Really excellent service and communication from Sophie Wake and the conveyancing team at Hethertons. They dealt with the sale of my late father's house, a process which would have been more stressful and difficult had in not been for their calm and reassuring professionalism. There were a number of more challenging issues such as the partly completed part purchase of the freehold which Sophie dealt with efficiently, spending a lot of time chasing land registry to speed the sale along. I really appreciate their help and would highly recommend.

Hethertons may get good reviews for conveyancing but please avoid using them for a lasting power of attorney.
Incompetent badly drafted document causing anguish and worry for elderly people they are taking advantage of.

I've instructed Natalie Hall at Hethertons on 2 separate conveyancing matters and, each time, was very satisfied with the service I received. I was particularly impressed with the speed and clarity of her (virtually always, same-day) responses.

We were recommended by a family member and had no regrets. All parties in the chain were eager for a quick transition and wanting some corners to be cut. Hethertons were professional throughout and insisted on following all procedures in line with our requirements. Refusing to be harrassed by our vendor until everything was in order on our behalf. Under no circumstances use this company. I chose them as a local company with an office and named people to deal with my flat purchase, despite them being more expensive than online conveyancers.
The named people changed due to staff turnover without notice, they work from home most of the time and just don’t respond, auto reply is the norm, at no point does anyone pick up the fone - only sometimes do they return voice messages.
They make multiple basic errors - the most laughable being that they incorrectly completed an HMRC land registry form with the wrong date which led to me having a personal fine from HMRC.
I had the simplest of purchases - no mortgage, no survey, no chain, no searches - the only problems were generated by Hethertons incompetence, lack of action until the last moment and staff discontinuity.
Given it was the simplest of transactions, Hethertons still tried to charge me the full estimate, despite the fact at the time of estimate Hethertons couldn’t be bothered to inform themselves of the likely scope, so estimated on the basis of mortgages, chains, searches, blah, blah.
At a certain point I decided to only deal with the managing partner. I raised a formal complaint. At all times Hethertons continued to portray this whole pantomime as being perfectly ok - it wasn’t. There was mild embarrassment at being unable to fill in the HMRC form correctly.
I decided to pursue the complaint - Hethertons eventually refund 50 % of their fee, and the HMRC penalty that they created and I had to pay.
At all times they were dismissive and unresponsive to the formal complaint.
Do not use them. If you have a problem with them, escalate to a formal complaint and only deal with the managing partner. Do not give up - insist on refund of their fee. Expect it to take 6 months to resolve the complaint.

Theo was always so friendly and polite. Theo always communicated through out the whole process and was always so helpful with any of a questions or queries I raised.

Natalie was my conveyancer and I could not have had a better one. She was brilliant right from the start. Always available. Responded promptly to queries and looked after my interest extremely well. I felt on good hands and it relieved much of the stress that comes with buying/selling a property. Highly recommend Natalie/Hethertons to anyone.
