Four months later, we're still having their work fixed
We hired Magnum Reformas to renovate our upper floor, but we cancelled the contract after unsafe electrical work was discovered. More than four months later, we are still paying to rectify problems with the work they left behind.
Independent testing identified serious electrical faults, including live voltage on earth wiring, reversed live and neutral connections, sockets without earth connections, twisted wire connections instead of proper terminals, lighting cables embedded directly in concrete without conduit, and junction boxes tiled over and made inaccessible.
The problems were not limited to the electrics. A hidden plumbing leak was traced to incorrectly installed pipework, including the use of the wrong type of pipe and joints that had been glued together. Fixing it required removing the toilet, bidet, sink, partition wall, and surrounding tiles.
The sink had also not been sealed, allowing water to damage the wooden frame beneath it, which now needs to be replaced. The shower does not drain correctly and still requires remedial work. Tiling was poorly finished, with uneven grouting and extensive grout haze.
The project was also significantly delayed. What made the experience particularly disappointing was the contrast between the sales process and the work itself. When we were quoted for the renovation, we were shown detailed visualisations and given the impression of a professionally planned project. The reality did not match that presentation.
We have photographs, videos, testing records and documentation of the defects and subsequent remedial work. More than four months after the contract was cancelled due to electrical safety issues, repairs are still ongoing.
Based on our experience, we strongly advise others not to use Magnum Reformas.
