It seems there are others who have experiences similar to me: I purchased the Hanten with the koi design on the back. There was significant pilling under arms and other points where fabric rubs after just one wear. I contacted 'Jenny' after the pilling became too much to manage. She initially promised a replacement, but then reneged and only offered a 15% refund. I am at the point now where the pilling is so severe, I don't wear it. Do not buy from this company; the product is just terrible quality.

Communication of order status through to delivery was excellent. The kimono style pyjamas I bought for my postpartum daughter were amazing. The product was exactly as described and a complete game changer for a new mother. There may be additional purchases!

Disappointed as the sizing runs small. Really like the look and cut and fabric but sizing is not suitable. Maybe maximum a size 12-14?

Second issue is the clothing has a terrible chemical smell so would need to wash immediately. So strong a smell that it worries me that it is poisonous. This is not Ok, especially at this price point.

Could not find any returns procedure so have messaged the company and await a reply.

If these issues were resolved could be great. :/

Quality of product seems good, but service is atrocious.

I bought a jacket that I like with a koi fish. No problem.

I also bought some pajamas in what should have been my size, but the fit was terrible.

Service is *awful.*

They are charging me a fee, demanding I take pictures, and telling me that shipping is at my own expense. Then asking me my height and weight as a favor because they don't know what they are doing.

Huge pain.

As much as I like the jacket, I don't think I'd risk buying from them again.

I may have to go to my credit card for help if they keep jerking me around.

Ordered a pair for both my wife and I and we love them! They’re comfortable, and fit very well. We will absolutely will be buying them again!!

I love Japanese style and textiles. It gives me much pleasure to wear these and want more opportunity to wear such beautiful designs.
I have worn my current jacket with a white, broderie anglaise, high-collared blouse thus making an east meets west fusion which makes me feel complete and very happy with myself.

I bought two Kimonoji pajama sets for my wife as a Mother's Day gift and she loves them! She has practically been living in them as she works from home. They are soft, breathable, clearly of his high quality, and perfect for both lounging around and getting her work day started in style. Our son took a Japanese culture class at our local rec center last year and has taken to practicing his limited Japanese vocabulary with her when she is wearing them. Anything that looks great, feels great, and inspires a nine year old to practice anything is a win-win-win.

Samue set runs about 2 sizes too small. The largest size they sell is XL, so if you are an L, it is going to fit tight.

The product page has a "60 day no hassle money back guarantee". But the actual return policy is tucked away in tiny print in the bottom left of the web page.

1. They sell used clothing. When you get approved for a return, they will charge you a $3.99 "reconditioning fee".

2. In order to be approved for the return you must send pictures to them of the item and all of the packaging and also attest that you have not worn nor washed the item.

3. If they approve your return, they will not refund your shipping on the original purchase, nor your return shipping.

This hardly sounds like a 60 day no hassle money back guarantee. You get hassled and don't get your money back.

And, if you leave a review on their website that is not 5 stars, the bots automatically delete it. My review was pending, and now it is gone. DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR REVIEWS

While they seem legitimate, they are just another facebook store that scams people.

my pyjamas are beautiful....the fabric soft, well made & they arrived promptly. I bought 2 pairs & will buy another, but it looks like they will last a while.

Bought a Hanten jacket from Kimonoji in December and, because I'm based in Australia, only got to wear it once the cooler weather arrived. After a single cold wash and air dry (well within their care recommendations), fibres from the inner cotton filling began pushing through to the outer fabric, leaving the jacket looking heavily linted and worn. For context, I also bought a different design for my wife at the same time and hers has had no such issue, so I know the problem isn't how I've cared for it. I contacted support with photos and Jenny acknowledged it appeared to be an "isolated case" that would be escalated to their team. I asked for a replacement on 30 April, was told they'd get back to me "shortly," and weeks later I'm still chasing them with no resolution. If they themselves agree it's an isolated case, why won't they replace it? For the price point, the build quality is disappointing and the after-sales follow-through has been worse. I'd encourage anyone considering Kimonoji to look elsewhere.

Kimonoji makes amazing comfortable soft relaxing pajama sets. I own a pair and I gifted my partner and pair and we both love them so much. I have definitely recommended their samue sets to friends and partners!

Everything. Sizing is way off. Quality of item is awful. I have bought real garments from Japan, made in Japan , and this i by far the worst quality. It is very thin, and does not appear to be well made. Not worth the money

It was so easy to place an order for these lovely warm jackets that I wound up eventually buying two. Besides just being beautiful they are so comfortable and cozy.

After receiving my hanten and being unimpressed with the quality given what I paid, I came here to see other reviews (should have done that first). I just searched on AliExpress and indeed found my exact hanten for a fraction of the price. I'll probably still wear it, there's nothing actually wrong with it, but the materials are cheap and it's not the authentic Japanese product they lead you to believe. Definitely not worth the price, and it's clear they are purposefully misleading customers.

I literally went to Japan in hopes of finding a Hanten, ready to spend, but it was not easy to find!! Kimonoji was on my radar before my trip, but I thought I would try to find what I was looking for in Japan. I was unable to, and when I returned from my trip, I was definitely short on coin not only was there a killer sale going on but when I asked my best friend about it who actually is Japanese she was excited because her father had worn down his old Hanten to rags! It was a great deal and everyone who received one was pleased with the quality. I will definitely be ordering more pieces in the future. Also, I’m not a small woman. Easily a size 18 in American sizes. It fits me and it fits my best friend who’s a size 8. Truly one size fits all regardless of height or width. Her father is 6 foot two.
