The cooling topper does do a good job…
The cooling topper does do a good job of cooling. A few suggestions or thoughts: The remote should have a screen so you can see what temp you are setting. Since it doesn't you still have to be close to the hub to see what you are setting from your remote. The remote is basically just buttons and you can guess what you have done, or use the console for accuracy. The hub (console) is quiet, the slight noise is not distracting at all. I am a light sleeper and the sound does not keep me up. The main issue with the console is that it produces a lot of heat. If I am cooling my bed, chances are I don't want something in my room producing a lot of heat. The other primary concern is of the connector tubes from console to mattress topper. It connects from the side, meaning you cannot choose which side to put the console, if you want the cover side that produces the best cooling effect you have to have the tubes come out of the right side (facing bed from foot). So, if you sleep on the left side, you will not be able to see the console settings without getting up. The tubes should be placed in the center-top of the mattress pad so that they can go to either side to connect to the hub. Also, it would be safer positioned on the top center (or bottom center). As it is, the large piece that the tubes connect to in the topper is a very hard stiff material. The first night I used it I rubbed up against the connector and tore a large chuck of skin from near my elbow. I now have wrapped the connector with soft cloth to protect myself. Had the connectors been attached to the top center of the topper this could not have happened. Haven't tried the heating element yet, it'll be a few months before I can test that, but heating is easier than cooling so I assume that the heating aspect will work perfectly. One other thing, the elastic strips at each corner are odd. I could not get them to stay under the mattress corner, and one of them tore away the first time I tried to use it. Luckily I use additional mattress covers on top and bottom to protect against leaks so the top matress cover keeps the topper in place.
