Huge disappointment
Huge disappointment: Poor view of the show and extremely substandard "dinner experience"
My experience at Maison Macabre in Lommel was unfortunately absolutely not worth the high ticket price. Although the concept sounds promising, the execution fell short in every possible way.
First of all, the layout of the venue was very poorly thought out. We were seated at the back of the room, admittedly close to the stage, but this meant we spent the entire evening literally staring at the backs of the dancers and the magician. While the performers did walk through the crowd, our "forgotten corner" behind their stage was completely ignored. As a result, we barely caught a proper glimpse of the actual show.
Secondly, the "dinner experience" (for which we paid an additional €48) was a total letdown. The food quality was comparable to a cheap mass-catering cafeteria, and absolutely not what you would expect from a high-end theater night. Furthermore, it was advertised as an 'à volonté' (all-you-can-eat) buffet, but in reality, we were only allowed to line up a single time. This is simply misleading.
For the hefty price you pay per person here, you expect an exclusive overall show and good food. Instead, we were left feeling hungry and spent most of the night looking at people's backs. Not recommended.
