after reading reply from Henson Shaving: I waited several weeks after posting the review on their website, and they never posted it. Also, notice how they imply that I must have used profanity or been in some way offensive. This is untrue. I posted and honest and well written review. Clearly they are not to be trusted, as they have here given evidence.

When I put in my order with Henson, they had all my personal information from my email address, altho I had never shopped with them before. Apparently they use Shop Pay and I must have also used it once because that is how they had all my information. Most of their contact info is social media and I am not on social media. They did respond to my email though, and enlightened me about Shop Pay so I was able to cancel my credit card number with them. I really appreciate their quick response. I am probably a bit of a luddite when it comes to using the internet.

$46 USD to ship to the UK on a 13 day service when USPS charge $15. Absolute extortion and completely lost out on a sale. Their website has absolutely no mention of their trading address or registered business information and the fact it's hosted on Shopify suggests its yet another Chinese drop shipping business selling cheap products and hiding behind a clever marketing campaign.
