2 Years Post Construction and still waiting for defect rectification.
Still waiting for acceptance and accountability for defective works!

I've decided to provide an update of our experience as we approach 2 years since our build was scheduled for completion.

In that time, we have been ignored, dodged, avoided, lied to and given the run-around.
Hotondo Campbelltown have done nothing to actively remediate our defects.

At the request of Hotondo Head-Office, we have kept quiet and respectful in the hope that our issues might be resolved without further conflict. Fail.

We thank Hotondo Head-Office for stepping in to assist in resolving the issues with Hotondo Campbelltown, some issues were resolved over that time, but many major items remaining. We had hoped that the involvement of Head Office would assist with a speedy resolution that could avoid further action but ultimately these franchises remain Soley responsible.

Over the last 2 years, additional issues have manifested including a major defect in our bathroom which has revealed non-code-compliant installation of the bath and frame which we now have to resolve with Fair Trading.

Do yourself a favor and avoid like the plague.

In honor of our 2-year anniversary, we are considering detailing the defects and poor workmanship in a social media homage dedicated to this remarkable team.

I'm sure Hotondo Campbelltown had hoped that we would eventually lose interest and go away - but i don't believe in quitting while there's still work to be done.

I'm happy for the people providing the good reviews.... I'm glad you have not had our experience.

Very poor quality.
Rubbish tradesmen contracted to Hotondo. Clearly finds the cheapest tradies to maximise profits. Had to repaint stairwell and on close inspection the filler in the walls and the poor workman ship meant it had to be done again. Roof leaked to the point of collapsing in after 3 years due to poorly sealed pipe causing water to flow in and soak ceiling to collapse. Owner is arrogant and blamed everyone bar his company. Floor on second level creaks everywhere you walk and cracks in the wall.
Fancy style built very cheap and nasty.

Poor communication, poor customer service, poor conflict resolution. Refuse to answer enquiries or get back to you. Ignore you.

Wish I'd gone elsewhere.

Power feed in line put in different to written instructions.
Meter box put in different to plans.
Unable to get price breakdown on requested items.
Unable to get prices on colour selection changes, several email requests whilst being chased for signature for colour selection.
Wrong doors,
wrong counter tops,
wrong tap different to others,

Bathroom wall out around 25 mm, wrong bath size resulting.

Power point put in different to written instructions.

Future dated letter.

Had to redo front and rear concrete patios, poor standard, was implied my standards are too high and should get own concretor.

Then also change contract, offering half cost of the concrete change.

Then had to redo half of driveway as it varied from 2.6 to 3 meter width.

I'm sure my standards caused that.

Had to refuse handover as downpipes were leaking, 3 times previous were told.

6 months in, leaking from main (spare) toilet flooded 3rd bedroom, plumber stopped leak, my personal insurance company had to fix flooding and stop further damage, still waiting on hotondo to call me back since January 2023

Further leaks found.

Had two air conditioning units installed both failed, one after being used 3 times other leaking water into wall cavity.

Concrete issues remain and simple things are a fight, let alone get fixed.

When trying to repair concrete again, video shows hotondo worker throwing concrete chunks around my property maybe neighbours also, expect a phone call from him.

I'm sure there is more, this is off top of my head and phone.

I'm sure I will find more faults over time.

Unfortunately not enough room for more than 10 photos, have many more.

Head office unhelpful.

Most narcissistic, disingenuous, arrogant, ignorant, holier than thou company I have engaged. RUN AWAY.

Builders went into liquidation just weeks after taking ours and other customers money.
Hotondo Head Office have done nothing to assist other than trying to remove every trace of them from the internet.
With over 20 customers affected and over 1 million dollars missing and owed to customers and contractors alike the company is only interested in paying for TV ads and ignoring the media.

I was dealing with Hotondo on the Mid North Coast, who were wonderful. I saw online that they advertised they were also in Armidale. I then asked for a price to build the same house in Armidale and was given a quote which was $134,000 above the estimate for the mid north coast. Customer service got back to me to explain most of the difference in price. When I said I would update my post on Facebook I was threatened with legal action. Found this very surprising. In my opinion, wouldn't it be better that all consumers understood how they do their pricing rather than not know how there is a gap of $134,000?
Where is the transparency here?
There was no accounting for a large amount of money and I was treated, in my opinion, like I was very rude for even asking.
This experience with this one person from Customer service has put me right off the organisation all together.

We completed our build in November 2018 with Hotondo Homes and where extremely happy throughout the construction process. Communication and customer service was fantastic.

However, after we took possession of the property we have been actively chasing outstanding maintenance and repairs to defects with the build, as per our contract of sale.

13 months later, we still have issues which remain unaddressed with no action or follow up from Hotondo Homes, which has tarnished the entire build process.

We have contacted Hotondo Homes repeatedly and all throughout 2019 but failed to see a resolution.

Unfortunately our contract of sale; which stipulates a requirement for “defects to be repaired within 21 days or a reasonable timeframe” isn’t worth the paper it’s written on, and it appears we have no choice but to pursue in the external forums to have the builder meet their obligations.

Additionally; contact to the Hotondo Head Office to attempt resolve the issue has also gained no traction and despite lodging complaints through the “Customer Care Team” the experience has mirrored the customer service from the builder directly.
