I signed up over 3 months ago as I saw an advert as people have mentioned it's not quite as it's advertised to however I still used it and got some value out of it. I set a reminder after three month period, and in March decided that it wasn't worth paying the subscription so I cancelled I got notified I'll have usage until the 25th of April. And on the 25th of April I got charged £49.99, despite cancelling through the app. Very poor, I emailed twice and noticed that they had responded to negative review on here after I had emailed so felt maybe they response faster on here. If this isnt resolved swiftly I will be contacting my bank and reporting and take it further.

The app itself is not as advertised. It’s rather boring and difficult to navigate. It’s difficult to get the next segment of history.

STAY AWAY! They say it’s free and won’t be charged but they LIE! You contact customer service they just ignore your emails once you ask for a refund! The app itself isn’t great either, can’t play it continuously and poor quality.

Absolute scam. Falsely took money, I contacted them, they sent a reply trying to justify but ignored half the payments I questioned, which were completely and obviously fake, they then stopped replying and ignore contact. DO NOT BELIEVE THE RESPONSE THEY ATTACH TO THIS MESSAGE. I have attached a previous response and pointed out their lies, which I can prove through emails, which are now with my bank, having reported them for fraud
My bank say it’s not their first complaint about them.
Fraudulent and then they ignore.

OTHER THAN THAT, YOU HAVE FOBBED ME OFF WITH REPLIES THAT DON'T DEAL WITH THE ISSUE, and we have been working to identify all associated accounts and transactions to provide a complete explanation.
I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE! NOT THROUGH YOU, NOT THROUGH APPLE.
At this time, one of the charges mentioned does not appear in our records (4 CHARGES, NOT ONE, SO 6 PAYMENTS IN TOTAL WITH YOU PUTTING IN WRITING YOU HAVE NO RECORD OF 4 OF THEM BUT THAT YOU'RE NOT FRAUDUALANT) , which is why we have requested additional details to help locate it accurately (I SENT YOU BANK STATEMENTS!!!!) . Without matching transaction information, it is not possible to verify or resolve it fully (BECAUSE IT'S FRAUDULANT!) I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE THROUGH APPLE OR THROUGH YOU.
We have also provided a breakdown of the subscriptions we were able to identify (NO YOU HAVEN'T, I SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR DETAILS, YOU REPLIED WITH NOTHING OTHER THAN ESSENTIALLY ASKING I TAKE YOU WORD FOR IT DESPITE YOU HAVING NO KNOWLEDGE OF 4 OTHER PAYMENTS TAKEN BY YOU and offered a resolution based on those findings YOU OFFERED A 40% REFUND FOR 2 OF THE CHARGES I DID NOT MAKE AND IGNORE THE REST.

This is an app that promotes itself through high-quality mini documentary videos on history that are really appealing. The problem is that once you subscribe, you realize that they have ZERO of those fabulous mini documentaries that they use to promote the app. Instead, they offer you text and quizzes on history. Nothing but very basic content (designed and apt to primary school students) yet not a clue about the great videos they use to promote the app.

Really disappointed after thinking I've made a purchase to try and help my mindless scrolling and choosing to learn instead. The initial period was, I believe, a 3 month trial for £20. I thought okay, why not - I believe they offered a money back garantuee if not satisfied (if Im remembering correctly). I used it for about a week and then tried a few more times but just lost interest unfortunately - I didn't not want to claim my money back as I didn't think the app was poor but just my attention span was not as good as it should be.
All of a sudden, after the 3 months, I'm charged £50 for something I didn't even know I was subscribed to. I feel scammed especially since I have had no response to my email after 2 business days. I have emailed again. Will update this review accordingly if they respond and rectify the situation.
Update: offered £25 back of the £50 but still pretty sour about losing £25 for ultimately no real purpose (they have kept my access to paladin for the rest of the year I believe but haven't even opened the app as I became quite bored of the similar structure for every seperate history)

It shows helpful imagery, plays appropriate sound effects/music, shows the words and reads through scripts (helping visual and audio learners) of each event. Each person is broken into 4-5 different lessons with quizzes at each checkpoint. You then earn an avatar of the person at the end. I love it a lot!

The ads are real. The app is amazing - and the team is responsive. I mentioned that I'd like to be able to listen in a car drive versus less interactive and they added the feature. Amazing!

Update: Problem was resolved.
App told me my subscription was cancelled but kept billing me month to month. Emailed hello at learnpaladin.com but I haven’t heard back in 2 business days. Seeking help here to see who was able to resolve this

I tried to cancel before the free trial ended and it wouldn’t let me. I emailed asking for a refund the same day I was charged and didn’t get no response.

Total scam. The product isn’t very good, but the biggest problem is the billing. They trick you when you sign up and make it impossible to cancel. They will say that “you signed up on the web version” (which they forced you to do) so you can’t manage the account under your subscriptions. Then they don’t allow you to sign back into your account to cancel the billing they tricked you into the first time. This is more than dishonest. If you sign up, be ready to cancel your credit card.
I also emailed them to resolve the issue- and was not surprised when my communication was complete ignored.

They renewed my subscription for 50 euros more without my consent and refused to refund me even though I contacted immediately. The app is completely different from what was shown in the ads.
Update: After this review, they contacted me and I received a half refund..

Awful. A.I. looking app. With fictional descriptions of people from history. 'Its 3am and the candle is making his eyes tired' it's inaccurate too. A very lazy way to learn wrong history.

Avoid at all cost. The company will fraudulently over charge you and claim that you subscribe through Apple and can cancel through Apple. Not true. You have been warned.

It looks like this is an on going issue. I only signed up for the free version but Paladin has been trying to charge my card $60. I have emailed them a few times with no response.
I can’t cancel my subscription because I don’t have one! Stop trying to take my money!

I enjoyed the learning experience, I wish there were more historical stories about women, and about people from other countries not just Americans. For instance there should have been one about Elizabeth 1st. They charged me for a month by accident but I e-mailed them, and they refunded me ASAP so the customer service is excellent.

I had a free trial with them but I never authorized any charges. Yesterday a charge of $69 showed up on my account for what's so called their "annual fee".
They don't even have a call or live chat service. I sent an email and after almost a whole day they replied to me refusing a refund for the charge I never authorized. I replied and threatened that I would be charging back with my bank if they don't fix it. They obviously ignored me after that email and that's the time I know this company is nothing but a bunch of fraudsters.
I will still proceed with my bank dispute. I have only authorized a free trial and nothing else but they decided to steal from me.
