I’ve seen a couple of mediocre reviews on here about Macc Maintenance and I’m really surprised. My experience is of a superlative company with only 5 star work - but here’s why you should listen to this opinion more than the others. My read on their skill, experience, trustworthiness, timeliness, responsibility, patience, boundaries, customer care, integrity, character, and and how they really work day in day out is based on more compelling data than random one off incidents that can skew the real experience of a business. My project was huge in scope, long in duration, difficult, tedious and challenging in nature, required every one of their engineers and would have made most companies walk away or weep. Macc Maintenance didn’t flinch. They’re just ace.
My house is 17th century in part, with walls primed to collapse if modern technology comes near them: if exhumed the floors are full of horsehair, asbestos, ghosts, soot, subsidence, woodworm and the tears of previous plumbers. I ran a renovation without a present project manager for the best part of 2025, which was not the plan and as fun as you can imagine. Macc Maintenance were my chosen heating engineers to strip out the old and replace the entire heating system. They are a family business which I prefer, with many years of experience. Yes, they are expensive, but this project required multiple tweaks, adjustments, new solutions and return visits, all of which were included. For a project which was bound to uncover issues that threw everything off track, this worked out in my favour, I’m sure of it.
They attack a problem with smarts, precision and solution-oriented focus, and keep solving complex, multi-layered issues until everything works better than promised. Highly motivated, they never slack but they don’t mind a bit of bantz either (I need to know who is working in my house, and will go out of my way to find out). They come out on their lunch breaks, at short notice, on the weekends - imagine a polite, friendly, well-boundaried tornado. Their work cuts through the noise and goes way beyond the extra mile, with a robust sense of humour. I had the first winter it’s ever been properly warm in here and my bills are down. There is an unparalleled work ethic at work here, with fantastic results.
The only issue came up when the tilers that they sub contracted dropped some grout on the carpet, which they disputed. Rather than quibble, Olly replaced the entire carpet. Classy. See what I mean?
I run an airbnb now, so things just have to work - guests need to use the 3 bathrooms all the same time - now beautifully designed with abundant hot water and pressure.
Ironically many of my guests are heating engineers coming to Macc as competitors, and they comment unprompted on the good work. That good work is down to Olly, Clive, Dan, Matt, Conrad, Kieron, Sam and their entire team, to whom I am indebted.
