A Toxic and Unethical Workplace
A Toxic and Unethical Workplace – Avoid at All Costs
I normally don’t leave reviews like this, but my experience working at this bakery was so unprofessional and upsetting that I feel obligated to share it — especially for anyone considering working here or supporting the business.
During my time as an employee, I was not paid properly for the hours I worked, including missed wages and unresolved discrepancies in my pay. I raised the issue multiple times, only to be met with silence, excuses, or outright dismissal. This kind of behavior is not only unethical — it’s illegal.
The work environment itself is extremely toxic. The management is completely disorganized, and there is no real leadership or accountability. The supervisors and managers seem more interested in blaming staff than actually helping them succeed or creating a positive, respectful workplace.
One incident that really stood out was when a supervisor openly swore at a customer in front of both staff and other patrons. No apology was given, and no consequences followed — which tells you everything you need to know about the level of professionalism here. It was shocking, embarrassing, and unacceptable.
The owner Lorraine is completely disconnected from the day-to-day operations and clearly has no idea how to run a bakery or manage a team. From what a supervisor told me, she only cares about how much money she makes. Rather than investing in training or fostering a healthy workplace culture, they contribute to the chaos by enabling poor behavior and ignoring serious issues.
New staff are given minimal guidance and are often left to “figure things out” in an environment that offers little to no support. You’re expected to pick up the slack, take on multiple roles, and tolerate disrespect from management without complaint.
I wouldn’t recommend working here to anyone. It’s an exploitative, disorganized, and frankly embarrassing place to be employed. And if you’re a customer reading this — please consider whether you want to support a business that mistreats its workers and allows management to speak to customers and staff so poorly.
There are far better bakeries out there — ones that actually respect their employees and their patrons
