Well-organized, with several virtual "prep" meetings and other materials that make everything run smoothly. Plenty of opportunities to ask questions. My son had a great week and arrived home with good general knowledge about the medical field. He also met some new friends and got to spend time on a campus that he's considering attending.

This teen pre-med summer program exceeded our expectations. My daughter came home more inspired than ever to pursue a career in medicine. She had a fantastic time surrounded by passionate people, engaging in fun, hands-on educational activities that made learning exciting and memorable. An incredible experience that truly sparked her curiosity for the medical field.

This program is well organized! They did a great job including the good and bad information about Med school. The morning session were very informative and much needed. The counselors are great and have amazing attitudes! It’s a busy day but it makes the time go fast! So much fun and interesting conversations all day long. The only thing I will say the hands on activities are not what I expected. It is all different for the track but I wish we did more hands on activities! The bonding you have with your tracks and roommates was amazing! The nights and plans they have put together was amazing! I recommend and it’s definitely worth the money!!

The opportunity to be in classes with different medical professionals was an amazing experience for Lillian. According to Lily, the simulations were awesome. The group of students that participated were all so warm and welcoming. I am so grateful to have searched and found Outset for Lily. Hoping to participate again in the future as an alumni.

My daughter continues to rave about her experience at Outset this summer. She's more excited then ever to pursue medicine. She loved the lectures, hands on experience and all the staff and other students. Thanks for providing such a great experience.

The camp was super fun and a good experience. I got to meet a lot of new people both my age and those with more experience. The “path to physician” lessons were super helpful to give guidance on undergrad / med school / residency. The path specific lessons were also helpful and it was fun to meet new doctors. Sophia and Lewis were amazing counselors as well!

The lectures were given by incredibly knowledgeable individuals who truly understood the ins and outs of med schools and the hands on activities showed what being in med school is like.

Outset was my perfect 2025 summer beginning. Outset provided knowledge, skills, networking and long lasting friendships. Now I am more certain of the type of doctor and person I want to become.

Our daughter is a rising senior and attended the Outset camp at UNC. She enjoyed staying on UNC’s campus, living in dorm, and met a handful of new friends from all over that she’ll have for life. She was impressed with the speakers, enriching engaging content, and loved the skills lab! Her favorites were the OR simulation lab, intubation lab, and suture skill lab. In addition to enriching content during the day, they had balanced fun exploring Franklin Street, Durham Bull’s baseball game, zip lining, pickle ball and pool time! This was her first overnight camp and was a huge success! Staff were very professional, friendly and organized. Highly recommend for any student with interest in health care industry.

I really enjoyed being around people like me who are interested in medicine. You don’t find those kind of people just anywhere. I loved doing the simulations and being around real surgeons and pre med students! They answered every question I had. I look forward to next year.

My daughter Absolutely Loved this program!! It gave her glimpse of what college life and medical school will be like for her when she enrolls in college. She is looking forward to coming back next year!!

My rising sophmore found Outset because she wanted to learn more about becoming a doctor. She had enjoyed her HS biology class, and likes how much her grandmother enjoys being a physician. The camp met or exceeded all of her expectations. She participated in the surgery week, and came home with a deeper appreciation of the study and practice of various specialties that fall under surgery. She hopes to return next year to learn more about primary care. As a parent, I wanted her to have a safe, inspiring, and educational experience. She did.

My son recently attended the Outset program and came back with great excitement to pursue medicine. What an exceptional experience for our youth. A great blend of strong academics and fun. My son came to the program from the west coast and the entire experience from airport to UNC and back was seamless thanks to Lawson. Thank you to Lawson and the Outset team.

My son attended the Outset program and had a wonderful experience. The students, faculty and staff really made an impact on him. He also enjoyed the school and its facilities. We look forward to learning more for 2025. Thank you!

My daughter, who is going into ninth grade, did the medical camp for a week at UNC Chapel Hill. She chose to do the surgical track. It motivated her and solidified her interest in medicine. I am a Harvard-trained surgeon myself, I’ve never pushed either of my daughters to go into medicine, but when she expressed an interest, I brought up the Outset camp which she chose to do. We are thrilled she had this experience! She loved it and made and met wonderful friends from all over the country. I highly recommend it! She was very nervous going into it, not having any friends and nervous it would be over her head, but she said it was the best decision. She also had fun during all the activities. The camp was outstanding! Thank you to Lawson and the team.

My son thoroughly enjoyed his experience with this camp. Only recently has he shown interest in pursuing a career in the medical field and this camp solidified that is exactly what he wants to do. He enjoyed the various pathways explored and he thought it was a good mix of learning and social outings. Thank you Outset!

My Daughter was so excited for this experience and she was not disappointed. From the initial introduction, to the week at camp, the Outset staff has been awesome. Since returning home she has provided me with a list of things she has learned and created a list of action items for next time. I’m so grateful that we had this opportunity and look forward to sharing it with many others. I highly recommend this program as a great introduction to medicine.

Really great experience
Our daughter shared how much she learned and how much fun she had learning the entire week of camp. The Outset team was great at providing up to date communication from start to finish. Lawson and his staff were actively engaged and offered tremendous support and communicated actively when our child had an allergic reaction on day 2. Thank you!!!

Perfect mix of academic advice, process for starting a medical career to hands on simulations in the hospital. Additionally, it was great to have so many activities outside of the classroom to allow UNC college life to be experienced.

Our son felt the experience at Outset was amazing. He has a much better sense of what he needs to do to pursue pre-med and what to expect in a medical career. The Outset team was very organized and incorporated a range of enjoyable activities outside of lectures. We highly recommend this camp to any student interested in medicine.
