Customer for 12 years
Customer for 12 years
I was a customer with iPower for more than a decade. When I first signed up, the company offered stellar support and an incentive - Reseller Console. Customers could buy $35/year WordPress sites that offered generous storage and bandwidth - perfect for small groups.
Now those customers must pay huge $150/year plans that are not affordable. I wasn't willing to pass that to my customers, so I ate a significant cost for several years.
Their customer service is robotic - just paying attention to small issues with zero empathy or consideration for your situation. On top of that, they offer no refunds or comparable plans that are remotely close to anything offered today so there is zero competitiveness.
Their infrastructure is also degraded heavily. An expensive $150/year plan is not only expensive, you're operating on old hardware - so sites load slowly and i/o is terrible.
I do not recommend iPower for any web hosting needs. About all I'd say they are good for is registering a domain or their email-only plans that are reasonable for $35/year.
I cant even..
I cant even.. I don't know where to start. My website is stuck on PHP 7.4 when PHP already changed to 8 5 years ago and is now at 8.4. I received a message on my dashboard that 7.4 was no longer receiving security updates and went to my ipower dashboard to change the version. 7.4 is the last version on offer. Customer support(!) was totally useless and also managed to convey that they were a muppet dealing with other chats at the same time by referring to my web domain as a different one(ie posting in the wrong chat). I'm done paying for this , and I would not recommend them ever. They don't know what they are talking about and lie about when things will be resolved. You cant speak to anyone apart from the barely-trained muppets that you get in the chat.
LESS THAN ZERO
LESS THAN ZERO, IPOWER HAS BECOME COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT. NO SUPPORT OTHER THAN WEB CHAT WHICH TAKES HOURS OF CONVERSATION ON THIER WEB SITE LEADING TO NO HELP AT ALL.
IPOWER DISCOUNTINUED PHONE SUPPORT AND EMAIL SUPPORT.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL.
I would like to give I Power a ZERO.
I would like to give I Power a ZERO.
First, they are far too expensive.
Second, you cannot cancel until your site comes up for renewal.
Third, a third party I do not know has themselves listed on my sites.
Fourth, there is no support! When you "just contact support," you are taken to innumerable "articles" instead of a support team.
Never again.
Received notice that spam was being…
Received notice that spam was being sent from one of our email addresses, and IPower had shut email address down. Contacted IPower via chat, as that is all they have to look into issue. After 3 separate chats spanning 3-hours their answer was wait a few hours and problem will be resolved. Not the case, following day, another 1-hour spent with these Goofballs, continued to tell me to wait a few hours, after much persistence they escalated our call. We would receive an email in 24-hours. We are running a service business and can't wait 24-hours. How is this company in business ?? STAY AWAY FROM IPOWER
16 year client - RUN From Ipower!
RUN! I'm a 16 year client appalled at how terrible their service and products have become recently. I wish 0 was an option for this review. Since they were acquired,
by Blue Host, they offer uneducated chat - only service and quite unreliable hosting. They now offer no phone number for customer service help and used to offer 24/7 phone support. Their email platform and all technology supporting URL's are severely out of date.
Yesterday, I spent 6 hours with 7 chat agents who proved I know more about their business than they do. I'm invoicing them for hours of my time wasted and reporting them to every governing agency possible. Their chat - only only off shore support read scripts without any technology understanding and are based in the Phillipines. Every chat agent refused to escalate their inability to help and rude demeanor to a supervisor, when you request their supervisors. They'll quote you hosting pricing up to 10 times their hosting - competition pricing. I copied pricing into chat support obtained online directly from Ipower and they acted like the pricing posted was to low and was "a mistake" and tried. Then tried to charge 700% more than currently advertised hosting pricing. On top of fraudulent price gauging, which you can eventually beat them down on by using their own pricing ads online, and past credit card statement proof or previous hosting costs. On top of trying to gauge you on hosting fees, they'll always charge your card about 40.00 additionally without telling you for your "domain change." Watch your credit card statement closely, as they'll often add monthly junk charges to your card after you've already paid in full for a year of hosting. Your URL will disappear off and on, and they'll take days to get it back online, even though you've paid them in full for support and what they promise will be uninterrupted hosting. They'll make it nearly impossible to get details needed to move your URL and charge hundreds to port your URL to any competitor.
There's a reason all reviews are full of mistreated and fraudulently charged clients, who can't even make a call for prompt support. They've become a business hell and by far, the Worst Business I've ever experienced.
Stay away from this company
Stay away from this company. They will add all types of charges to your credit card recurrently without letting you know. It is almost impossible to contact them. I tried many times and many ways to stop them, they would promise you, but charge never stops. I asked my credit card bank to stop the recurring payment, but iPower will change a name and keeping charging you. Eventually I have to close my credit card account to stop them!
Awesome Power Washer
3,200 Power Washer has worked perfectly the 3 times I have used it. Purchased at Princess Auto,Whitby,Ont.Canada. Unit was on Sale and very good value for the Money. Unit is very portable and is better designed than most Power Washers. I am very satisfied with this product.

The support service is terrible .

The only good thing is their low price
However no value for money
Their customer service is beyond…
Their customer service is beyond terrible.
I'm trying to transfer one of my domains to someone else. First time I tried this, a few months ago, I couldn't get an auth-code generated. The chat help people told me to try a different email address.... which locked my account. So now I'm trying again. Tried the automated system; it doesn't do anything. The person (?) says it can take 4 hours to get the auth-code (which is crazy). Oh, and they asked me to verify using a magic question which isn't even on their pulldown list!
So no, my problem isn't solved...
The worst technical support
The worst technical support. Most of them don't know what they doing. They mess things up and create more problems that you try then fix with another customer service agent. They are very unprofessional. I don't recommend them at all.
Terrible !
Terrible customer service (only on chat and slow responding), high prices, terrible to work with STAY AWAY!
Professional Thieves
Last month, before leaving iPower & going to InMotionHosting, I verified with iPower billing that none of my domains or my hosting account is set to auto-renew. Today, an automatic payment for a domain, which was set to manual renewal, was removed from my account. It's just plain thievery. I'll be contacting the FTC, FCC and the Arizona General Attorney's Office. I'll also be filing a small claims case in my state against them.
If I could give this company no stars I…
If I could give this company no stars I would!
20 years ago, I chose iPower for myself and my clients. They ticked all the boxes: Great customer service and tech support in the US. They we're inexpensive and resolved issues quickly, with little downtime. Slowly the life got squeezed out of iPower when EIG bought them (and many others) transferring all the positions to the Philippines. Now, in 2024, I have 2 clients left with them, having migrated everyone else to other hosts. AND as soon as I can they will be migrated away too.
You might ask, What makes iPower so bad?
• ZERO customer service (all bot driven)
• Out-of-date servers
• Gas lighting customers into thinking the issue user-based (it's not)
• Constant site outages
• Slow FTP download and back-up
• Out-of-date scripts; MySQL & php
• No longer able to export files directly without paying a fee
• Tech workers in the Philippines work in sweatshops. Google: "Behind the AI boom, an army of overseas workers in ‘digital sweatshops’" By Rebecca Tan and Regine Cabato (link not allowed in Trust Pilot)
If you decide to go with iPower, let it be known that you were warned by an experienced Web Developer!
Ipower customer service is the worst
Ipower customer service is the worst. My domain was shut down after 20 years. No explanation why. The verification process is not working. When I try to get help, the only option is live chat. NOBODY knows what they are doing, and there is nothing you can do about it. I have been paying for my email service since 2004, now they shut it down and until the verification process is complete, which is taking over 20 days now, I have no access to my inbox. This is how a customer for 20 years is being treated.
iPower Deleted Many Years of EMail Data
I have been a customer of iPower for over 15 years. They hosted my email, and I paid extra for them to host it on an Exchange Server. Recently they decided to stop offering the Exchange Server email. Apparently, they sent out one single email announcing the end of service. I did not see that one email - possibly my fault. But I woke up one morning with no access to email. After frustrating hours with their support chat, I figured out what happened. They offered me no ability to get a backup of my emails. Apparently on the day the stopped offering the service they deleted everything including any backups they might have had. I asked to speak to senior management, but they refused to pass my request on - at one point claiming they had no phones in the company. I understand that companies make business decisions to stop offering services. But they handled this very poorly. They should have sent out a series of emails and made sure I had the information to transition to another service. I have lost many years of email history that I count on. I will never do business with them again. Stay away.
I wasted an hour this morning on a chat…
I wasted an hour this morning on a chat - I'm trying to get the code numbers to transfer my two domains away from ipower and to another company. There were ridiculous hoops to jump through, and I cannot find a customer service phone number anywhere. I am planning to file a variety of complaints against this company. I just want to leave and go to another company, and they are preventing me from doing so by imposing too many obstacles! Edited: This morning, ipower wanted me to fill out an online authentication form, but I was unable to do so because there was no way to close the chat window, which was in the way. I eventually closed out everything and used a different browser to fill out that form. I then logged in again, around 7 hours later, when I was no longer fuming made, and even though the chat was unbearably slow, I was able to get the codes for my two domains, which will allow me to move to another company. I cannot wait to go to another company - I'm going back to Dreamhost, which used to host two websites for me, and which has been very helpful to me over the last couple of days through emails. Their prices are right, too!
Stay away from iPower! Awful!
We have used iPower since 2014. They have become hideous to deal with. Customer service used to be good and now you can get NOTHING done when there is a problem. Our site has been down for over a week because of an iPower problem they refuse to resolve or are too incompetent to resolve. NEVER use this company. You will waste time and money.
Understaffed, under qualified, overpriced.
Understaffed, overpriced and managed by total technical incompetents. I've used many hosting services and iPower was, by far, the worst.
Claimed backups did not exist, tech people were useless and they stopped offering phone support. Finally, their pricing is now laughably high. I literally pay 10X less elsewhere.
Run don't walk away from this outfit and the company that owns this and many other hosting sites.
