I have been a client of HM Cosmetics , until my most recent treatment, I trusted the clinic. Unfortunately, my last experience has completely changed my opinion.

I booked a 3 ml filler package and travelled over 100 miles for my appointment. Halfway through my journey, I received a call to say Holly had cancelled my appointment. Whilst I understand emergencies happen, I was extremely disappointed by how the situation was handled. The receptionist showed no empathy whatsoever for the inconvenience caused. During the call, I expressed my frustration at having travelled such a long distance for nothing, only to later find out I had been described as “aggressive”. I strongly dispute that. I was upset and frustrated, but I was never abusive.

As a Black woman, being labelled “aggressive” was particularly upsetting because of the stereotypes Black women often face. When I later spoke to Holly, I felt she accepted the receptionist’s version of events rather than listening to me, a loyal client of two years. That was the first point where my trust started to disappear.

My appointment was eventually rearranged. During all my previous treatments my face had been marked before filler was injected, but this wasn’t done on this occasion. I only wanted a very small amount of filler to soften a slight crease near my nasolabial fold.

After the treatment settled, I became increasingly unhappy with the result. Instead of looking refreshed, I felt the filler made the area around my nose look puffy and overfilled, with fullness sitting above my nasolabial folds that I had never had before. Rather than improving my appearance, I genuinely felt it made me look older.

I contacted Holly to explain my concerns and was advised to massage the area. This made no difference. I was then asked to send photographs, but after reviewing them I was told she couldn’t see a problem. Whether she could see it or not, it was my face and I felt my concerns should have been acknowledged and taken seriously.

I booked a review because I specifically wanted to discuss dissolving the filler. Instead, I was advised against dissolving and encouraged to have more filler. Trusting Holly’s professional opinion, I agreed. Looking back, I deeply regret that decision because it did not correct the issue I had originally raised.

As I remained unhappy, I sought an independent second opinion from a doctor experienced in corrective aesthetics. After examining me, I was given a very different explanation for why the area appeared overfilled and was advised that a conservative dissolve could be considered. Hearing such a different professional opinion left me questioning the treatment I had received.

When I contacted Holly again and explained that I was still unhappy and had obtained a second opinion, I felt completely dismissed. Instead of showing any empathy or understanding, I was told that if I wasn’t happy, I was welcome to go elsewhere.

Although another appointment was offered, by that point I had completely lost trust and confidence. Cosmetic procedures require trust between practitioner and client, and unfortunately that trust had broken down. I no longer felt comfortable allowing the same person to treat my face.

As a result, I have now had to seek help elsewhere and face paying additional money to try and correct a result that I never wanted.

As a Black woman, this experience has left me feeling unheard and dismissed. Because of my personal experience, I cannot recommend this clinic to my fellow Black queens. We all deserve to feel listened to, respected and taken seriously when trusting someone with our faces.

I fully expect HM Cosmetics to respond to this review with their version of events, and they are entitled to do so. However, this review is an honest account of my own experience as a paying client. I have nothing to gain from writing this other than sharing what happened to me so others can make an informed decision before choosing where to spend their money and place their trust.

I genuinely wish my experience had been different, but unfortunately it wasn’t.

I had such an amazing experience at HM Cosmetics !! From the moment I walked in, the hospitality was incredible and I felt so welcomed even being offered a drink was such a lovely touch.

Holly did my fillers and was absolutely amazing. She talked me through every step, made me feel really comfortable, and gave such great advice on what would suit me best. The numbing she used was also the best I’ve experienced compared to other places I’ve been.

Overall, it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. I’m so happy with my results and would definitely recommend HM Cosmetics.

I honestly can’t recommend HM Cosmetics enough! Yaz never fails to impress me with my lamination brows and lash lift — every single appointment leaves me feeling amazing. The salon itself is absolutely gorgeous, such a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere from the moment you walk in.

Yaz and the girls are all so friendly, professional, and incredibly talented at what they do. They really take their time to make sure everything is perfect, and the results always exceed my expectations. I constantly get compliments after my appointments!

I have been going to HM Cosmetics for 5 years now and all the girls are amazing at what they do - super professional and take such pride in their craft. I do however love going to see Sophie and trust no one else with my brows :). Today I tried the Korean lash lift and love the results!

Taz, what a lovely person you are. I came in today, tired after being up all night with my baby and when I left the salon, I felt much more upbeat. Amazing brows and lashes, but you as a person made it a far more comfortable and enjoyable experience!

I’ve been a client at HM Cosmetics for the past 6 years and I’m so glad I came across them. From day one the level of care and professionalism has been amazing.

Holly is honestly incredible at what she does. She really is the best in the game! She really listens to what you want and makes sure you feel comfortable every step of the way. I initially came in for a nose filler as I was really insecure and I can honestly say she has massively helped my confidence. The results were so natural and exactly what I hoped for. She gives honest advice and never pushes treatments you don’t need & I feel she has a very natural aesthetic and doesn’t overdo anything. Her attention to detail is amazing.

I’ve had a range of treatments including Fillers, Botox and Lip Blush and every experience has been amazing. Holly, Olivia, Leanne at reception, and all the girls are so attentive and welcoming. They always put the customer first and are so patient when talking through options and making sure you feel completely at ease. The atmosphere is always warm and friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about their clients. Such a lovely team. The results are amazing – exactly what I wanted. My lips look fuller but still natural, and the best part is I had no bruising at all afterwards which I was really impressed with. I’m beyond happy with them and will definitely be coming back!
