This is the 2nd time we used makesworth. The first time was okay so we decided to use them again. We file for a non resident and we informed them right from the start. However, they made a mistake filing us as resident and we had to let them know to correct their own mistake. Second, we got interest charge from HMRC, and I had to call HMRC myself, HMRC informed me the accountant change their filing amount. Thats why we got interest charge. They still insist it is not them. They never once call us ( they only talk to us once on the phone when trying to get us as a client). I gave them a 2 instead of 1 because the first year was okay

Completely unresponsive to emails and complicit in facilitating fraudulent transactions. This so-called "chartered accountancy firm" appears to have no issue allowing their systems to be used for scams, refusing to take accountability for the theft of your hard-earned money.

Their partnership with Revolut—a bank notorious for facilitating scams—raises serious questions about their integrity. Makesworth's inaction and lack of transparency show they cannot be trusted under any circumstances. Avoid at all costs if you value your money.

Excellent service with great communion. Always helpful no matter how short notice they always do their best to help you out. I would definitely recommend if you want an accountant that you can put your trust in.

This company adopts the unlawful practice of sending marketing emails without consent (spamming) with numerous trackable hyperlinks. I have had no prior relationship with this company therefore the sending of unsolicited emails does not comply with the Privacy and Electronic Regulations. Accordingly, this has been reported to ICO.

The spam email was sent by Makesworth Accountants using a dedicated promotions email address for this purpose bearing the same logo and contact details.

21 Nov 2024 - the business has made all false efforts to have this review taken down, rather than learning from their bad practices of spamming email accounts.

Post reply response, for clarification and context:

1.The business states that "...the review accuses us of sending unsolicited emails, but this is not true." - this is strenuously denied and infers that consent was obtained - at no point was consent obtained, therefore it is deemed unsolicited.

2.The business states that "..The email you received was sent for legitimate research purposes, not as marketing spam" which is false - the email in question was offering accounting services, therefore it is [unsolicited] marketing spam. There is nothing "legitimate" about the email newsletter sent as I had not inquired or made any prior contact to the business at any point. The email newsletter was sent using a 'promotions' email address with the subject "Exclusive Halloween Offer - Get 1 Month Free!" which is clearly not "legitimate research purposes".

3.The business states "...The edited review mentions that we made “false efforts” to have it removed. This is not accurate" - it is wholly accurate and accepted by Trustpilot. The business once flagged it was 'defamatory' which removed the review temporarily and once verified by Trustpilot, the business again flagged it for 'harmful content', again temporarily removing the review, which was not accepted by Trustpilot. In total, at least two flags were rejected by Trustpilot.

4.The business states "...We feel the review is an overreaction to what was a simple and respectful outreach. Calling it “spamming” over a single email is an excessive response" - it is clear that the business fails to understand current legislation on privacy and data protection including the GDPR. The email was not addressed to anyone and it appears to have been sent via email database, therefore disrespecting personal privacy.

I have been with Makesworth for a number of years, and working with Babitha and Sanja has been very seamless. I recently had a problem, which has now been resolved. The process has been very attentive. I am happy to recommend Makes worth.

Professional and timely service at all times

Makesworth Accountant are great value for money, they take about two weeks to give you a draft copy of your accounts. Everything is online are they communicate regularly.
