Stephanie Glover who first worked on my divorce case was very personable and also thorough. I felt in safe hands with her. I felt she was practical and didn't make matters more complicated than they should be - which was not true of the other side. When Stephanie left, Jasmin took over and it was a very smooth transition and I had no concerns at all.

Engaging with a solicitor, especially at such an emotionally charged time, can be emotional and difficult - to say the least!
In my situation, I was facing the breakdown of a 20 year relationship. The relationship had become highly toxic, my relationship with my children was beginning to suffer and my partner was increasingly irrational, demanding and cruel. My partner was being guided by their own legal counsel and had clearly decided to ignore all the agreements our marriage bas built on, all the trust and good will that had been created over 20 years and was prepared to use the children against me - I'm not sure I could face a more challenging and emotional situation! My trust and faith in humanity was rock bottom. The lies, the deceit, the claims being made about me were absolutely shocking!
Fortunately the team at KJS, lead by Aaron in my case, encouraged me to speak up, help me find my confidence and helped me make clear assessments on what was fair, reasonable and morally correct - irrespective of my partner's views. Understanding the landscape of a divorce, how people change and how they can suddenly behave so differently was a very hard lesson indeed. Anyone would be wise to seek support through something as tragic as an unwanted divorce.
The space, patience and time I was afforded has unequivocally resulted in a much better outcome for myself and my children - without compromising the lifestyle of my partner; but certainly not allowing them to get everything they claimed they 'needed'.
Having a calm and trusted solicitor, someone on your 'team' to offer a balanced view and someone with an expert knowledge of a very challenging situation has been invaluable!

I met with Saira Syed for an initial, complimentary consultation regarding a post-divorce financial matter. Saira was warm and welcoming, immediately putting me at ease. She listened attentively and took detailed notes to ensure she had a complete understanding of my situation. We discussed what solution I was seeking and whether, given the information I had shared, this would be possible. Saira reviewed my options with me and provided an estimate of the potential fees should I wish to proceed. At no point did I feel pressured to proceed with further meetings. Johanna Jones of KJ Smith Beaconsfield branch has been of great help to us over the past two years with regards to the payment of inheritance tax due on our late father's estate following the passing of our stepmother. The process was more complex than usual as IHT needed to be paid by both our father's Will Trust and our stepmother's Estate and there were lengthy delays by HMRC. Johanna liaised with the solicitor working on behalf of our stepsisters and, as well as submitting all our paperwork to HMRC, provided additional advice to their solicitor. I arranged a free initial consultation with JK Smith Solicitors and provided detailed information in advance, including forms and supporting details requested by the firm. Unfortunately, I was only informed the day before my appointment that they were unable to deal with my type of issue.

While I understand not every firm can handle every matter, I feel this could have been identified much earlier in the process. The delay caused unnecessary stress at an already difficult time, and highlights the need for clearer communication and better initial screening.
