Ruining your reputation

I havent got the doors i ordered from B&Q, because the courier they use to deliver, is, well incompetent of delivering. 2 orders, 8 doors later, both orders damaged by the courier. Let's name them... DX. So they send tracking, fantastic, well until their tracking states unable to deliver, but each time they are no where near my address, I'm either being fobbed off, or someone needs to take charge and take responsibility. HOW YOU STILL MANAGE TO KEEP YOUR BUSINESSES GOING IS BEYOND ME. Are the doors really that cheap it doesn't matter if they get damaged in transit!

Jeld Wen substandard doors

The house builder that I bought my new build from had used Jeld Wen for the patio doors these doors have been an issue since the first evening I moved in as I couldn't lock them since then it has been the same with 10 adjustments taking between 45 minutes to 4 hours from a myriad of people,the site manager the door fitter his manager Jeld wen engineer a locksmith who advised it isn't the lock but Denbury homes don't listen so they sent him ,I told them the door lock works beautifully if the door is open which is a serious drawback because you need the lock to engage when you close the doors . Denbury homes refuse to help even though the 2 year warranty time has a litany of emails from me about these faulty doors dating back to my
first problem on day one of my residency here.

Jeld Wen advised in their report that I was using the doors too much !!!! I checked their literature in the welcome pack there is nothing about the number of times one can use their patio/ french doors ,unsurprisingly.

The doors are wood framed and the warranty clearly is as good as a bit of used loo roll . These two companies clearly had an agreement to disregard home owners safety
and security with their highly substandard
doors now a neighbour with the same door
problems along with me are having to pay over £2k each for new uPVC doors to ensure our safety and that our home insurance remains effective it would be a joke were it funny but sadly it isn't .

I would avoid both Jeld Wen and Denbury homes as they don't give a damn about quality once they have their money and even less about home security and safety .

Premium price for a basic product

I paid extra for what I thought were high quality windows (Stormsure+ timber windows). When I got them the paint was damaged in transit and elsewhere they were pooly finished - not great for a timber product which relies on the finish for it's durability.

A year or so later and a small thing - the screw caps over the handles fell off. Initially they said they'd send replacements, then the said they didn't have replacements and it wasn't covered by the warranty as it wasn't a 'structural issue'. It's clear their warranty has a lot of caveats they can call on when needed and I am worried that if anything else goes wrong it'll turn out not to be worth the paper it's written on.

I am giving them 2 stars because although the windows are performing OK after 2 years (with some small problems), they're meant to last 20-25 years and I don't think they will last anywhere near that long. My other option was for an aluminimum window and in hindsight I wish I'd gone with that

not solid wood

I bought 6 solid wood doors.
But when I put handles I realazed that doors absolutely not solid wood.
it's a wood frame with the shaving wood inside.
Such rubbish should cost cheaper.

Super helpful warranty staff

Massive thanks to the lady I spoke to this morning in warranty dept. I needed to trace a window spray paint colour going back +12 years in order to re-spray paint the windows on a property we have bought. The lady went out of her way try and trace the original purchase order to no avail, but did manage to find me the right paint colour and provide a British Standards number for it.
Truly wonderful service. Very impressed. With her help I have managed to save us several hundreds of pounds with a simple refresh paint rather than a full repaint and retain the same colour.

Generally a good product with one real problem

Because of planning we had to have wooden doors and windows in a conversion. Generally I'm satisfied with the product as supplied, however the wooden doors stick with the changing weather.
I have one distinct problem which I didn't notice until recently other than the internal beading on the bottom door frame was very damp. I replaced it and assumed it was simply ingress of rain when the door was open. However I took a video of the real problem. I immediately got onto Jeld Wen under warranty and explained but of course you can't deal direct you have to get the order details from the retailer (Travis Perkins). Still waiting for the call-back. Jeld Wen can't open the video. I can't do it in another format, so hoping it will upload here and people can see what is wrong. I want the door replacing. I feel I'm being fobbed off.
Update. Travis Perkins have stepped up, despite difficulty finding the detail and Jeld-wen now acknowledging the order. Waiting to see what they will do.

Doors and windows

Mine was one of 2 new houses built in 2018, both with Jeld-Wen wooden doors and windows, some painted and some with a clear coating. JW have been out twice to me and 3 times to my neighbours. As well as bi-fold door gaps and closing issues, the main reason is because water seeps in through the (micron!) thin coating on the strips around the glass resulting in the underlying wood getting discoloured, reflecting the start of rot.
JW's response to complaints was basically, I know our technician (who came around to resolve the first complaint) didn't tell you, but you should have rubbed them all down and re-coated them regularly.
I'm sure they were cheap for the builder but, if you get a chance, don't go there. You get what you pay for. I have no doubt I'll end up having to replace the lot inside 10 years, which is a disgrace.

Why do the big companies all do this?

The product is great to look at and fit. Then after a while, it sags. We fitted a set of 4 bi-fold doors that are top hung and at. first, they were great. Followed all the instructions in the book.
A year later they started sagging, so no problem just turn up the adjusting bolts. Then the threads were stripped. With a ten-year warranty, it should be no problem. Until U email JELD-WEN UK then they say to contact the company you bought the doors from. "Here we go I thought" do all these 'fob-off' companies run by the same pass-the-buck set of rules, we all know it ends up with them anyway! They gave me the company that supplies them with the parts they use and I decided to just buy new parts. Oh, they do not sell to the 'Public' I now have to find a company with an account that deals with "Brio UK." How much time is spent by these large companies making life difficult for the public? If the management of eighter of these companies ever read this it may be a good idea to go on a "John Lewis training day" this gives U a good name and not the one that's currently in my head.
