Terrible, would avoid!!

My entire experience has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing.

From the outset, the so-called “job specific” installation instructions were incomplete. Critical measurements and details were missing, and despite the instructions stating that further information was available upon request, I was told outright that no additional details existed when I reached out. The generic installation instructions provided were clearly outdated and of little practical use. Instead of clarifying the process, they only added confusion. I was supplied with pieces that weren’t scheduled as part of my order, while at the same time dealing with components that were incorrectly manufactured. Pre-drilled holes were in the wrong locations, something that Kinsman themselves later confirmed leaving me to troubleshoot and work around their mistakes.

On top of all that, most items straight out of the box had significant marks from manufacturing which could only be removed with eucalyptus oil which was in addition to the residue left by all the stickers left on each piece. Basic finishing items like white cover dots for screw holes were missing, forcing me to go out and purchase them myself. There was also an insufficient quantity of Euro screws provided, meaning yet another trip and additional cost just to complete what could and should have been a straightforward installation.

Perhaps the most frustrating part was being told that as a “self installer” I should have been or used a licensed cabinetry installer, despite the fact that no such licensing requirement actually exists. This felt like an attempt to deflect responsibility for poor product quality and inadequate documentation.

Overall, this has been an incredibly poor experience. Between the lack of proper instructions, incorrect manufacturing, missing components, and dismissive support, I cannot and will not recommend Kinsman. I will actively share my experience and participate in any conversation to help dissuade others from using Kinsman.

Just awful miscommunication from Day 1

Just awful miscommunication from Day 1. Delay after delay, and conflicting information. Basically, they are a marketing company who don't take ownership as everything is subcontracted out. I had less drama and delays doing a full house renovation than getting a simple kitchenette installed. Seriously, find yourself a small local kitchen company that actually does the work and takes ownership.

WARNING DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY Kinsman kitchens is the worst company i have ever dealt with in my life, do yourself a favour and don't use them its not worth the stress or financial loss , Everything is all great till they have your full payment, we had to wait 3 months after our delivery date to receive all our cabinets, multiple damaged or poorly manufactured cabinets, incorrect cabinets supplied the list of issues dealing with Kinsman just goes on and on , No communication, No customer service just excuse after excuse , I wouldn't want my worst enemy to go through what we went through deeling with these crooks, after the huge costs in delays i incurred and close to a nervous breakdown dealing with them they decided to insult me by offering a $500 refund which I declined, do yourself a favour dont use kinsman kitchens or Freedom kitchens as they are the same company

Its been 6 months and I still waiting...

Its been 6 months and I still do not have the correct wardrobes. I paid up front before they would even start to make them. On 3 seperate occasions they have delivered either the wrong or damaged doors. When I asked for compensation as my builder cannot finish works in the rooms because of this delay they said no it does not affect work in my house - WOW how balsy of them the make that statement when clearly it is. Do not use this company, go with a local cabinet maker who actually cares about communication and service.

3rd Year Incomplete Dodgy Cabinetry and Service

I ordered a wardrobe that cost over 10 grand in August 2023. It is still NOT COMPLETE. I live in a one bedroom apartment, so it’s important to have storage. It’s now Wednesday 17 December 2025 and the installer had to take away the door (that’s been replaced three times now) because the condition was worse than the preceding two. I despise Kinsman. If this project is ever completed, I will write a full review of the ridiculous timeline. My apartment was a mess for the first eight months or so because of these idiots. Very unprofessional. Do not waste your time and money … go to IKEA or Bunnings.

If I could give this company a minus 10…

If I could give this company a minus 10 star review this is exactly what they would get. Once they have your money the problems begin and keep on coming. Now over 4 weeks behind, letting me know of manufacturing issues on the supposed day of insulation, delay after delay with them taking absolutely no responsibility. Absolutely disgusting customer service. Asking me to sign off on completion when the build is definitely not finished. If you value your sanity just don't use this company

AVOID this company

If I could give zero stars I would. Do not use this company as they are overpriced, quality of kitchen cabinetry poor. The process once money paid was a nightmare. Delays due to missing bench top, parts and cabinets when delivered. Costing us more money even had to go to Bunnings to buy hinges and handles in order to complete our kitchen. We were still charged for the missing items. Customer service unhelpful and rude, a portal is also used to communicate and is overseas managed. We were promised our kitchen would be delivered by our required timeframe due to being manufactured on Central Coast, this was not the case and our kitchen took 3 months longer. Was advised I would be compensated, operation manager refused to approve. Worst company ever to deal with I would not recommend.

Extremely Disappointed – Would Not Recommend

My experience with Kinsman has been nothing short of terrible. There was no communication from the start. The consultant was not up-to-date on product availability, installation requirements, or even basic details, which led to multiple mistakes and delays.

What was supposed to be a simple kitchen was quite a price and blew out by $11,500, with no accountability or clear explanation. As trades where under estimated at initial consultation

The end result is full of faults:
   •   Cupboards that don’t open properly
   •   Appliances that don’t fit, despite Kinsman having every measurement from the beginning
   •   Multiple design and product issues that should have been picked up early

Kinsman subcontracts almost everything out and then takes no responsibility when things go wrong. I saved and looked forward to this renovation, but the experience has been stressful, disappointing, and absolutely not worth the money.

I regret choosing Kinsman and would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Misleading and disappointing

Our experience with KINSMAN has been nothing short of frustrating and financially damaging. The designer grossly underestimated the trade costs, which left us thousands of dollars out of pocket once the actual invoices arrived. The quote was deliberately lowered just to secure our contract.

We tried to speak to the designer who quoted the amount but she didn't pick up our call and passed our number onto her "manager". After our last big payment of the outstanding amount, the manager did not return calls and took over a week to reply to emails.

The trades KINSMAN sent out delivered poor workmanship, several issues had to be fixed by external trades at our own cost, and their communication throughout the entire process was extremely poor. We constantly had to chase updates and clarify details that should have been managed professionally from the start.

We were also promised the installation would take two weeks from delivery. It has now been over a month, and the project is still not finished.

Overall, KINSMAN has delivered inaccurate quoting, substandard workmanship, poor communication, and significant delays—a completely unacceptable experience. We would not recommend KINSMAN to anyone.

This company started lying even before the inspection. Red flags everywhere, I only checked the reviews afterwards. Many people have complained about the poor quality and bad workmanship. Very unprofessional. Stay away to avoid wasting your time and money.

Would give zero stars if possible. Do not use this company if you ever want to have an actual kitchen installed. We were told they would install in late June. Then it was July. Then it was the last day of July (the day we were moving into our house). Some of it came then but we are now in mid-September and the kitchen is yet to be completed. They have special ‘getting your kitchen completed’ people so clearly this must be a problem they have a lot. We are still missing parts. They made the whole oven and microwave enclosure completely wrong and seem to be unable to rectify this. All we get from them is ‘next week’ then when next week comes it’s ’next week’. We are considering legal action.

Buyer Beware: A Cautionary Tale with Kinsman Kitchens
It all starts off promising—Kinsman’s showroom is slick, and the sales rep presents professionally. But once payment is secured, the experience nosedives.
The delivery was a disaster. Critical components were missing, and the installer couldn’t complete the job. To make matters worse, there were multiple sizing errors that affected appliance placement and door fit. Specifically:
• No drawers were delivered
• Hardware for benchtops was missing
• Corner cabinet rails and other essential components were not supplied
• Incorrect hardware was provided for the doors
All of these issues were flagged on the day of delivery. Yet, instead of acknowledging the delays or offering a timeline for resolution, Kinsman sent a request for full and final payment. This lack of accountability is unacceptable.
Communication has been abysmal throughout. For a company that charges premium prices, the execution has been anything but. I deeply regret not doing more research beforehand—turns out many other customers have faced similar failures in delivery and service.
Do not get caught in their trap. The showroom may sparkle, but the follow-through is deeply flawed.

Dream Kitchen Design

Dream Kitchen Designer – Highly Recommend Angela Karafyllas!

I cannot recommend Angela Karafyllas highly enough. She designed my absolute dream kitchen — understanding exactly what I was after from the very beginning. She had the ability to translate my vision into a beautiful, functional space.

Angela brought incredible storage solutions and clever design advice I didn’t even know I needed, making the entire process smooth and enjoyable. Her professionalism, depth of experience, and keen eye for detail set her apart from the rest.

Angela is not only knowledgeable and talented but also incredibly helpful and easy to work with.

If you’re after someone who truly knows kitchens and will guide you every step of the way, Angela is the one!

Poor Quality

We bought a Good Guys Kitchen in 2017 and were happy with the service and installation. However about six months ago some of the corners started to lift and now the entire fronts are falling off the cupboards and drawers. I contacted the company Kinsman Kitchen and they replied out of warranty nothing they can do. I got 30 years out of my previous Kitchen. Cheap and poor quality at an expensive price.

Avoid Kinsman at all costs!

This company is completely unprofessional and feels like a scam. We spent $27,000 on a wardrobe we were promised would be luxury, what we got instead was poor quality workmanship and a customer service nightmare. After payment, Kinsman takes zero accountability. Any problems are blamed on the installer, and you're left chasing them with no real resolutions.

We designed our wardrobe in December, was delivered in April, kinsman advised the cabinets had a manufacturing issue with the led strip lighting affecting the finish of our wardrobe, the wardrobe was dismantled and a second wardrobe was installed 4-5 weeks later, we are now left with a wardrobe that is even worse than the first install. Save your time and money and go else where!!

Extremely low grade service & poor trades

Extremely low grade service.

After spending 40+k on walk in robes and a pantry we have ended up feeling like the promised quality is just not up to standard.

The tradesmen used by Kinsmann are pathetic at best, Errors in installation, missing parts left for me to chase up and then they don’t get back to you to have those missing parts installed.

I would never ever recommend Kinsman and urge you to look elsewhere as these guys will take your money but leave you with issues after the job.

Deeply Disappointed

Deeply Disappointed – Not the Premium Kitchens Advertised

We chose Kinsman/Freedom Kitchens (same company) believing we were investing in a quality, premium product. Unfortunately, we were caught out by the illusion created through Channel Nine’s The Block. The end result has fallen far short of the media hype and has been a frustrating experience from start to finish.

The design was poorly thought out, with oversized doors cramping our modest kitchen, and key accessibility promises simply not delivered—my wife uses a footstool just to reach everyday items. The bulkheads were hideous and had to be removed as they clashed with our high ceilings, and the drawer space is completely impractical.

Kinsman/Freedom outsources installation to third-party contractors and refuses to take any responsibility for the outcome. The entire process was chaotic, with no coordination between trades. We were forced to manage the project ourselves just to ensure it moved forward. Numerous issues arose: defects, gaps, incorrect panels, unconnected and leaking plumbing, sawdust and offcuts left behind—even a visibly misaligned sink and rangehood.

What was sold to us as a premium kitchen turned out to be a basic melamine fit-out, no better than a cheap flat-pack. We’ve made numerous complaints to Kinsman, but each time we’re redirected to the contractors. Yet the contractors cannot fix the poor design, cheap materials, or the mental toll this process has taken.

This is a far cry from the ‘dream kitchen’ we were promised—just a costly disappointment. We strongly advise others to avoid Kinsman and instead seek a reputable local supplier who will take full responsibility for the job from start to finish. Make sure you check reviews first.

BEWARE - DON'T DO IT

BEWARE! Do not sign contract before looking at reviews. Their stonemason is horrible to deal with, they do not have processes in place to deal with any problems that arise, which they create. Kinsman are not able to do anything as they are only the designer and supplier of cabinetry. The vision they sell and create is let down by the company they reccomend when it comes to the stone and then they wash their hands of the job because technically ita a separate contract you sign. Everything that went right is a far memory and the wrong outweighs. Truly the worst experience.

Update - 6 august still no kitchen, still no follow up or a call from kinsman, not even once. I now have a warranty claim to try get stone installed tp complete a kitchen. when I signed a contract that said 10 business days after site measure. Site measure happened in May. Kinsman work with companies that have no integrity. 7 month process for the tiniest kitchen, simply due to the people they decide to work with and that they reccomend. Would give a negative star review because 1 star is to generous.

6 months on & still no completed cabinets. Ruined function & value of my house. Ikea would be better.

Update 25/9/2025 - Wardrobes still incomplete an unuseable. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

Update 26/9/2025 - Installer team (Cab Pro Cabinets Pty Ltd) showed up today without all the parts & did about 50% of outstanding list. Kinsman hard to get hold of.

Said to my face they had not been provided all parts & told me they have this trouble all the time with Kinsman. They then failed to put all the screw cap covers on (missed 26 of them) despite having them with them & only did a few thinking I wouldn't check. I'm still missing functional parts include draw runners, draw fronts, headboard. I've chased Kinsman team to sort with the installer - Kinsman say they've provided everything (I don't believe them based on original failings to provide everything). I still haven't got finished wardrobes!

Original Issue in May 2025:
Treated myself to what I thought would be high end builtin wardrobes @ circa $25k & a further $7k for install, with extra sensor lighting, pull down rods etc. Massive $ investment in my home & I expected high quality product & service & so far = 6 month disaster.

PRODUCT QUALITY & ERRORS:
So far I've not been provided the product as drawn, specified & promised by Kinsman Wardrobes.
Wrong bulkheads & kickboards provided - they are to match the wardrobe panels & don't.
Wrong rod lengths provided. 6 out of 8 are the wrong length & I'm still waiting on the replacements.
Design not followed - bulkhead not in correct place & not correct finish, holes drilled in for handles where the shouldn't be. Now waiting for those all panels to be replaced & haven't got correct confirmation.
Left with pen marks on cupboards, handles not installed lined up.
No lights yet installed.
Offcuts left in my garage.
Walls are damaged and marked, ceiling & adjacent walls in one room damaged & promises of trades returning to finish the job.
New edges of plaster not finished.
I currently don't have a working wardrobe anywhere in my house.

MULTIPLE CONTRACTS & NO CO-ORDINATION
Be warned - you end up with @ least two separate contracts - one with Kinsman for supply (only) of the robes to agreed design & then separate contract with their recommended installer, & potentially a 3rd or 4th with the installers subbies for lighting, plastering etc.

YOU MUST PROJECT MANAGE:
Be prepared - you have to co-ordinate & project manage the install yourself.
KINSMAN DO NOT DO THIS. THE INSTALLER DOESN'T DO IT.
Kinsman recommend an installer but do not co-ordinate or supervise (they imply they do but they don't). I called several times to see if they could sort things with the installer but was always difficult.

I've had to chase the installer constantly for months on end for everything. Chase to come quote, send quote, get subbies to come & separately to quote, send quote, to confirm when coming, re when they are coming back & what is still to be done & chase confirmation of whether job will be finished or not on a given day.

I have felt repeatedly patronised & lied to when they've said it will be finish on X day & I came home & it wasn't, lied to when they say they have everything to finish & they show up & don't have it but keep promising it will be finished or certain works will be done on certain days & it simply doesn't happen.

The installer recommended by Kinsman has been inconsistent & prone to mistakes: never arrives on time, very polite & perpetually apologetic but actually doesn't get any better; has drilled holes where their shouldn't be; installed bulkheads that are clearly wrong & not as per design; damaged walls & not told me; not contacted me during install if he's not certain of something. All of which I would put up with if the job was actually done properly, well and as promised.

How can I believe the installer or Kinsman Group will fix this properly & ensure I get the end product I was promised by both?

At $30k + all up this is a terrible customer service experience. I regret not going to Ikea.

I assumed that because Kinsman were affiliated with The Good Guys (its on their website) & the TV show The Block that they would uphold the same principles of service as The Good Guys (who my entire family have bought all their appliance from and my mother bought her entire kitchen from them and was very well installed).

In past homes I've had top line Ikea wardobes, cupboards & shelves installed with all the trims & to be frank the product, finish & service is comparable. Ikea's partner installers have consistently done a better job @ showing up on time & not causing damage.

I have enormous regret regarding Kinsman & doubts re The Good Guys judgement. Stupid thing is I have more work to do on the house & they have lost repeat business.

Could not be happier with our kitchen - great job

From the start to finish our experience with Kinsman has been excellent. The showroom staff were very welcoming and helpful; the designer complied with our wishes and added some innovative ideas of her own. The installer was a first-class tradesman with great attention to detail. All of the other people who attended the installation were committed and friendly and always showed up when expected. Our kitchen looks amazing
